As I understand it, he was the MAIN writer of Torment, though far from the only one.

Questions the the Devs - Take 2
Ivan the Terrible replied to EnderAndrew's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
What are you talking about? Everybody knows Han Solo shot first. Han Solo shot first. Han. Solo. Shot. FIRST. DAMMIT! -
In order for a sequel to work, you can't make two seperate games based upon the decisions made in the first, and yet of course KOTOR II allows us to choose what happened in the first game. Therefore, the two endings of KOTOR have to meet on common ground. They have to lead the player to the rough set-up of KOTOR II. Given the disparity in outcomes between the Light Side and Dark Side endings of KOTOR, that's a pretty hefty task. So if YOU were a designer on KOTOR II, how would you reconcile the difference? If the player chooses a Light Side ending for the first game, how would you explain the Sith winning everywhere at the start of KOTOR II when the Star Forge is gone and the Sith fleet seemingly decimated in front of it? If the player chooses Dark Side, how would you conveniently remove such a massive plot problem as the Star Forge from the equation, while sending a Revan who now is seemingly the undisputed master of the Sith armada into exile?

This thread had such potential....

How ready are you?
Ivan the Terrible replied to nightcleaver's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Pfftt. Until you back up your words with actions (like refusing to buy KOTOR II), why should Obsidian care? You may think it's reheated leftovers being served, but you're still going to eat it. -
Heh. Well, this topic has developed into something interesting, but I probably should have just posted it in the RPG and Games forum. The Developers are either too busy or not forthcoming.....

June 16 1999 verses June 16 2004. Hell of a difference if you ask me. Yeah, but then we don't live in a Galaxy where governments last 20 millenia.

As someone on here is fond of noting, hopefully the developers will understand that 'strong woman' does not always equal 'bitch.' At least, not necessarily. It's only when said woman fails to bring me a beer that she gains that distinguished title.
-
Hopefully not. Obsidian is a small enough company, I suspect, that they wouldn't have a Corporate Commisar gazing over their shoulders. If any developer replies thusly, however, I suggest they have their tongue stapled to their forehead.

This thread is funny and sad, all at once. *waits for someone to retort with obvious comeback*

Ok, fun topic for the esteemed individuals working feverishly to bring us entertainment at Obsidian: You have an unlimited budget, your choice of anyone you want to work with (and as many people as you need), the license to any game world or series or whatever you damn well please, and absolutely no obligation to make a profit. What game would you make? What, for you, would be your 'dream game'?

This bugged me in KOTOR. The 'name generator' came up with a first name and a last name for your character....but every character would address you as if you had only picked a first name. Maybe it's common in Canda to regularly refer to people you meet on the streets by their full name rather than just their first, but goddamit if it wasn't annoying in KOTOR. After the first game, I just used one name and omited the family name, and really it isn't a big deal....but since Deus Ex was capable of seeing the difference in 2000, I can't imagine it would be a HUGE deal if KOTOR II were capable of telling the difference.

Don't Forget: The Phantom Menace - A Star Wars movie turned out absolutely gut-wrenchingly awful.

Questions to the Devs
Ivan the Terrible replied to Craftsman's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Let's see.... It's got lots of Magyars and Hungarians don't like Romanians. Am I close? -
Who's dissing New Reno? It was the best area of Fallout 2.

Architect of the Sith
Ivan the Terrible replied to Darth Jebus's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Second this. For all the Sith talk about 'passion', they seem a pretty cold lot. Malak wasn't exactly overflowing with emotion most of the time. -
-
The fact that, in the whole of the OT, we scarcely (if ever) see an Alien fighting for the Empire kinda lends support to it, though. But then, it would make Darth Maul as Palpatine's apprentice rather unusual....
-
The Sith won't occupy Coruscant. That would be Obsidian relieving themselves on everything we know about the Star Wars universe.
-
Drama Too bad Obsidian didn't bring the Lawrence of Arabia Drama pic with them.

Not from the developers, but from the Expanded Universe: Dxun- Dxun, one of four moons orbiting the planet Onderon, is home to numerous bloodthirsty monsters. Due to Dxun's erratic orbit, several of the creatures were able to migrate to the surface of Onderon ages ago during a brief period in which the two worlds' atmospheres intersected. Four thousand years ago, after Queen Amanda of Iziz was defeated by the Jedi, the inhabitants of Onderon built a Mandalorian iron tomb on Dxun to house the remains of the Queen and the Dark Jedi Freedon Nadd. Exar Kun later visited the tomb, where the spirit of Nadd helped him discover some hidden Sith scrolls. In the Dark Side Sourcebook for Star Wars D20, Dxun is listed as an example of a Major Dark Side site due to the corrupting influence of Freedon Nadd and the Queen. As such, an already dangerous place became much, much worse.

New Planet...plus 2004 release rumor
Ivan the Terrible replied to TKEON230's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Ok, good. Glad to hear it. Don't mean to doubt the folks at Obsidian, but I'm always leary when I hear a game has conveniently been pushed up to hit the Holiday season..... -
New Planet...plus 2004 release rumor
Ivan the Terrible replied to TKEON230's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I remember saying the same thing to myself before Fallout 2 was released. On release, Fallout 2 should have been renamed Dude, where's my car?
