The trailer is available at gamevideos.com (Sorry, no direct link). It was MANLY, and the american flag in the background worked perfectly

Final Fantasy X is a very good game by itself and by comparing to other Final Fantasies. Also, it is the perfect entry-game for anyone who has never played any RPGs , let alone jRPGs before. Easy to understand and the pacing is good as well. Final Fantasy X-2 shouldn't be bothered with unless you have played X, since the story is a direct continuation. Final Fantasy XII is fun if you only care about the gameplay. The rest (story, characters, music) is completely rubbish.

Stop hanging out with iMac-people. But seriously, one can irk or even dislike the less-than-stellar production values, load times and twitchy combat might not be their thing. But all that is forgiven with the roleplaying, adult theme (you know, people behaving as silly as real adults would, not general fantasy-esque), story and general atmosphere.

"lol wut" Exactly. But they need to release a trailer every 6-7 years or so.

Sequels you wish were being made
Meshugger replied to WILL THE ALMIGHTY's topic in Computer and Console
We should see it by 2020 then. That joke wasn't even funny when it was referring to Half-Life 2. At least it will be out before Duke Nukem "Forever", hahaha....haha....hah ha. I can even bet that there will be a Witcher 2 (or an expansion) before KotOR III. -
Which is why the Final Fantasy games are so much superior. There, you're the transgender protagonist who acts like a jerk for half the game before turning emo...and then send you're teammates to their death. Final Fantasy VIII, ahoy!

The only things that bother me with The Witcher are: - The loading times - The translation at times - The voiceacting is uneven - Lack of unique character models (An important NPC has the same model as all the other merchants) Other than that, it is really, really good.

Ah, i just had to try it I got a "Just-In-Time"-error and Visual Studio booted up, trying to debug Witcher.exe. This consumed 2.5 gig of my 4 gig of RAM and crashed the explorer. What did you got?

2008 is gonna be a lame year for games.
Meshugger replied to Bokishi's topic in Computer and Console
Final Fantasy XIII will be released in Japan in late 2008. Well just maybe, the rest of the world will have to wait even longer. As for the TSL project, i believe it when i have it installed. There's no news about any more NWN2 expansions and the rumored sequel/expansion to The Witcher seems like a vague idea at the moment. Dragon Age? Now that would be an interesting surprise. Fallout 3 will probably suck anyway. -
He pretty much nailed it. I actually have 3 real guitars at home that i play on a regular basis. But the later batch of songs in GHIII, such as "Raining Blood" by Slayer are even more difficult in the game at hard mode than playing them with a REAL guitar.

Wait, what?

Planescape: Torment? or was it Deus Ex? or System Shock 2? It's very hard to decide on which is THE best game.

Wondering why the english VO's are uneven at times? Journal-entries being a bit strange? Subtitles strangely cut short? Part of this is because Atari cut 20% of the dialogue and subtitles from the final release of the english version, compared to the polish version where mostly everything was left intact. But fear not, someone managed to get it to work: Linky. I can't wait to try this one out tonight. Now bring me the version with polish VO and english subtitles for maximum immersion!

I finished it this weekend as well, clocking in at 31 hours. I would give it something in the vein of 75-80 on my scale. The inventory is indeed very crappy, and the C&C is pretty much so-so. While the dialogue flows well for the setting Bioware created, but since i didn't like the setting very much, it didn't matter for me. The combat is somewhat similar to Bloodlines, The Witcher and Oblivion (Direct control of the characters actions) so it was pretty good, except for that i couldn't directly control my party-members in battle, boo! The story, pacing and characters didn't do much for me. Everything was dry and almost to the point of being sterile. "We-are-super-serious-soldiers-in-space" didn't work for me. Little to no sarcasm, no wacky or even remotely funny characters or places. Sometimes it felt like it was "CSI: Citadel Station!". And again, i could guess the story how the story would go after the very first meeting with the council. Overall, this was all done with an above average soundtrack and excellent production values and presentation. Too bad there were too many shortcomings for me to enjoy though. Still better than Jade Empire though. Oh, and KotOR >>>>> ME

I am currently playing it as well. Without going into too much detail, i can honestly say that this is my RPG of the year (MotB doesn't count, since it was an expansion), and also my favorite candidate for GOTY. I am playing on max settings @1280x1024 with smooth framerate. Choices and consequences work really well, beautiful artwork, great atmosphere and a setting that is way more mature than any other D&D-games.

I live in the southwest part of Finland, where the mean temperature is the same as London (= about 2 weeks of snow/year). I have to drive 400 km north in order to find some snow. I have to drive 1250 km to get to my favourite skiresort in Lapland. And i have no vacation in the nearest future either. taks is a spoiled kid with all his snow...and stuff

We're not that far from the 'Natural Born Killers'-scenario people, just you wait....

Probably due the fact women do contribute nothing. Maybe so, they sure are the very inspiration on why men build things with creat craftmanship, tries to find a new frontier, and paint canvases and compose incredible music. Women choose (theoretically) their partners, and the one with greatest success will be allowed to mate with them. If women would mate with hobos without second thought, we would never have left the jungle. When looking at societies where women are submitted to cattle, like in countries like Iran, and see how they have progressed.

^seen the trailer. There should be a separate thread about it somewhere. Still playing Mass Effect and The Witcher though, and the verdict so far for me, is that the former is a pretty good game, and the latter could be a classic.

What? The guy was still alive? Amazing.

Italy will not qualify from group C. For anyone else, it is a possibility

M games that would have been better rated AO
Meshugger replied to Calax's topic in Computer and Console
Yes. IIRC, the latest research showed that the average gamer was a 33 year old with an average income, well doesn't that sound like the Joe regular to you? Joe regular probably has/had sex with numerous of partners for different reasons, maybe he or she is already a parent? And here we have adults playing games where the content is designed to appeal to 14-17 year olds, which can be really frustrating. Violence and gore is pretty good to go, but games describing relationships that adults can relate to are a big no-no. But that's just the tip of the ice-berg, mature themes at general are currently in the backseat, without the notion of sex withstanding. Give us more than the puberty love, the chosen one must save the princess-scenarios. At least The Witcher and MotB is pushing in the right direction, but that's just in the RPG-scene. What about fps beside of Max Payne and so on. The movie industry and pop-culture in general suffers from the same issues. A good example is Aliens vs. Predator, PG-13? come on.... -
Blizzard and Activision to become dreaded mega-studio
Meshugger replied to Pop's topic in Computer and Console
Within the next 10 years, every game-developer and publisher that are targeting an global audience, will be an subsidiary of 2-3 multinational cooperations. Microsoft-AMD-Ati-Activision-Vivendi-EA for the western the americas. Sony-Toshiba-Square-Enix-Bandai-Namco for the asians. Midway-nVidia-Atari-Ubisoft-SEGA will be a middle of the road choice. Nintendo will be the only independent one. -
I will wait to comment about this until there is a somewhat official statement from the guy.
