Being annoyed thqat police funerals are often 'over the top' doesn't justify some jerkoff playing a song like that out of spite. Only a scumbag thinks that is justified.  You soujnd like those religious nutballs who think it is okay to  harass funeral goers for whatever sick excuse they use. EVIL.

Sure it does, a case of jerks being rude to other jerks. The fact 20 cops went up to "talk" to the guy is also amusing. For all the shaven heads and shades, cops sure are giant babies. And besides, if he really wanted to be a jerk, he'd have blasted this : :p

Teacher shortage in Hawaii opens 1,600 jobs for those willing to relocate

If you’ve been considering a tropical paradise and Hawaii sounds doable and you’re a teacher then you may be pleased to know that there are 1,600 openings available for the taking! If you’re willing to relocate, then Hawaii wants to talk to you about saying Aloha to a new home!

Here’s the website to apply!

The average salary in Hawaii is $56,000 and they’re offering a $6,000 bonus if you teach special education, secondary mathematics and secondary science!

I guess you'd be living out of your car on that?

Wow, they need an average of six new teachers per school? Kooky. Maybe 56k is crap salary in Hawaii?

Yes, that is a crap salary for someone with a post-graduate degree. Sadly it is typical in education. That also seems to be the median salary, so starting would be much lower (34k was a number I saw.) Given the cost of living in Hawaii, they are actually dead last in what they pay their teachers in the US. This is all made worse by the fact you have one school district for the entire state, which is a terrible way to do things.

So yeah, I'm not packing my bags anytime soon.

edit: There are teacher shortages all over the country, so there are more attractive offers out there, even if the scenery isn't as nice.

Taking the sign forbidding people from taking things was a clever move

What is worse is her supervisor condoning it. Just beacause horrible things happened to their grandparents and such, doesn't give them the right to play around like they are owed anything by the world anymore.

Makes me wonder what kind of people they are raising down there, then again their governments treatment of palestinians does set a pretty low bar for how one is supposed to behave.

Civilization, in fact, grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary. - H.L. Another example of this mass insanity we call government. The city of Toronto has a a park with a steep rocky hill in the entrance. Several people visiting the park have fallen. The city was planning to build a wooden stair to make it safer. The bids to complete the job ranged from $65k-$150k. A retired auto mechanic went out there one weekend and built it himself for $550. The park visitors were over joyed. The city is furious. They have since blocked access to the stairs, they are demanding he tear them down, and he may face charges.

He paid a homeless guy to build it, also not sure he is going go face charges. 65k estimate (wasn't put up for a bid) a bit weird but the city has to cover their ass and build something that isn't going to go to **** after one winter and would need to make it concrete so that would take more work

The stairs don't actually look all that safe. 65k is crazy, but I can see why you want a professional to build it, and not homeless former mechanic.

Wait, hold on a minute.  65k-150k for roughly 10 meters of stairs?  What were they going to make the stairs out of?  Platinum?

Well it's $10k for the actual cost of the stairs. Then there is a little something off the top for the contractor and subs. The city inspector gets a little cut and the rest is divided up among the city council member who approved the project in the form of campaign fund donations paid (in name at least) as individual donations from all the employees of the company who built the stairs. Each unaware of their "generosity" or that the kickback ever happened.

How do you think career politicians retire millionaires on relatively modest salaries? All paid by the tax payer. Canada is nearly as bad as we are.

Nooooo! Don't do it! Don't ruin our relationships with our dogs! http://www.express.co.uk/news/science/832487/dog-cat-amazon-pet-translator-north-arizona-university

Not good! Our dogs know things about us we would not want getting out! The potential for blackmail is tremendous. Can you imagine you dog being compelled to testify against you? I'd be in trouble. Over the years they have known everything. Of course if dogs could testify OJ would have been convicted back in the '90s. So there is that.

Actually in all seriousness I would be very surprised if this story is on the level. If those prairie dogs (which are rodents, not canines) even could differentiate clothing color it would not be a fact they would find relevant enough to comment on to each other. It sounds like male bovine night soil to me.

Anyone who pays attention to their dogs (real or prairie) can learn to communicate with them real quick. Because they are definitely paying attention to YOU.
