everyone complains about F4 AFTER you give your money to Bethe$da (sorry to all pirates original.gif).... you will never learn..

Even with my problems with FO4, I thought it worth the money I paid for it.

So what? I did and I feel cheated. Next time I am going to look for some reviews before buying.

Well technically, as a game with a certain amount of content, it does deserve its price especially if you compare it other games in the market nowadays...

But I am happy I didn't give them my money. F4 feels like a "hoax" for me. It just can't keep me playing, like the previous ones did. Is it the terrible writing? The horrible dialog system? The lack of choices, roleplaying, quest branching or skill checks? Farcry couldn't keep me playing either.

neither beats the classic gameplay and exploration. The fixed locations and the "make believe" overworld travel (plus all the random encounters being more memorable and intense).

This is an opinion I will never understand. The "exploration" and overworld travel of the old games was basically a combination of a progress bar and a random number generator. You clicked on a destination and watched a dot crawl across the map (the progress bar). Sometimes you had an encounter (the random number generator). That's it.

How people can look back at that and miss it astounds me.

So I was responding to Chilloutman's implication that having problems with a game means that person didn't like the game and/or felt cheated out of the money they paid to Bethesda by providing a counter example to that sweeping generalization in myself.

EDIT: Incorrect negative, bad sentence structure

oh please, you all have to see that there are many people playing it and complaining about it. I am pretty sure some of these doen same thing with F3 yet they still stuff them money

I'm the enemy, 'cause I like to think, I like to read. I'm into freedom of speech, and freedom of choice. I'm the kinda guy that likes to sit in a greasy spoon and wonder, "Gee, should I have the T-bone steak or the jumbo rack of barbecue ribs with the side-order of gravy fries?" I want high cholesterol! I wanna eat bacon, and butter, and buckets of cheese, okay?! I wanna smoke a Cuban cigar the size of Cincinnati in the non-smoking section! I wanna run naked through the street, with green Jell-O all over my body, reading Playboy magazine. Why? Because I suddenly may feel the need to, okay, pal? I've SEEN the future. Do you know what it is? It's a 47-year-old virgin sitting around in his beige pajamas, drinking a banana-broccoli shake, singing "I'm an Oscar Meyer Wiene"

It conveys size and scale and the unpredictability and hostility of the journey as well as varying the gameplay. It's thing to interpret rather than to be looked at purely as what's on the screen. Much in the same way how the Indiana Jones movies depict Indy's flight routes, rather than he just appearing everywhere.

That's one way of looking at it.

Greetings and salutations, I hope everyone is doing well.

When I heard the idea that Obsidian would like to do another Fallout game, it brought a smile to my face. So here are some ideas I had marinating in my noggin. I really love how Fallout 4 was improved, but also sadden that the story lacks so much.

1.       Fallout: Texas – The time line takes place 15 years after the events of New Vegas.

i.      The NCR now controls the Dam but Vegas still falls under House’s control.

ii.      The NCR expansion now controls the North West, South West, North and most of the Four States Commonwealths.

iii.      The NCR believes forced assimilation is what is best instead of trying to work with their neighbors.

iv.      As NCR pushed hard for Hoover   Dam, they are now reaching out for NORAD Command HQ.

v.      The Plains Commonwealth currently holds NORAD for the time being knowing they will be next once NORAD falls.

vi.      Mexico is having loads of problems with the raise of a new super mutant master along with the feral ghouls that is spreading a new disease. If you are bitten then later killed you will raise back up as a feral ghoul. As these problems are spreading out into Texas.

vii.      The main character starts in Texas in a mega vault which does NOT have a number, but called “Black Mountain” because of the location. In Texas there is a mountain range called Black Mountain and there is where the mega vault is built.

viii.      The mega Vault is owned by Sid Richardson III which was still alive when the bombs fell but later had his brain placed into a brain tank so he may watch over the people. Unlike the other vaults that seemed to be death traps, this one was actually built with the intent to rebuild America if the bombs fell.

ix.      Sid Richardson family line was a stable family compared to other rich families and understood how much family matters. A happy families means more people which in turns means more money is to be made.

x.      The Mega Vault is just that, a huge ass vault that houses 1000’s of people.  To build such a large vault a town was built less than a mile away so the works could live close by. The vault would have 2 standard exits, two major vehicle bays that holds not only construction but also military equipment because war never changes. Also one major hanger bay that would house heavy lifters and other helios.

xi.      Dallas and Fort Worth has been wasted with some radiation.

xii.      After several missions out onto the surface, a major quest will take the player to retake Laughlin Air base after it fights off a major infestation of raiders.

xiii.      I would love to see drivable vehicles and helios.

xiv.      I would love to see the vehicles selection expanded to included M270, A-10 warthogs or something close, Hummers, Motorcycles for normal, armored and power armor versions, M-60 tank, usable APCs from FO4 but increased in size slightly, civilian vehicles up to 1965.

xv.      Major Factions: Black Mountain, NCR, Plains Commonwealth, Texas Rangers & The Horde.

xvi.      Minor factions: BOS, House and maybe remnants.

xvii.      The story would be centered around you but you have several choices like staying with Black mountain and helping to defend and rebuild Texas. Leave and join up with the Plains Common wealth and play your life as a bounty hunter. Leave and join up with NCR and help them take NORAD and Texas.

xviii.      Keep the settlement building in but make it functional.

xix.      Lastly just maybe make it PC only because consoles limit the possible full potential. The only reason I suggest this is look at Star Citizen and there is no way something like that could ever run on current consoles.

Fallout NV was great but i hated how empty the world was. the only places i spent any time in were the Vegas strip itself and Freeside. i felt like the game wouldve actually been better if they focused SOLELY on these areas and cut the rest of the world from the game completely lol. imagine the King with 20 more quests and a full on war in the streets with the NCR 24/7. Benny and his goons actually hunting you all over Freeside whenever you took a run in his casino. small scale games with HUGE CONTENT tend to capture me alot more than huge games with thin spread content. i always consider this less-is-more ideology whenever im putting together a script or an idea for a game....because i feel this is what has been LOST in gaming in the past 15 years......but i digress.

the one thing i LOVE about the Fallout series is that the environments feel Operational. everyone has a schedule, characters work all day and then sleep at night, etc. i feel if Obsidian made a game that was less Open World and more a collection of Sandbox Environments that cohesively exist as one world, they could really focus on making each character feel like an actual human being with its own thoughts, feelings, opinions, desires, etc. imagine how insane it would be to travel to multiple environments and really have an Hour Long conversation with each character you meet.....getting to know them and what their life has been like....maybe even influencing them through conversation to take action in some way or another, or even influencing them to interact with other characters in the game in a negative or positive way....so instead of the player being the Renown Hero that everyone is programmed to praise and worship, they become the hidden cog in the system that silently makes it work through cunning conversation and properly selected dialog. Maybe the character you influenced tells another character and that opens up a whole new dialog set with that new character. Character Cohesion and Real Depth in Conversation....This is the wave of the future.

overall, another Fallout game would be fine, yeah......but why not push it to the next level and give gamers something that changes the face of ALL of gaming??? a benchmark for what games should be vs what they have been. when gamers play the next Obsidian game, they should look at old Fallout games in DISGUST like they were released on the original NES.

Bethesda should be ashamed. They had seven years to work on FO4 and Obsidian did an absolutely amazing job in far less time. What did Bethesda deliver? Radiant quests, FILLER CONTENT EVERYWHERE (Minutemen: Filler, the campaign), you have to do at least 6 filler quests for the Railroad before you get the ability to add ballistic weave to clothing (which is the only way you can look stylish and be protected at higher levels). The dialogue is a complete joke (you get 4 options all the time, no skill related options, no stat related options, and the amount of filler dialogue is just disgusting. You can say "I'm not sure" when an NPC asks you if you want a radiant quest. What the hell do you mean, you're not sure?! Either you WANT to do a menial fetch quest for me (no I won't tell you where anyway) or you DON'T!

Ehh I have so many problems with FO4, I can't believe I made myself actually finish it.

Meanwhile, I have played FONV 8 times and loved every playthrough. Obsidian is the best.

i think people missed the point of what Fallout 4 was created to be from the jump. it wasnt about the story or quests, it was about making a world thats driven and controlled by WAR and having everything in the world cater to the theme of War. the FPS controls were the most comfortable the series has seen and the ability to customize your weapons, armor and settlement gave you an advantage in war situations. i enjoyed taking a companion, roaming the streets of Boston and feeling like i was in a WORLD WAR between factions and could join in or avoid the wars all together. i enjoyed battling it out with the Brotherhood all over the map and having my companions shoot them out the sky whenever they came near my settlement. some missions, i was involved in 15 minute Warfare sessions where i really had to improvise to win.....and most locations on the map made for great battles between me and whatever enemy was present. i truly did have INCREDIBLE warfare moments with Fallout 4 that i havnt had with any other single player game EVER....so in the category of Open World War FPS, its the best one iv ever played, hands down.

missions and quests come and go.....but Warfare.....Warfare is Forever.

After playing fallout 4 heres my post opinion about the game. IT WAS RUSHED, holy ****. You can clearly tell with a lot of locations in the game world that the game was rushed. Also the world building elements are half assed, glitchy and entirely pointless. Nothing is more hilarious then one of your turrets shotting a settler and having them all turn on you. There is way too much repetitive gameplay in the dungeon crawling. All the dungeons were designed the same. One straight path from beginning to end. Sure there are different layouts but they all felt the same. Every element of the game can summed up as mediocre and I'm not surprised it didn't win game of the year.

Witcher 3 though wasn't anything special like fallout I lost interest in also. Except the witcher had slightly better story and visuals. I think the fallout franchise past its prime and now like another call of duty game. I rather see obsidian do a isometric fallout to breath some life into the series but I'm pretty sure Bethesda would not allow that and it will not sell well.

Slightly better stories? Please give me any TES or F3/4 who has a story "slightly" less good than the W3 Bloody Baron quest (one among many other great stories the game has).

And slightly better visuals? My boy, any Witcher 3 village you cross feels more alive than the entire population of Fallout 4 together, let's not even talk about the city of Novigrad.

Prove me wrong.

You may have noticed that I didn't include New Vegas, because that's Obsidian, and they deliver good stories and memorable characters, Bethesda, on the other hand...

I just discovered this forum. And by extension, this topic.

I would love to see another Fallout game made by Obsidian. But here's why:

I've played both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, in that order. The biggest differences I noticed in New Vegas compared to Fallout 3 were my choices. My decisions. My ability to roleplay a character, and have quests thought in advance based on my skills. The fact that I could do multiple quests for different factions at the same time. So many, that still to this day I'm amazed when some NPC recognizes those deeds, making me think "why did they even bother giving him this dialogue?", because that's when a real reactive world starts.

I haven't finished New Vegas yet. I'm in my fourth playthrough. I always forget to finish the game before starting a new one. I'm awaiting for the moment I will have to choose again between three factions, where none of them are really evil and none of them are really good. The kind of morality to be expected from a post-apocalyptic world, where people will murder each other for scraps of food. A game where towns and NPCs make sense. A game with good writing, where you convince the most fearsome enemy in the entire game through pure logic, and a nice throwback to real life events, instead of forcing him to selfdestruct because "he's evil and needs to stop".

Only Obsidian can give me this. No review praising Fallout 3 over Obsidian's game will ever change the fact that New Vegas was superior in almost every way, and to this day, it is still a milestone in RPG gaming. One can only imagine how would have New Vegas turned out with just a few more months of developing. A fully fleshed out Caesar's Legion. A sprawling city of New Vegas.

I'm completely against brand loyalty. But after seeing both FNV and PoE's making-of documentaries, and having playing New Vegas three times, I can't help but feel Obsidian is the company I would love to be a part of, and the company that delivers when given the right resources and the amount of time it needs.

I don't know if you guys will ever get to make a new Fallout game. Or if you are even reading this. But if you are: thank you.

I'm going to take this basket of cakes to my grandmother's house.
