So we found this ancient tablet in wreckage of a ship unearthed somewhere within deserts of Kharak.

It depicts the place of our origin. Homeworld. And the wreckage also contained hyperspace drive! Lucky those people still used stone to record their data, innit? All nations of Kharak united in joint project of constructing a large, interstellar space ship. (This is the bit where amazing music starts!) Today is the day of its first launch.

Mothership. Beautiful, innit? Time to test basic systems and accompanying craft. Targeting?

Check. Harvesting minerals from asteroids?

Check. Good, let's test our hyperdrive!

All right, we seem to have jumped somewhere AND we did not explode, success!

Well bollocks. Oh look, there's somebody over there! Guys. Hey, guys. That's the rest of our civilian population in those cryo trays you're shooting at.

... after dealing with *those* impolite bastards, we need to load cryo trays into our Mothership. And then...

Indeed. The small fleet and an unfinished Mothership is all we have now. That's all our entire civilization consists of. It's time we used it to do what it was built for, jump trough unexplored reaches of the universe, and reach our Homeworld. And if we get lucky, we might just punish the bastards who attacked Kharak. Or perish during the attempt.

That's one sexy dashboard.

When I drive across the country in the RV this summer, I am going to think about Keyrock driving the same roads virtually.  

Right now the game includes California, Nevada, and Arizona.  The plan is to eventually include all 48 states of the continental (or contiguous) US.  If ETS2 is anything to go by, some of it will be free updates (like Arizona was) and some will be part of a larger paid expansion.  Maybe they'll add some of Canada and Mexico as well eventually, that would be cool.  Cali has some really lovely coastal roads, but some of them are also rather narrow and windy, leading me to question what bit of lapse in judgement possessed me to drive a big rig on them.

That sounds pretty realistic.  Highway 1 is precarious and has frequent washouts.

Feels like I won the lottery drawing these two as my first ones (but maybe they ain't so bad compared to the others, time will tell...). The first one triggered in the end, and it wasn't too bad at this stage in the game, got a lot of promotions out of it, might be more of a pain later in though:

Also on the mission Else 'Swamp Thing' Hagen (aka 'Miranda', Grenadier) and Malin 'Chief' Andersen (Sniper, because two snipers is better than one, and also because all my other Rangers were in the med bay... )

 

Writing this down I noticed that was an all female squad, I'm sure Bruce would be proud

Rest assured the other girls will be ostracizing Jane after putting up those types of numbers.  I've watched enough "Real Housewives" to know that. 

It's interesting, Rangers tend to have those kinds of missions in the early game, but, at least for me, by mid-game they always get the "Never left concealment or fired a shot" award pretty much every mission, barring some bad luck that reveals them. If it weren't for concealment/Phantom, I don't know that I'd ever take a ranger (2 Sharpshooters, 2 Grenadiers, Specialist, Psi Op sounds pretty ideal to me.)
