Was Ayn Rand a moron?
Did get all of this correctly? Objectivism is subjective since it is bound to the human will of whether to be rational or not? And judging by the reviwer's opinion on "Atlas shrugged"; objectivism is borderline fascism? Here i thought that it was about every human being having the right to his or her own life and to persue their dreams as long as it doesn't conflict with the right to life of others to persue their dreams? While i do not subscribe to objectivism, as i am more of an existenialist myself, i am however very confused by the links Pop provided.

12 string guitars are actually quite common Although they're more typically used acoustically, such as in classical guitar. At least at one time. My mother had/has a 12-string Martin acoustic. Very nice. 12-strings have a wonderful tone to them (think Eagles or Led Zeppelin). A really well made one will cost you in the vein of 5 figures though

It is a regular electric guitar, but with two extra strings that are within that lower the bass-range. The standard tuning is as follows on a regular 6-string(Low to high): EADGBE While on a 8-string it is like this: F#BEADGBE Here are some examples on how that extra low range sounds like: Take 2

lay down some sweet riffs and upload them so we can make fun of yo-- er encourage your progress. hahaha Jerkface! But I agree, upload some tunes, Tig. And I liked seeing the cute little bugger, LC. The geese were nice, but I know how mean geese are in real life. Keep them in photos! I couldn't afford an amp so I'm still on the Marshall practice amp, and my skills are pretty deplorable. Nevertheless, I probably can't resist getting photos of it up at some point. Congratulations for a well invested purchase! I had my eyes on the very same model, but my budget didn't allow it the time. I had to settle for this though:

Was Ayn Rand a moron?
The idea of tariffs are a serious no-no for Objectivists, they see it at collectivist ideas and inherently evil. Randians do not like the US being a superpower based on the current stream of events (the aftermath of the cold war). About the third/post-colonial world, it has to do with their natural resources, high corruption and tribal mentality. Take a look at Botswana for example. With no natural resources of their own, they had to develop their own country by themselves, with their own means and traditions and look at them succeeding.

A Song of Ice and Fire
I actually have no idea of what this series is or what is about and why it is special.

Was Ayn Rand a moron?
There is no good or evil. Before we are entering Nietzschian territory, i would like to add that Rand is useful when arguing against "people for statism" and their loony friends. I disagree on Rand on many things though: Social Security, welfare, healthcare insurance and so on, in which she claims that these matters could be handled by the kind hearths of free and good men. Sorry lady, we tried that, and it didn't really work. I think that Walsh is on the right track (maybe we need to change the numbers though) but i think that we maybe need to call the evil guys "buggers" or something, since they more or less spend their time annoying everyone else.

TSL Restored Content Mod
It seems like someone is already being a bit feisty about it. (scroll down to Insidious post) I wonder what his "position" originally was I was asked to help with writing M4-78. Not that it's any business of yours. Whoa, relax, it is just a mod after all. Anyhoo, i am getting this tingling sense that i had 4 years ago when TG originally started.

Obama, Pentagon Consider Banning Tobacco in US Military
Because if you had actually been in anything remotely resembling a combat outfit, you'd know better than to go around pontificating with these "facts" of yours. And considering that there are cases of world-class athletes who smoke, I have a hard time imagining you have a clue at all. You never saw a smoker lung, huh? Small, black, snail-formed gooish something. Don't tell me smoking doesn't affect a soldiers's endurance, because it does. Of course, it always depends how much you smoke, but say you get 12 cigarettes a day, after 10-15 years, you're going to have a desk job, or as Pidesco said, you're going to throw darts. See you on the battlefield running out of air, you heavy smokers! Are suggesting that non-smoking is a strategic advantage?

Because it makes sense and therefore, there is no counterargument.

Obama, Pentagon Consider Banning Tobacco in US Military
You haven't served in the military, have you? Sure I did, but smoking was prohibited during duty. What's your problem? Something tells me that you aren't telling the whole story.

Kaftan makes fun of Isaac Asimov
I have posted this in another thread, but Asimov had a great sense of humor. "The Last Question" should be read by anyone. You finish it within a cup of coffee.

I saw it last week. The whole thing was a pure bliss, and Penn's language is just the dot over the "i".

Obama, Pentagon Consider Banning Tobacco in US Military
Link:http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/07/11...trike-military/ I'm curious what everyone thinks here. I have my own opinion on this of course but before I elaborate I'd like to hear from you guys first. I think this story is very telling about more than just banning smoking in the military. What's the problem? Stringent health requirements are required to enter the military. It's well known cigarettes destroy your health in like 10 different ways (cancer, emphysema, bone degredation, cardiovascular weakening, gum disease, etc). It should be obvious why the military would ban its consumption by soldiers. Like to make up claims much? Obama's been struggling with giving it up for a while. His wife and daughters hate it. http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/20...bacco-bill.html Please, please don't try and assert that he's lying and is just saying all that because he likes to "expand the role of government and keep the little guy down" or some rubbish. No one is disputing the health risks with smoking. Look, I have served in the military and let me tell you one thing: No superior officer is going to run around at the brigade checking for whether a soldier smokes or not. They got better things to do, and most importantly, unnecessary force of disciple is a disaster for group morale. I am not talking about smoking during military practices where you're using live ammunition or at times of war; of course smoking is prohibited then since it gives away your location to the enemy the second you light up. No, I am talking about what most soldiers do while serving the military: Waiting. Waiting while standing guard in the middle of somewhere, waiting for the new orders at the brigade, waiting for food, waiting for your time to sleep. That's when most soldiers take the time to relax with a smoke.

Everyone wants to be the cool kid.

Obama, Pentagon Consider Banning Tobacco in US Military
That is true on personal level, as i smoke myself. However, i am talking about the social phenomenon of smoking beeing tied to rebellious behaviour.

Obama, Pentagon Consider Banning Tobacco in US Military
As long as smoking is part of the "sex, drugs and rock n' roll"(cool), "live fast and die hard"(cool) and generally rugged and anti-authoritarian imagery(cool), people will continue to smoke. If those in authoritarian positions(state, head of coorporations, police, judges, teachers, boring parents) and those who worship them, started to smoke and even publicly promote it, then smoking would dissappear within a generation.

Obama seems to be pleasantly surprised by that butt. Sarkozy has already made his mind about the very same butt.
