Orogun01 Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 New Turn Based RPG released om GOG. Regalia: Of men and Monarchs https://www.gog.com/news/release_regalia_of_men_and_monarchs Got it, tried it and I think I won't be buying any western JRPGs for the near future. It's just a weak imitation of cultural norms made by people that don't understand them and that avoid any originality that it might have in order to be more like the Japanese cliches. All in all the same issues that these type of games run into, combat isn't as calculated and refined as JRPGS (very far from it) dialog comes off as awkward, stiff and unnatural (probly because they're trying to sound like anime dubs). Full disclosure I barely played 10 minutes into the game and I"m already dissapointed, I hope to be wrong but this seems to be more of a fan project than an actual game. I'd say the answer to that question is kind of like the answer to "who's the sucker in this poker game?"* *If you can't tell, it's you.
SonicMage117 Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 (edited) It is. And the music makes that game, which is ironic. Why? I mean... Music is just as important in gaming as it is in any other media. I've played 45 min so far and from what I can tell, the narration and voice acting is what will make it good for me. I'm okay with horror if it's done right, I loved The Evil Within and I'm getting the vibe of that from Alan Wake mixed with some Max Payne stylised drama. None of which is bad in my world. Edited May 19, 2017 by SonicMage117 Just what do you think you're doing?! You dare to come between me and my prey? Is it a habit of yours to scurry about, getting in the way and causing bother? What are you still bothering me for? I'm a Knight. I'm not interested in your childish games. I need my rest. Begone! Lest I draw my nail...

SonicMage117 Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 I love that, even if they are usually good for one playthrough. Soma was amazing to me as well, the game wasn't so much jump-scares but just that "what you don't see is scariest" type of thing. It was like a 6 hour game and $29.99 at launch, I'll probably never play it again but it was so worth it :D On the other side of the coin, I didn't like Outlast, I got it for $4.99 and refunded it. Something about the game was giving me a headache. Not sure if it was the color pallette but I never got to actually finish it, regretfully. Just what do you think you're doing?! You dare to come between me and my prey? Is it a habit of yours to scurry about, getting in the way and causing bother? What are you still bothering me for? I'm a Knight. Fenixp Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 I'm pretty sure that's the first DRM-free release of New Vegas, isn't it? ... And Fallout 3 presumably.

Zoraptor Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 I'm pretty sure that's the first DRM-free release of New Vegas, isn't it? ... And Fallout 3 presumably. Depends if you count the GFWL version for F3. It didn't require an internet connection or product key, so probably meets the technicals for being DRM free even if people hated GFWL.
ShadySands Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 Is FO:NV with DLC worth the 10 nuyen? I have the base game on Steam but I never could get into it. I think it's the Elder Scrollsness of it because I could never get into any of those games even though I've long wished that I could. Free games updated 3/4/21

I think it's worth it, but if you couldn't get into it then, I don't think the DLC will change your opinion. 2
Blodhemn Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 The best thing about the DLCs is the raised level cap, additional perks and stat increases. The stories and gameplay have some annoying design choices for the most part.
Azdeus Posted June 1, 2017 Posted June 1, 2017 And finally Fallout New Vegas is mine. 1 Civilization, in fact, grows more and more maudlin and hysterical; especially under democracy it tends to degenerate into a mere combat of crazes; the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary. - H.L. As hard as it may be to believe, there are people who enjoyed playing Fallout 3, whether modded or not. Not that I find it hard to believe, but we're not addressing my opinion of Fallout 3. There's a reason Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 4 happened, and it's not because Fallout 3 was widely perceived as a bad game, nor did it sell poorly. I'm not saying it's good because lots of people enjoyed it, just pointing out that your comment's premise is deeply flawed. A look at Metacritic might even tell you why many people like it.
