On the Xbox360: Mass Effect On the PC: The Witcher A comparison consisting of "X is better than Y" is inevitable

Video Teaser already released.

Well, there was a time when the dollar was stronger than the euro. Back in 2002-2003 i think, it was 1 dollar equaled 1.10 euro or so, or something similar. But the prices where still the same, i.e. 49$ and 49

Meh, i have little interest in a third installment of the Deus Ex series. While the first one is a classic, they did however, severly dumb down the sequel.
-
Maybe i need to speak with them again after i've done some of the main-quests. I did a couple of side-quests today, but they didn't seem to have anything to say about it.

You've obviously not been subjected to the face eating caterpillars! Nope, i have seen some issues in the terrain, but nothing similar on the NPC's. But i have only played 9 hours, so maybe it's more down the line

I was bored, so i bought the game last friday. So far, I have done the . Last i remember, my play time was at approximately 9 hours, and here are my impressions so far with my "Kirk Shepard"-character, a smooth talker not afraid to pull the trigger when necessary: The good things - The overall presentation, this has to be one Bioware's greatest strengths. - The graphics are self-explanatory. - The music is above average. - The Codex is a good read, since i like mundane and trivial information about people, places and different races. - It is (or seems) less linear than KotOR and Jade Empire. The "ok" things - The combat-system seems like it wants to be Halo or Gears of War with stats. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. - Character creation, it is a step above Jade Empire, with more options and classes to choose from. But it is expected, nothing incredible found here. - Role-playing so far. I haven't seen any substantial differences on how you deal with certain situations. It seems missions are done and mostly accepted, whether you are eXXXtreeme or not. But at least it has a nice flavor to it. The bad things - Characters: This and story are the most important factors for me to enjoy a game. Apparently, Bioware has gone the "realistic" route this time, which means that your companions behave and talk like normal people do. Thus, just like real life, they are incredibly boring and almost one-dimensional. - You can only talk to your characters on the Normandy. I can understand this design-choice when being in the middle of the battle, but in a non-combat area? It turns to the point of being downright awkward. - The story seems out of place and it hasn't even gotten my attention that much. With the atmosphere and tone heavily emphasizing on science and being realistic, and suddenly including prophecies and gods seems very unlikely step to take. - You can't directly control your team-members in battle, there is no excuse for this. - The dialogue-system makes my character say things that aren't intended at times. I have already, by accident, killed someone and doing pickup lines with a fellow NPC. Maybe i am new to this, but i fail to see on why this is better than in previous Bioware titles. - The inventory, yuck. It's KotOR all over again. However, the complaints about texture-popouts, framerate and slow elevator time seems to be unfounded. They haven't decreased my game-experience at least, and no freeze has occurred either. Finally, i have a really hard time to continue this game, since the most important factors for a great RPG, namely story and characters (IMO) haven't delivered at all this time.

Was i wrong? Then it is all good then.

Why those particular stats? Is being a high level magic user the best way to play the game? Cheers. In order to get everything out of the game (plot-wise), it is extremely important. Being a wizard helps, since it relies on those stats. My stupid fighter probably missed a 1/3 of the game since the important dialogoue-options depend on having high WIS/INT/CHA.

Uh? They gave Halo, Halo 3, Orange box, HL2 and Gran Turismo 10's as well. The only other ones made by Nintendo that got 10's where Mario 64 and Zelda: Ocarina of Time. And that's it. No other games have gotten 10's in the magazine's history.
-
Edge gave ME a good 7. In the same issue, Mario Galaxy got a 10.
-
Wait, what?
-
If you play as a wizard and max your WIS and CHA, i would say 40 hours. Add another 10 if you want to talk to every NPC out there. I tried once as a 'stupid' fighter with everything set on STR and CON and i was done with the less than optimal ending within 20-25 hours.

Volo, when finishing the game, care to confirm/deny if the story is like the one that i envisioned above?
-
KotOR style inventory? Do they even read their own forums? The inventory was one of the worst things with KotOR.

I think someone mentioned in this thread that this has gone from an american problem among its youth, to an international phenomenon in the western culture. Really sad.

Oh, i forgot. I will wait with my purchase until it has been reviewed at Zero Punctation.

I am probably not the only one here, but i am hearing the same that was heard when Jade Empire was released. "Incredible story! Role-playing options! Fantastic soundtrack! Interesting new take on gameplay! Best story since (insert other Bioware titles here)". When, in my humble opinion, i found it to have a very generic plot, role-playing options that really were boring, since they were tied to the same bad plot and setting, but the soundtrack was above average at least. The gameplay was underwhelming, and the character creation abysmal. Mass Effect seems to share similar problems. Well, at least the soundtrack seems ok-ish.

Seen it. Quite good actually.

I propose that there should be more titles higher up: 5000 posts: Lord 8000 posts: Emperor 10000 posts: Demi-God 20000 posts: The Nameless One

They're all part of the Aurora-project Seriously though, i do not mind research into the phenomenon itself, as long as they investigate them as Unidentified Flying Objects. It is however, a difficult task to do, since one can easily be associated with the "Aliensarealreadyhereplottingworlddominationwithloveandcooperatingwithillumi atimajestic12l0l!11"-people that take up 99,8 percent of all UFO-enthusiasts.

You misunderstood my point Personally, i love reading Nietzsche and i like my own occasional dose Black Metal, such as Emperor and Mayhem. My point was, why are they always using the same artists and writers as their inspiration to their twisted reality? Nietzsche just wanted to find a way for man to a good life without god(s) and create a morality of their own. And most Black Metal artists have said themselves that they are to music, as the horror-genre is for movies. I mean, by now, people should understand that already, matured to read between the lines so to speak. Maybe his parents failed to talk to him completely.
