If there's one thing in life that is overrated, it's booze.

Had my bronchoscopy this morning, and for the first time in ages someone took my bloodpressure; 220/114 iirc.

Good God, I hope you actually went to the appointment! That's hypertensive crisis there, brother. I would have thought they would admit you for readings that high. I hope you're feeling better and, more importantly, your blood pressure came down.

EDIT: I'm doing nothing today. I plan on doing nothing I don't want to do for the next few weeks. Probably won't work, but that's what I'm planning.

I'm going there on monday, I want to meet my doctor, the one that referred me to the lung specialist and keep the same one instead of many different doctors.

Edit; Oh, and I got myself one of those self test apparatus, at home and after a shower and actually being relaxed, averaged about 170/100. Still not good, but it's something.

Civilization, in fact, grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary. - H.L. We had our Christmas... excuse me HOLIDAY party for my office today. Yes, I was actually corrected on that score. Now, generally I do not socialize or cultivate friendships with the people I work with. For good reasons. But in this job, there are great reasons. Ever since the day I walked in the door I've felt like the gypsy that crashed the Royal Wedding. But beyond that I just don't like these people much. And I am certain the feelings are mutual. They don't drink. They don't swear. Most of them remind me of characters on the Big Bang Theory. One actually thinks Star Wars is intelligent social commentary. But during these office functions they get a little tipsy. Alcohol is like a magnifying glass. If you have any character flaws or personality short comings a little bit of hootch will bring that right out. It can be entertaining if you stay sober. During these functions  I just laugh at them and keep to myself because when I drink that little man that sits on my shoulder and keeps me from telling people i dislike to f--k off goes home.

You know.. maybe the problem is with you, not with them. :>

Well, my apologies for drunk posting yesterday. You know those breathalyzer things they put on cars? Laptops & smartphones need them too.

Hell, I know people who don't have any choice but to post drunk because they're never sober. Of course, those folks don't post at all to my knowledge, but... meh.

Speaking of booze, one of the fellows from my cohort and I are going to a local brewery for a beer tonight. The program is brutal and, with only 20 people in my cohort and 12 hour clinicals together, getting to know some of them before we start is a good idea. The orientation was good, but it's better to get to know each other in a less formal setting. So, a few of us get together and knock back beers? All good. I suggested Hanger 24. It's not my favorite micro around here, but it's the most trendy and recognizable. I just wish they had sour ales. Anyhow, I know more about the area than anyone else, being the only local in my cohort. Everyone else is moving from the coast, upstate, or out of state.

So, more good stuff.

Was going home from work sunday eve on the motorway, when a car cut into my lane when I was going to overtake him in a turn. I stepped on the brakes, got into a skid and hit the rails three times, and did a 360. Smashed the indicator covers on the front, some plastic details, plate in the left front wing and rear, and the bumper, bumper struts and frontcarriage has moved about 2mm to the left. The ****sucker that cut into my lane took off as did the two witnesses. Guess they were late for their TV shows.

For chirstmas I wish them all a long life full with broken bones, chronic disease and incurable cancer, ebola, malaria and anthrax for their loved ones.

Also, the ambulance personel reacted to my 250/147 bloodpressure and asked if I would go to the ER. Relented when the cops offered to drive my car to the ER and spent the night in an ICU were they pumped me full of meds to lower the BP.

So kudos to those two cops, also kudos for not actually acting of their fears, by their own confession they were scared ****less of me when I was describing the incident like "A growling bear that was ready to tear of someones head if a soft breeze rolled by"

Now I'm going to recover some sleep, only got an hour or two shuteye at the ICU since they kept taking BP readings and injecting sedatives.

Trying, but **** keeps piling up. Even if the car looks like a brown turd it's my car, won't get anything from insurance on it, so I have to pay for the repairs on my own. I've been working tonnes of hours and days extra to get money to improve the car and now all that is going to repairs, and I spent about 3000$ recently to improve the handling wich is now all for naught.

Did get a bunch of benzos to keep my chill, but... well... I don't feel they like they do anything.

Does it make noises when you swing it?

Yup, ignition noise and everything. Even makes the clash noise once in a while. Bit of a goofy gift but it's funny how I can't stop playing with it

As an alcoholic I gotta say that everything but booze is overrated.

I'd say the answer to that question is kind of like the answer to "who's the sucker in this poker game?"*

Read an article today on how the holiday season is a bother for non drinkers as people have to know WHY they don't.  Bit nonsense as you'd think the non drinker would tell inquisitors to **** off after a point, but was a neat coincidence.

Was pleased as punch to have put out 7 bags of clothes and 2 suitcases for charity and not have some scumbag steal it like last time.  Did have a neighbour actually ring our bell to tell us that storing stuff outside like that is an eyesore.  Damn yuppies.

Trying to work on the next draft version of my research paper outline.

I'm kind of annoyed by it all. We get told we have to use a specific structure, I get applauded for having different sections for methodoloy, breaking it down into stakeholder groups, how they'll be identified, the questionnaires, the interviews, ... but then it gets ripped to peices and I also get told that its not clear and I have to put everything in each section.  Which seems to totally ignore the whole point of having seperate sections talk about them individually. >_<

When you really need to do a last grocery run before the actual Xmas day but you also really don't want to deal with it so you procrastinate all day until it's 8pm...

Also, we finally found an auto shop place that actually did work on my car. I've taken it to dealers in two cities four times as well as the odd other mechanic now and then and I'd tell them to do everything, check everything (fluids, wires, brakes, whatever). They always claimed they did and it was "all fine", despite the fact the car kept running rougher and rougher. Suspicious all they looked at was the mileage of the car (very low) and their notebooks told them didn't have to check then so they didn't - without considering how old the bloody car is, low mileage or not. Book-lackey mechanics.

Place hubby finally took it to - "your headgasket needs replacing. Your spark plugs/wires, don't think one was even firing/they look very old (like never changed). We disabled/unhooked the alarm after checking to make sure nothing important was attached/reliant on it" and other stuff. Gave us this big box of parts they replaced. It runs/sounds much better now.

Well, the bills are all paid, the grocery shopping is all done. All the packages have been mailed. I've got dog food, chicken feed, and two cases of Sam Adams Winter Lager and a new bottle  of Four Roses. I don't see any reason why I'd leave my home until 2018. I think I'll buy Fallout 4 off Steam and give that a try now that all the DLCs are out.
