I've realised why I was not getting to the threads from the Obsidian Community page directly - the links are bound only to the exact text and not the whole space where I would expect the link to be (e.g. the last poster or the date of the last post). The All Things Political Topic
Participated in the Together Alliance (anti-far-right) march in London yesterday. The numbers were higher than the fash march last year (500K vs 100K). I did not stay for the speeches, as the bloc I was in (LGBTQ) was at the tail and moved slowly.

Do you really still expect redacted to apply reason or logic to problems at this point? He has an undisciplined mind and can't even properly communicate his reasons for going to war. We know he has immense difficulty accepting a loss, and nuclear weapons are the ultimate trump card for when events go badly wrong. "But he is not insane" Are you sure about that? He satisfies all criteria for "narcissistic personality disorder" in the DSM-5. There may be other co-morbibity conditions present, but narcissism explains most of his behavior.

The All Things Political Topic
Another bunch of refueling planes and an AWACS (! total loss, couldn't have been done cleaner with a Ginzu) appear to have been hit at Prince Sultan Air Base by Iran. This is separate from the incident a while back where half a dozen were hit, and separate from the collision (or 'collision') that killed one of the plane's flight crew. That's as much as 10% of the total fleet out of action now, and even though they're being replaced a completely unsustainable rate of loss. (one might opine that it was highly incompetent leaving a dozen or so planes in a beautiful ordered formation on the tarmac after the experiences of Russia and Ukraine... but it probably isn't. If you don't have hardened shelters you don't have them; and they're big planes. Does make you wonder if a site as well defended as Prince Sultan is getting hit what other places are as well that we aren't seeing)

Gedonia (Steam shows 70 uploaded screenshots) A level 6 powerful wizard. I'd think that verbal abuse would decrease the defence, but whatever works. Threatening a minor. Better than looting from the corpse, I guess. How? And why? FPS dropped to 15. Is the mysterious assassin an assassin? Defeated 1 lurker at lvl21. Then there were 6 more deeper in the cave. The dagger was the same as the one I looted from a random chest in the next area. But good stats. A drakeling boss. Not hostile, but not recruitable either. Kings' Tomb it is not. Debating by tapping E. Was their demigod/Chosen One nailed to a cross too? Very hardcore barbarians - sunburn-resistant and brought wood with them. The main story I joined the not-Ewoks faction after completing several quests for them and still needed books to learn about them. The quest was the opposite of epic.

What are you Playing Now? Volume XIX: The New Beginning of the End of the Middle
Finished Gedonia. I guess it is the "Crimson Desert we have at home". The writing, from the main story to dialogues to world building to environmental storytelling, is atrocious, while the bugs can softlock the game. The FPS in the cutscenes drops to 15 and the PC is auto-dialoguing in the main story with the player having no impact. 0 Alchemy skills? Does not matter, the PC still brews a potion. 1 Agility? The PC swiftly climbs a rope. Otherwise, it is a fairly charming action-RPG which reminds of the MMOs from the 00's, with the late-game bosses boasting tens of thousands of HP. It is also an impressive achievement for a solo developer. There are a lot of features, however shallow they are: you can recruit companions who have no quests and cease having a personality after joining. there are quests with different endings but no quest chains outside of the factions (which are linear and insultingly poorly made) and no further impact from the ones you complete. you can craft but the items are junk. you can build houses at a few very specific spots. I have not found out how to remove the things built, so one of them has a wall in the middle (the input is not disabled when you are in menus and selecting an object and placing it are the same button). you can explore the world, until you find a level-gated quest or dungeon, even if with your equipment you should be able to complete it. The visual style is the low-poly cartoon one, the sound design is fine, the VA makes me wish for the game to be VA-free. There are numerous bugs, from the input still working when the saving menu is open (so if the PC is in front of an interactive object, the interaction will occur) to the PC teleporting to random inaccessible locations if you try to skip the cutscenes. The game also sometimes ignores the settings which on one occasion resulted in having to sprint through an instance-type area at 15 FPS (I blame the grass). The positive aspects include: the controls are rebindable and generally comfortable. the saving is adequate (quick, auto-, and "hard" manual saves). the character creation and development systems allow to have diverse and unique characters. The equipment provides a good synergy with the skills and stats as well. exploration is fun when it works (some dungeons offer unique mechanics).

Nukes? Where did that come from, why would you ever think he would want to use nukes? That makes no sense. There is absolutely no chance Trump will use nukes in Iran. Its completely illogical and doesn't align to any military objectives that are inextricably tied to the economic fallout of this war Can you imagine what nuking Iran would do to global energy prices? Trumps arrogant, capricious, petulant and obsessed with his legacy and current popularity . But he is not insane Only a truly demented person would ever use nukes in this regional conflict

What You've Done Today...or yesterday...or what you are doing RIGHT THIS MINUTE!!!
Eh. You get used to the notion. I think fires, lately, are more of a threat to any individual. Edit: when I was young, these small tremors happened all the time. They don't seem to occur as much in the past couple decades (where one can feel them at home, I mean), which could be a good or bad sign. Who knows.

A few tips for 9070 XT owners who also have an Evnia 42M2N8900 OLED Monitor...and other remarks...;)
Still love the game--definitely an All-Star all-time contender. I do have one thing to report, every once in a while, even with 1.1.0.1 I am still getting the occasional Arkansas crash. As much as I can see, it appears to happen at times when there's a major shift in surroundings, like for instance I'm in one area and load a game save in another area, and it seems to be related to a texture contention of some kind--either in the bus of my PCIE 5.x GPU or inside the onboard ram in my 9070 XT, or maybe not....;) I can start over and load the same save and proceed from there with no further problems--until the next Arkansas crash--some number of hours later under similar circumstances. It also happens occasionally when moving into a different area with different terrain. But other than that, it's all good...;) I will say that I I've started the game from scratch three times, at the advent of a new major patch, and regret none of it! Having a great time with it. Let me also add that in my lowly opinion, this is the best thing to ever come out of Obsidian! I own many of Obsidian's games dating way back (I remember when Feargus was in the B&B circus doing high wire acts and that is going way back, indeed!)...;)

What are you Playing Now? Volume XIX: The New Beginning of the End of the Middle
Yeah, ofc different weapons have different attack patterns/skills. Spear is fun. Doesn't negate that the stats/dmg of each type ends up almost the same. I think most ppl don't upgrade lots of things/are still not even past chapt 3 and just haven't noticed. The puzzles are kinda interesting but I haven't found them hard (time consuming a bit at times) yet. And I liked the way Hogwart's game did puzzles a lot more. The no yellow paint notion seems more about the puzzles and features you may not realize even exist for 50 hours - there IS a marker to tell you general area to go to for quests. It's just one of those wide as ocean, deep as puddle sandboxy games. There will be "I love this" moments but also a lot of "this sucks/I'm bored".

Sadly no. There's tons of animals but so far they only seem to be for meat. I've become a butcher of chipmunks for food. 🤡

Unused Prefabs for creating Sidekicks/Companions?
This is a sequel/continuation of a sort to the Turning an Adventurer into a Sidekick? thread. This time we are looking at modification of the unused prefabs in characters.unity3d to create a new custom party member. This method potentially allows for something more feature than the Hired Adventurer with a conversation item I described in the other thread. However it does require a great deal more patience to get a functional character in game. There are some compatibility and logistical caveats that should really be solved before it would really be easy to share characters with others. That said here's a quick example of what can be achieved. What I want to highlight in the above video is: A specified conversation can be initiated by clicking on the character. When in the party the "Talk To " button appears on the UI that triggers the conversation. Adjusted appearance. The character's hair/skin/eye, and primary/secondary cloth colour can be any combination of RGBa. The head, facial hair, and hair models are restricted to the existing Player and NPC assets though. Scripts can be triggered on events like the party resting. In this example it's another conversation but could be anything listed in the documentation. What is needed?A tool for modifying the contents of assetbundles. UABEA is what I used for the above example. Then it is just a case of pretty much finding any prefab that contains the components: CharacterStatsMutable, CompanionInstanceID, Equipment, NPCAppearance, NPCInteraction, Portrait, and ScriptEvent. There are 13 such prefabs that are unused in the game: companion_caroc companion_ggp companion_gm companion_hiravias companion_sagani companion_test_barbarian companion_test_chanter companion_test_cipher companion_test_druid companion_test_monk companion_vspriest companion_vsranger companion_zahua and an additional 4 that are used only in the Backer Beta mode: companion_generic_fighter companion_generic_preist companion_generic_rogue companion_generic_wizard A couple of them are familiar names from PoE1. However their presence does not constitute any form of cut content. More likely these are remanets from various stages of prototyping or testing. Which of these lads is your favourite PoE1 companion? By filling in various components with the values and GUIDs pointing to certain gamedata (CharacterStats, CompanionData, and others) and a conversation you can get a custom party member! They can then be spawned into the game with a console command such as SpawnPrefabAtMouse, or as part of an encounter for a less intrusive ways. Though interestingly encounters seem to force the character into attacking so there is some jank in need of solving there. Would that this were only problem to solve... There's a catch.Currently the only way to achieve this is manually making adjustments to the prefabs components inside of the characters.unity3d assetbundle. Needless to say it's a very finicky process. Best worst case, the change you make doesn't take. Worst worst case, the game no longer works. And that is just summary of my past experience attempting assetbudle modding. I'm as shocked as anyone that I got anything to work! And if doing it yourself weren't tricky enough, you would need to explain how to import changes to others Does that make sharing the modified characters.unity3d file the best option? It is on the lower side of 2gb. Which is not massive by modern game filesharing standards sure, but given the changes made to it only account for something like a couple of kilobytes, it does seem a bit ridiculous to me. And we're back to square one when 2 independently created custom character mods want to be installed together! So, there are certainly some fairly tricky problems that need to be solved to make this viable in my opinion.

If Trump really is 'bored' by his war then at least the chance of him using nukes is at least reduced to negligible. He'd be more likely to just declare victory- for the howevermanyth time- and tacitly leave the mess to everyone else. Then invade Cuba; or Canada or Greenland. Given it's Trump those ors could easily be ands instead. If he decides to send in the troops there's a decent chance he'll take the inevitable fp drone videos of marines getting gibbed very personally* indeed. At that point things may get interesting. *not on behalf of the dead soldiers of course, but because it's politically embarrassing for him and will inflame both the pro and anti war sides of his voter base

Why dont torches stack?
Torches are not really optional if you're doing any caving, as the twisty tunnels are super dark. Torches not stacking means that if you want to be prepared you have to utilize a sizable portion of your inventory to keeping a light source available. I get that having torches of different durability stacking would be a hassle, but the slime torches that are unused all stack together, can we get the same for regular torches?

[Modded Subclass] Earthshaker Barbarian Subclass
KuaiBan replied to KuaiBan's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)Update 1.21 Hi all, the Earthshaker subclass has been updated to 1.21. I made a few balance passes to it and removed some unintuitive mechanic (namely Terramote and Crushing Boulder). This mod right now is sitting at a point where I am mostly satisfied with, and I encourage you to give it try. Thank you!

The All Things Political Topic
During the first term, the redacted cabinet was not quite as fawning, so it seemed like they were able to provide a filter on some of his more extreme decision making. This term his cabinet is mostly bobbleheads, agreeing with wherever his meandering ping pong of thought takes him. That's why we're seeing more bat-sh*t crazy decision making based on his irrational beliefs. I can only hope that doesn't lead to a decision to use nukes. The more frustrated he gets with his inept direction of the war, the greater the urge will be to nuke. Once that happens, all bets are off.

I spoiled my kitty and he got fat. -- j/k, it's a different black cat. At last a game where I can be a true "cat lady". Forget gameplay, I'll just tame cats for hours. Sadly, cannot rename. There's a few outfits to start, rumor has it one can get more. MUST GET.

Beware! Strand of Favor eats your items if you're a pig!
I think that actually might be a separate glitch? Did you have any of the above mentioned items equipped to the character? The glitch with headgear losing its enchantment is a strange one, and not something I ran into during testing. The Helpless beast glitch always tends to just delete all other items.

Beware! Strand of Favor eats your items if you're a pig!
Form_of_Helpless_Item_Glitch_fix.zip I moved the -10% Hostile effects duration to a passive ability instead, which does indeed seem to fix the issue. Though with the way this transformation works it seems like Helpless Beast removes abilities when active so the duration of the spell is unaffected. I don't know if that is intended behaviour for all transformation abilities?
