  1. I think the point is to filter away the activists and turn Labour towards the centre. So from Starmer's perspective it's worth the loss. The activists don't really have anywhere to go, they can't vote Corbyn in a national election. Labour is afraid of reform and pro Palestinian is a left wing academic or immigrant friendly place to stand. He's also afraid of the Pro Palestinian youth vote, the polling extremely bad for positioning yourself as pro Israel, which is probably why he reversed stance on the recognition of Palestine (a completely symbolic gesture) and there was also a genuine effort in the EU to cancel the trade agreement with Israel (actual pressure). That's going to fail though, that would be my bet. Defence cooperation and Ukraine as well as US relations will mean that any fig leaf or vague declaration of intent from Israel will be good enough to avoid it
  2. Im going Linux whenever they decide to force always online for logins, which might be soon.
  3. I think it matters a lot what the political elites and the establishment do. In central Europe there has been a tendency of going after pro Palestinian political protest, not as explicit as in the US, but I would say the German and UK governments in particular have been successful at casting doubt and marginalising the movement. the central European powers are pinned down by a sort of existential dread caused by shifting geopolitical realities, and they are afraid to isolate Israel. And doubtless the immigration and the right wing surge also plays a role. It's they don't want to give ground to right wing populists by assuming a traditionally left wing stance on Israel/Palestine.
  4. So there's no bloodlines in bloodlines. That's pretty underwhelming.
  5. I wonder how things might have looked on that front if not for Ukraine. If you look at the polls the Spanish and the Irish are the most pro Palestinian in the EU, by huge margins. They are also the furthest away from Ukraine.
  6. it can't possibly be "great". I'm going to watch an episode to prove you wrong.
  7. It's kinda what you would get if you asked a 5 year old to make the storyboard and ILM to shoot it.
  8. We might have reached the point of exhaustion for both parties. If so that will be the reason rather than Trumps pretty basic ploy of taking a maybe from Hamas and Netanyahu as yes from both.
  9. he looks like he's rocking an invisible baby
  10. I got myself a Lumix micro 4/3 pocket camera a week ago with the intent of just keeping it in my jacket and taking the opportunities for shooting things that might present themselves during the day. Today I decided I would go hunting for Russian drones on my bike ride. No luck yet. On a whim I ordered a tele lens, doesn't arrive for a week though. I'll have to hope "peace" doesn't break out before then. For context The Russians are running a hybrid campaign where they are pretending not to send in military drones over our airports and pretending not to threaten our coastguard helicopters and pretending not to attempt to hack and take down critical infrastructure. It's like the cold war all over again. Drone flight paths near Kastrup airport. I bike past there all the time.
  11. Maybe it will force developers away from spending all their attention on eye candy and action. One can hope.
  12. It's all happening right now I'm afraid, With AI powered facial recognition. American law enforcement wants what the British have had for decades already ; eye in the sky cameras on every major road. Of course they would rent out your data for targeted advertising as well, why not. Money is nice.
