Greetings fellow shinkers. I've been playing grounded 1 for quite a while... like alot. It's my #1 survival game out there. In terms of time played only Don't Starve Together wins by comparison (with around 800ish hours played). I hopped in Grounded 2 yesterday with my buddy and after 2 hours I have some opinions. I'll try to keep this spoiler free as much as possible. I enjoy new enviroment. It gave me the refresh I needed after long hours of Grounded 1, where I knew every spawn of every wolfspider, black widow, or bombardier beetle. However stright from the get go I got hit in the face by few issues that might not be a problem for some (as some "journalists reviews" prove). 1: new inventory UI - this is terrible design choice. Looks way too plain and simplistic and actually this seems to me more of a placeholder graphics untill we get the real one. Get the one from Grounded 1 for the time being it was perfect. Don't try to fix what aint broken. - I don't mean the character model on the right with slots, that bit is fine and it's a welcome change from grounded 1 (alhough the slots look awful just the way backpack does). 2: Omni-tool - I hate the idea. Well maybe not the idea it self but execution. I understand that the logic behind it was to safe some inventory / hotbar slots free for weapons and consumables? (or at least I hope that's the reason behind it), but the execution is rather lacking. The fact that I need to walk up to interactable object and ONLY then I need to hold "E" to be able to use omni-tool is in my opinion a huuuge step backwards from Grounded 1. Axe was not only my cutting tool but also my top 3 favourite weapon untill tier 3 2H swords came in. The fact that I was able to run around freely swinging my axe and cut down grass WHILE fighting a wolfspider at the same time gave me that Ninja Scroll moment during a fight in a bamboo forest... (what happens when there are 2 different objects very close to each other and each requires a different omni-tool to extract?) My solution to this - make Omni-Tool an existing item. Put it in a slot and alow it to be equipable. Give it a toggle option (like press a designated button to cicle back and forth which omni-tool mode you wish to use) but alow the omni tool to be used with atk button not "interact" button. This will STILL reduce the space it takes up in our inventories, but makes the gameplay smoother. 3: visual cues - Charged attacks and perfect parry animations - There is no need for all the sparklings and shiny effects when I charge my weapon for heavy attacks. Frankly it looks ridiculous and is very annoying. This wasn't a thing in Grounded 1 and I see no reason whatsoever why it should be in Grounded 2 4: The bug ability to block attacks is a nice touch thou, but the visuals are also a little bit too extravagant. For refernce see how hitting a roly poly that has been tuckered down felt like. No one had any doubts that attacks have close to none effect, by the sound and feeling. Do that instead of strange knock back (that sometimes sends my little kid up into air) and visual impact animation that is way over the top. 5: animation glitches - I have no idea if Grounded 2 uses new or the same engine as Grounded 1. Mosquitos for example look and feel almost exactly the same as those in Gr1 BUT in 1 it never happened to me that a mosquito that missed it's roundabound attack missed me ... then all of the sudden teleported near me and hit me despite the miss. It feels like there is something off with hit boxes or that the displayed attack animation missmatched actuall point of attack. The same thing can be said about mites for example. They jump where I was second ago... and yet the still hit despite the fact they shouldn't and sometimes they don;t hit me, when I feel/see they should have. I know it's a post full of negativity but it's only because I'm saying about things that don't sit well with me. I can't praise everything I feel is better because it'd be a MASSIVE post. TLDR - make it more Grounded 1 with new enviroment and bugs xD P.S. the voice acting is top knotch. The corporate lady does an AMAZING job so far.2 points

Hello to all. I'm creating this thread to try and help the dev team as well as other players try to fix and avoid the same issues. I hope you take a moment out of your day to post something that didn't act right in the game, or something you don't think is acting as it should. May the odds forever be in your favor. At the location on the map below you can see that there is a tear in the fabric of reality and thus I can see into the pits of oblivion.1 point

As discovered by Defaault on reddit, there is a bug where all equipment on a character will disappear if the character is wearing Strand of Favor and is hit by the spell Form of the Helpless Beast. The above video uses a modified version of Form of a Helpless Beast to demonstrate this, but otherwise this bug is vanilla behaviour. From what I can tell it seems to be caused by -10% Hostile effect duration from the Ward of Favor enchantment reapplying as the spell wears off. I've test a few other items that do reduce Hostile effect duration and Arcane Containment on Cabalist's Gambeson is the only one I have found that also causes this bug. Things like Lone Wolf on Ring of the Solitary Wanderer seem to be safe for whatever reason.1 point

I think the hotpouch in grounded to should let you move in game while having it opened. I just think it sucks when your mid fight and have to open the hot pouch and chose something else while not moving.1 point

Hello, my name is Rafa and i'm a big fan of Grounded. I want to ask for the devs to make a way for us change even more the graphics options, my gpu is already really old and I'm running the new game at an average of 20/15 fps. I know it's a pc problem, but it would be really good to have more options to personalize the graphics and have a better life quality.1 point

Yes! I have the same problem, there could be a performance mode to activate in the settings that would make the game look bad but performant. It's literally the only thing im complaining about, all I want to see is a performance option.1 point

Super excited to start back up me and the gangs empire but I did notice a few things. Currently when you are moving if you use the hot pouch it forces you to stand still while you choose even though it uses a different joystick. This unfortunately causes a lot of issues when I’m combat or when running away because it just invites damage. Another thing I noticed when setting up our base is that you now need to hold B to delete blueprints that haven’t been built. This unfortunately makes it difficult to delete blueprints that you can only reach by jumping because you don’t have enough time to hold B to delete. Previously you could just press B for deleting blueprints and hold B for items you have already built to prevent accidental loss of resources. One other small yet funny thing I noticed is that when equipping the grub goggles it gives you an extra face on the back of your head. At least with Pete it does. I love being in the tiny wilds again and I can’t wait to see what’s to come!1 point

Same gameplay with new characters and a few different abilities. It only has one morality axis - you either do good or do evil. That is a bit disappointing. It also has a very small cast of heroes. You recruit the full team and that's it. They can't die though. About 20+ hours of gameplay. A bit more compact, but since you like the original you will like this. And the characters have different enough gameplay to the original classes that it doesn't go stale.1 point

I have always been a big fan of 2 handed weapons. For example, in the first Grounded, the mint mace was my pride and joy in most of my playthroughs. In Grounded 2, I love the new class system prioritizing bows, daggers, sword/shield, and magic. But I can't help but realize that my beloved 2 handed weapons currently seem to be getting neglected. It would be awesome if there could be a sort of 2 handed brute or tank class to give 2 handed weapons some much needed love. There are many cool things that could be done, like making the user super tanky, boosting 2 handed attack speed and/or stun damage, boosting 2 handed block power, etc. Idc what route is chosen, I just hope that my 2 handed weapons can get some love. #Justice4Clubs1 point

Is this a real trailer? (apparently it's a "Prime Video" release movie) "DATA IS THEIR FOOD" "IT'S WORSE THAN YOU THINK." YT comment: "The budget for this film was the price of an ice cube"1 point

One mission, because of healing, I ended up with three knights on the team who can give extra action points to others. That made for an interesting run, with one knight supercharged, running around like speedy gonzales. My Balan got an artifact pretty early on that let him teleport to the next enemy on kill. Love items like that. Waiting to see what you think of the stand alone roman expansion.1 point

I manually saved before reloading, but can't load any(!) of my savegames. No matter which I load, manual or autosave, it always ends up on a savegame that is about 2 hours of progress behind! Anyone els with this kind of problem, or a solution!?1 point

The only issue with YT is that it pushes the slop to the forefront, so it's hard to discover good channels. It makes it seem like that is all there is to it.1 point

I think they made it a bit more lenient with recruiting heroes. At first you had to recruit them the moment they became available or they were gone. Basically punishing players for not having characters die. They wanted this to be the "hardcore your heroes perma-die every other mission" experience. The game is a series of a lot of dumb design choices. It is a surprise they still managed to produce a fun game - it happened completely by accident and counter to all efforts by the dev team Faery Knight was among my top choices. Balan, Guinevere, Morgawse, Faery Knight, while Leodegrance, Bedievere, Geraint, and Boudicea got swapped in whenever others were healing. I mostly missed out on trying Morgana because of her just not filling a spot that wasn't covered by my other heroes.1 point

Probably better if I reply in this thread, rather than the Any way to make companion idle poses available for player character. Of my mods Deadfire Collected Fixes is probably the mod that's most likely to conflict, since it makes a lot of changes to .conversationbundle files that don't support partial edits. If you have any question about compatibility with specific mods let me know! (Everything contained in this spoiler tag was written before I saw your recent posts so you are probably already aware of what I was trying to explain in it.) If you need to rearrange mods and the in game mod manager is a little unwieldy with how long mod list has got, you can also use the "modconfig.json" file that is generated when loading the game to rearrange the load order of mods. For windows this is located under: %userprofile%\appdata\locallow\Obsidian Entertainment\Pillars of Eternity II\modconfig.json It'll look something like this: { "Entries": [ { "FolderName": "Silent Corporate Logos", "IsLoadedFromSteamUGC": false, "Enabled": true, "AbsolutePath": "G:/GoG Games/Pillars of Eternity II Deadfire/PillarsOfEternityII_Data/override/Silent Corporate Logos" }, { "FolderName": "PoE2-EnhancedUserInterface", "IsLoadedFromSteamUGC": false, "Enabled": true, "AbsolutePath": "G:/GoG Games/Pillars of Eternity II Deadfire/PillarsOfEternityII_Data/override/PoE2-EnhancedUserInterface" } ] } Each entry is contained between a set of {curly braces}, and moving it up and down is as simple as cut & paste. Make sure you have a comma after closing curly brace} of each entry, with the exception of the last entry. So the majority of Deadfire mods on nexus are mods that change gamedata. The file format used for gamedata (.gamedatabundle) support partial edits. What this means is if a modder wants to change specific things, like say making a Combat only ability available outside of combat, they only need to include the lines relevant to the change in a .gamedatabundle in their mod folder. When the game loads it will override just the changes made by this file, and for anything unmodded load the default values. So as long as the gamedata mods aren't changing the same lines, and the modders have followed best practices and aren't including unnecessarily lines of default values, gamedata mods are less likely to conflict. However this is not the case with mods that make changes to things like conversations as the files responsible (.conversationbundle) don't support partial edits. So even when making a very minor edit, like say adding a script to give the player money, the modder must include all unmodified contents of the file as well. Otherwise their changes won't function. This means there will always be an override conflict if multiple mods make changes to the same .conversationbundle file, and whichever one is lower in load order will be the one that wins out.1 point

Clive Barker’s books were always one of my favourites, to bad it is almost impossible to get them here Hopefully this will not put any stains on his work.1 point

Yea, I think I'm in for quite a bit of trial and error with this. Which as I said, is fine and I'm looking forward to because when it's 'your' game and your installation, it kind of forces you test things and understand the ins and outs, which gives you more insight on the way these game engines compile things and how the mods interact. Thanks for replying.1 point

I decided to put together a list of my favorite series over the last decade or so to see what else might fall into the same pot. In no particular order: Fringe The X Files Firefly Picard* Psycho-Pass* Cowboy Bebop Person of Interest Dollhouse Orphan Black Handmaid's Tale Andor* The Walking Dead The Good Wife ER Deadwood Hell on Wheels *Recently watched or still watching. For some reason I seem to like female protagonists, usually in some mix of sci-fi, western, or medical drama. I no longer enjoy procedurals, crime shows, or musicals. Any suggestions for future viewing?1 point

The way I read it, this is a "framework" for a trade deal. The details have yet to be worked out, and those may balance the equation depending on the particular classes of goods. I suspect Germany supports it because of their energy needs (per Russia embargoes); France, naturally, does not. The revenue differences may instead be balanced out with digital taxes, &c. Then again, DJT is known for his negotiating flakiness, so who knows how long it will last?0 points
