  1. Protesters are welcome in my garden - well, outside my window, I don't have a garden - so long as they don't upset the bunnies. Apathy is death!
  2. The anti-protest laws are mostly to get rid of Brian Haw. As for the big march in Scotland, I don't agree that it's irresponsible. If people feel strongly enough to protest against something, then they should - whether that inconveniences the police or not.
  3. That's what I thought, but if he's only at no. 37 in the all time worst movie list, then he's just an Ed Wood wannabe. Let him make Tetris: The Movie, and we'll see.
  4. Nar Shaddaa. Interesting, long and lots to do.
  5. Anna Paquin is fantastic, and Rogue is to me (someone with little knowledge of the X-Men) one of the more interesting characters. I hope they give her a lot more screentime in the next movie.
  6. I haven't seen Casanova, but the pictures of the guy look very young. Will he be the youngest Doctor? Good to see that Billie Piper will likely be back for the whole second series - providing some continuity, at least. I think she's really good - like the Doctor, a good reinvention of what a companion should be.
  7. Hopefully this time they've made David Tennant sign up for more than one season. Apparently there have been recriminations within the BBC that they let Christopher Eccleston go.
  8. Years ago I read about 'imaginary time' in Stephen Hawking's book about the big bang and didn't understand it at all. Can anyone explain it more simply? Or has it been disproved since then?
  9. A music industry spokesobject was on the news complaining about this: nasty BBC, making all of Beethoven's symphonies available for free download.
  10. Randomness is good, but needs to be handled carefully. You must make sure that the game is sufficiently well-designed and complex that it really can accommodate lots of different styles of play, and you also need to convince a skeptical player of this. OK, so my character got lots of persuasion points and not much strength - is this really going to enable me to advance by an alternative route? Otherwise people will just reload until they get what they think is the 'best' outcome - which most people don't enjoy.
  11. While you're at it, you should go over to the New Jersey forum and sign the petition for a PC version. Help Baley keep his post count up.
  12. I signed (seems like ages ago now). It doesn't appear to have had an effect, but who knows? The whole fuss about the cut ending: the emails/letters that were sent, the petition and (most of all) the negative press on some popular internet gaming sites, I would imagine had some effect. Maybe it's encouraged them to leave the Restoration Project alone. Maybe we'll see some improvement in future products. We'll probably never know.
  13. Wow, so many movies in two years. It's like he's not even going to pretend that they're any good. Or maybe, he's the only director anyone can persuade to take them on?
  14. There's a lot of good publicity from a well-written press release, but will the movie actually be made? Perhaps. Will it be watched? Not by me. By the way, should I know who Uwe Bol is?
  15. Yes, Jar Jar alone can survive against the Ultimate Joke - with his Force Quell Laughter power (passive, in permanent effect).
  16. Really? Actually I was thinking a Jar Jar-like character would be a good PC for Kotor 3 - the story of one young Gungan's fight to rebuild the Jedi Order. New force powers: Force Irritate Force High-Pitched Squeal Force Inspire-Murderous-Rage-In-All-Within-Earshot Or not. Still, Underwater Naboo (Otoh Gunga, the Star Wars databank tells me) might be a good location - a good writer could bring a darker, more serious edge to the Gungans. It's always good to challenge audience expectations.
  17. I don't follow the EU at all, aside from the Kotor games (Who is this Kyle Kitten of whom they speak?), but names of planets, especially from the new trilogy, could be seen as a selling point to younger less-devoted gamers. Kotor has been very successful at reaching out beyond the traditional RPG-gamer market, or so I've heard, and LucasArts will want to make sure that happens again. How about underwater Naboo? Jar-Jar's great grandfather as a party member?
  18. I guess there will have to be some 'famous' planets, in order to attract the interest of gamers who are more 'Star Wars' than 'RPG', if that makes sense. But it would be nice to have something other than Tattooine or Kashyyk for a change - how about Coruscant, or Alderaan?
  19. Are you surprised? Have you seen how long this thing is? http://www.epic.org/privacy/terrorism/hr3162.html All credit to Reveilled, but I don't think I could handle more than five minutes of that. Part of the problem is that it's so huge and contains so many measures. The supporters will pick out measures that are pretty reasonable, the opponents will pick out measures that are silly and badly written, and never the twain shall meet. (Still, it's probably better than the UK system, where anybody can be sent to jail indefinitely and without trial just because the Home Secretary thinks they might be a terrorist.)
  20. The British army's broke - I think they get water pistols now.
  21. Is this likely to be a movie that calls for good acting? I'm not saying Vin Diesel can't act - but I don't think it's long until this kind of movie has a computer-generated lead.
  22. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is better on the radio. But then, what isn't? :D
  23. I believe that the Telos Academy Imprisonment Cutscene Fix on this page will fix the problem, though it's also possible to avoid it according to your dialogue choices, I think. Anyway, give it a try. http://3dinfinity.com/K2End/downloads.html
  24. Of course. If the game wasn't good, nobody would care in the least about a patch with better movies and music. I told myself that I would wait until this new patch came out before I played the game again, and I'm sticking to that.
  25. At first, yes they would. But over time populations expand out to less and less favourable lands. Also availability of water changes over time and with environmental degradation, but traditional land ownership/access rights don't change along with it. Nomads are increasingly restricted in their movements by some governments and settled populations, and their access to traditional land is being cut off. They have to go where they can, and that's often the least suitable land. Either that or abandon their way of life and culture. Seven hours is not unknown. It's often the women's job to get the water, but travelling so far carries risks for anyone.
