I've never understood how IQ tests are relevant to anything. IQ is supposed to represent and individuals capacity to learn. How is a test that is centered on acquired knowledge helpful in that? Stephen Hawking was born in an advanced country where he had the opportunity to receive and education suitable to his intellect. Suppose he had been born in Kenya to farmers? He would still be just as intelligent only there would be little opportunity to do anything with it. If you give Kenyan Stephen Hawking an IQ test that asks questions based on acquired knowledge he'd probably get an 85 too.

This is normally exactly what people say who dont have  a high IQ !!! GD dont be a hater  ;)

Hey, I'm sure mine could boil water.... as long as we're using the right scale!

I dunno mate, tests I seen were more focused on logical thinking which doesn't mean 'acquiring knowledge' - its more a memory thing. IQ should be using this knowledge correctly. Reading a book (and remembering it) is acquiring knowledge. You can read whole math book and remember it, it doesn't mean you know math :)

I'm the enemy, 'cause I like to think, I like to read. I'm into freedom of speech, and freedom of choice. I'm the kinda guy that likes to sit in a greasy spoon and wonder, "Gee, should I have the T-bone steak or the jumbo rack of barbecue ribs with the side-order of gravy fries?" I want high cholesterol! I wanna eat bacon, and butter, and buckets of cheese, okay?! I wanna smoke a Cuban cigar the size of Cincinnati in the non-smoking section! I wanna run naked through the street, with green Jell-O all over my body, reading Playboy magazine. Why? Because I suddenly may feel the need to, okay, pal? I've SEEN the future. Do you know what it is? It's a 47-year-old virgin sitting around in his beige pajamas, drinking a banana-broccoli shake, singing "I'm an Oscar Meyer Wiene"

It's been a while since I took one but I remember quite a few questions that would have required a more-than-basic understanding of math & language

Well, not these I remember, if you don't count numerical series for example. More of tests were pictograms and such

  I just tried to take one online. They ad-bombed every page then wanted $10 to e-mail me the result. I think just enduring the pop ups should be a 10 point penalty and actually sending them money should be a 20 point penalty!

Come to think of it, the only popular litterature on the subject is the Bell Curve, but i haven't ever gotten myself to read it though and i quite certain that it has gotten quite the critique.

On the other hand, claiming that different ethnic groups developed in different conditions in different parts of the world for millennia would have no effect whatsoever in their group mentality or behaviour and that political theories is the only solution is also preposterous. I am however unsure where the nature ends and nurture begins (see for example Thomas Sowell's research on early 20th century development among black, jews and other minorities. Different factors and potentials for each group and all that).

My personal experience with so called high IQ is other types of insights are needed to somehow make it meaningful ...and most so called high IQ people dont have those other insights

Yes its a wikipedia article, but its sourced. The IQ differences are real, the debate is on the causes. Nutrition is a major factor, as maps of food security and average IQ are very similar, but at the same time there is a debate on whether socio economic status causes IQ differences, or the differences in status are a result of IQ.

Fix'd.

Come on, if you've had any conversation with the idiots who spam iq infographs and shout cuck every third word you know that they're suffering from some sort of mental illness and sexual frustration.

I have to admit that i'm obsessed with my IQ score...when i'm playing Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis.

Quite an experience to live in misery isn't it? That's what it is to be married with children.

I've seen things you people can't even imagine. Pearly Kings glittering on the Elephant and Castle, Morris Men dancing 'til the last light of midsummer. I watched Druid fires burning in the ruins of Stonehenge, and Yorkshiremen gurning for prizes. All these things will be lost in time, like alopecia on a skinhead. Time for tiffin.

Yes this is the normal comment that someone makes who wishes they had a high  IQ, realizes they simply dont but then uses modern technology to distract himself

I've met people with ridiculously high IQ. They seemed to be more obsessed with weird stuff, like using formal logic notation to prove the most efficient code written or dwelve into esotericism or metaphysics. Point being, they seem to be on their own plane of consciousness and not care about wordly stuff that much.

Why equate that with autism? Autism is a pretty wide spectrum of stuff...seems kinda silly to generalize like that when it really just boils down to idiots being idiots.

How I have existed fills me with horror. For I have failed in everything - spelling, arithmetic, riding, tennis, golf; dancing, singing, acting; wife, mistress, whore, friend. Even cooking. And I do not excuse myself with the usual escape of 'not trying'. I tried with all my heart.

In my dreams, I am not crippled. In my dreams, I dance.

To be fair, lefties have been called communists or socialists as a killswitch to stifle open debate for ages now so i see it as a natural progression of the times for the right to experience the same. The "fun" part comes when we see groups of people unapologetic to their beliefs in either spectrum marching down the streets, because that's where we are heading.
