  1. ^Jesus Christ. There shouldn't be any form of negotiation. 1) She should have her old job back, no sudden shiftchanges. 2) If the said job has dissappeared, they are liable to provide a similar one like the old job, with the same wage and benefits. 3) The company has no say on who from the union that should represent her. 4) Anyone with common sense knows that it is completely absurd and idiotic to demand a new-to-become mother to do nightshifts. Failure to comply on any of those terms and the company should be fined with heavy damages.
  2. There were other cases as well - that was not the first time he had been accused of that crime. The other case was a freakshow of epic proportions. I'll leave the juiciest part for you: Linky.
  3. Discrimination of any kind is against the Due Process clause of the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution (cue Enoch). You don't need legislation targeting specific segments of the population if you apply the law as it's written. In fact, you are creating further inequalities if you do. "Durr". It sure took a while before this was pointed out. Many seem to forget that almost every civilized society has the following norm: No form of discrimination on the individual is allowed on the basis of religion, race, sexuality and gender. Why make further exceptions?
  4. I have been to Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Holland, Luxembourg, France, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Lichenstein, Great Britain, Italy, and San Marino throughout my lifetime, and i still can't say that i have "experienced Europe" as a whole. I still wish to experience Greece, Spain, Iceland, Russia and maybe Poland, and the rest of the baltics. My advice? Take a year off and travel by train through the whole continent.
  5. Even if it is interesting with new OSs and the new ideas that they bring among them, i will stick around with Windows until Wine gets 100% compatibility (which is probably never), or if games start to offer better Linux support (which is also very unlikely). Maybe it will be fun "lets f*** around a little"-OS.
  6. It is something that i can live with in a game, however, I do not like the fact that a game contains videos of "what-if"-scenarios. It simply adds another layer of abstraction to the game, which i find a bit irritating. Each game is an experience in itself, adding "this is how it could have been!"-messages dimishes this experience.
  7. Entropy.
  8. All religious and spiritual questions are answered in Asimov's "The last Question". Read it, you will finish it less than half an hour. Think about it, all your questions answered within 30 minutes, isn't that great? What are you waiting for?! Start reading already! As of the show, i find it very discriminating. Where are the pagan gods with their Olympus, Valhalla, Kalevala? What about Shinto, where you worship everything, even the rock in your backyard? Satanism then? What about whatever the south african bushmen believe in? Aren't they "divine" enough? Boo!
  9. You did well. Many famous artists and stars relied on the booze or other stimulants in order to have the courage to face their audience.
  10. You're driving a car made out of awesome to the music of Children of the Grave(Black Sabbath), while running over the undead, while still having a cig and being cool about it? Instant buy on releaseday.
  11. Oh dear What an awesomely bad title.
  12. Infamous, dear god
  13. Would love to, but I have the technical skills of a tadpole. I am collating this precious source material, though, and will post spoof Bio-hype style puff-piece about how BOWL WORLD - SHADOWS OF THE SLUMBER-LICH is the most ground-breaking piece of interactive art since Pac Man (etc). There will be a really, really lame dark elf prestige class called DUAL-WIELD SCIMITAR DIETY or something, too. Cheers MC How about: Fables of the forgotten: The ressurrection of Darkness or, Otherworlds: The Lich empire Awaits or, Eternal conquest: The uprising of that thing that should not be or, Mystery Lands: The rise of the Immortal or, Legends of Drakl: The Malevolent Menace or maybe something completely dark and whimsical, Falkenlands Forgotten & Unforgiven or, The Kraathul Entrance or, The Sathanus Eclipse (of the devilish reference was to obvious, then The Dark Eclipse) or, something foreign and mysterious, like M
  14. Thinking about all the remakes that are being done at the moment, i think that it is time for a remake of "The Three musketeers". And like all new remakes, it has to be dark, mature, violent and contemporary. 150 million guaranteed at the Box Office.
  15. "Young man on acid, thought he could fly out of a building, what a tragedy. What a ****, **** him, he's an idiot, if he thought he could fly why didn't he take off from the ground first - check it out; you don't see ducks lined up to catch elevators to fly South, they fly from the ground you moron quit ruining it for everybody. He's a moron, he's dead, good, we lost a moron, ****in' celebrate. Wow I just felt the world get lighter we lost a moron, put on the hammer helmet I'm ready to dance. We lost a moron! I don't mean to sound cold or cruel or vicious but I am so that's the way it comes out. Professional help is being sought. How about a positive LSD story, wouldn't that be newsworthy just once, to base your decision on information rather than scare tactics and superstitions, and lies - just once. I think it would be newsworthy. Today young man on acid realised that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration; that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There is no such thing as death, life is only a dream and we're the imagination of ourselves. Here's Tom with the weather." :salute: to Bill Hicks. :mantear:
  16. 'harsh' or being honest? Why tip toe around the topic? He was a vile man who molested children and IMO got what he deserved. If this guy was some average guy who lived down the street from you all the facts the same except we wasn't a singer/celebrity there would be a lynch mob after him and most everyone would be dancing on his grave. But he had some hits in the 80s and only because of that some of you are blinded by that. Its sick and some of you should be disgusted with yourself for celebrating the life of a CHILD MOLESTER. Unreal how celebrities blind some people. I liked some of his songs in the 80s as well does not make him a good person. ...or the guy simply was never mentally fit to become old. Maybe he stayed at the mental age of 8 for the rest of his life. None of his children is biologically his. I bet that he wasn't even interested in any form of sexuality to begin, because that was icky grown-up stuff. I also bet that he died as a virgin. I wouldn't dispute this and say its just as possible. Have you seen the items in his house? A pic of him as jesus with children following him, tons of collectible kid toys on display, a wall sized print if him dressed as royalty with words implying he is some kind of savior and immortal. It's pretty messed up and creepy. Either case he has at LEAST a unhealthy attraction to young boys or was guilty of molesting them. Either case IMO he got what he deserved like all people like that. Love karma. Many celebrities develop a form of jesus-complex during their careers. Undoubtly creepy, but it isn't the same as being a sexual predator. I can not tell whether his fascination for kids was of sexual nature or not either. Anyhoo, having karma involved would atleast mean to me that he died from being molested/raped himself. Or is that irony? No matter.
  17. You assume that I actually purchased this computer, and further that I own it. I have never bought a new computer. I am studying actuarial science. Ah, you're going to vote for parties that are Republicanesqu
  18. You misunderstand me. When i meant "the best thing ever", it was in the context of the artist wishing to do the best creation that he wishes for himself. Not by doing something in order to satisfy focus group results and maximizing of profit according your linear programming charts. The first(art) can have higher priority than the latter(profit), without sacrificing creative integrity. If it is the other way around, then it is "selling out". According to these statements, Bioware has not sold out at all. It is true that one can interpret some of their design choices as a result of satisfying their base, but they are still true to what they try to do: 1) Make RPGs 2) Make the very games that they want to do
  19. Yes, you call it "change". While "change" by itself can be a good thing, but in this particular case, I call it "despicable behaviour".
  20. Of course, and when they prioritize money (sell as much as possible) over the art itself (make the best thing ever!), they hereby sell out.
  21. That would be too easy
  22. The term "sold out" is also often used when artist(s) compromise their creative integrity for the sake of making more money than they already do. Do not get me wrong. Every artist wants top make a ****load of money and be financially independent, so to speak. However, the art that they create, whatever it may be, is usually the first priority. Anyone with a sense of backbone, character and integrity knows that. For example, Michael bay makes bad movies that really sell, but he has not sacrificed his creativity, since he has been pretty consequent in his vision (= special effects, explosions, teenheroes and female boobage). The minute Bay will start talking about "reaching out", "expanding the base" and "making a movie that anyone can enjoy", then he has sold out by the very definition that i provided.
  23. There's an actual "friends list" on this board? It sure shows what i know. And Lord of Flies: are you perhaps studying something within the field of humanist studies? or maybe political science? Please prove my assumptions wrong.
