Azdeus Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 A flat Earth would be a circle, wouldn't around still work? Globe. Civilization, in fact, grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary. - H.L. Mencken
Chilloutman Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 A flat Earth would be a circle, wouldn't around still work? around maybe, hardly a globe tho I'm the enemy, 'cause I like to think, I like to read. I'm into freedom of speech, and freedom of choice. I'm the kinda guy that likes to sit in a greasy spoon and wonder, "Gee, should I have the T-bone steak or the jumbo rack of barbecue ribs with the side-order of gravy fries?" I want high cholesterol! I wanna eat bacon, and butter, and buckets of cheese, okay?! I wanna smoke a Cuban cigar the size of Cincinnati in the non-smoking section! I wanna run naked through the street, with green Jell-O all over my body, reading Playboy magazine. Why? Because I suddenly may feel the need to, okay, pal? I've SEEN the future. Do you know what it is? It's a 47-year-old virgin sitting around in his beige pajamas, drinking a banana-broccoli shake, singing "I'm an Oscar Meyer Wiene"
Oner Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 A flat Earth would be a circle, wouldn't around still work? Globe. A globe is three dimensional, hardly flat. Azdeus Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 A globe is three dimensional, hardly flat. http://www.dictionary.com/browse/globe It's a three-dimensional sphere even, as it is defined. Atleast that is what I reacted to. As you said, you'd be able to walk around a two-dimensional object, but him saying globe does imply a round earth. Nonek Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 I was reading a historical novel today wherein a prominent Roman Patrician was mocking one of Caesar's Gallic chieftains for being womanly because of his wearing of trousers rather than the iconic tunic that showed off the masculine thigh, how times/culture changes. I'd love to see a game that reflected this but invariably one always ends up in doublet and hose, whatever the period or setting. I'm rambling again. 1 Quite an experience to live in misery isn't it? That's what it is to be married with children.I've seen things you people can't even imagine. Pearly Kings glittering on the Elephant and Castle, Morris Men dancing 'til the last light of midsummer. I watched Druid fires burning in the ruins of Stonehenge, and Yorkshiremen gurning for prizes. All these things will be lost in time, like alopecia on a skinhead. Time for tiffin. Tea for the teapot!

algroth Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 (edited) That's great. Kinda reminds me of a proposition a friend of mine did, where he said that had he been in Carl Sagan's place selecting the contents for the Voyager Golden Record, he'd probably have put this video instead: ...and fill the ship with vibrators. All to show that the Earth doesn't give a ****. We're the Moscow 5 of the universe. Edited November 30, 2016 by algroth My Twitch channel: https://www.twitch.tv/alephg Currently playing: Roadwarden
