Oerwinde
I honestly don't get all the hate Aquaman gets. Sure he had a lame cartoon 40 years ago, but can we get over it already? Dude has been awesome for decades now. 1 The area between the balls and the butt is a hotbed of terrorist activity.
LadyCrimson
My objection to that image is just visual. Where's the blonde hair, at least, for one. Take away that trident and the new guy could be a grungy tattooed Viking/tribal dude or something. Just doesn't fit to me. Not that I've kept up with recent comic versions of him, although I know he's had various appearance changes I think (longer hair, different costume styles). “Things are as they are. Meshugger
What? There is an actual Aquaman?!! I always thought that it was a some sort of joke from The Simpons. Kinda like Radioactive Man, Ant Man and so on. I am really out of my element when it comes to comic books, it seems. Blarghagh
He's not even that unknown, he was one of the founding members of the Avengers team. There's actually an MCU Ant Man movie coming out in August starring Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly and Michael Douglas.
Rosbjerg
In Meshugger's defence the vast majority of pre1980 heroes are beyond ridiculous and even Simpsons, Family Guys and South Park's attempt to make fun of them didn't really work - as all those heroes could easily exist in the Marvel universe.. it's just that a select handful had pretty good reboots in the last 20-30 years that gave them some depth. Like Batman, who is of course still ridiculous, but at least Miller's 'The Dark Knight' made him psychotic enough to make some sort of sense. Some of the villains though. on topic: Watched 'Frank'.. Weird movie, liked it though. 1 Fortune favors the bald.

Not that I've kept up with recent comic versions of him, although I know he's had various appearance changes I think (longer hair, different costume styles). The weird thing is (in some versions) the fact that Aquaman is a blonde is important (as there was a prophecy involving a fair-headed child in the typically dark haired royal family). That said I don't hate it, acknowledging that the DC movies are flying far afield from fairly frontward focuses on continuity. Sorry, the aliteration got away from me. I cannot - yet I must. Blarghagh
I think it kinda makes sense that they'd slightly distance this version from comic book Aquaman. Aquaman has some cool storylines but the general public perception of Aquaman from non-comic fans is a meme, or a joke, sadly. Plus, I really like Jason Momoa so I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Meshugger
I should've known what i had gotten myself into when i asked this. Come to think of it, i have only read three comics the past 15 years: Transmetropolitan, Fear Agent and Watchmen. CoM_Solaufein
American Sniper. Saw it twice in the movie theaters which is a rare thing with me considering how much tickets cost. Great movie. It sucks that Conan tanked, because he was a great Conan. He was pretty much everyone's top choice to play Namor too, so I guess that was the inspiration for grabbing him as Aquaman. Blarghagh
Yeah he was awesome as Conan, too bad everything else in that movie was balls. Sometimes even a great lead can't save a bad movie. Especially if that great lead's shadow is still visible on the wall that they project the matte painting background on.

LadyCrimson
The Judge - 7.5/10. Has some weak points (a little too long, for one) but decent drama film. Robert Duvall still one of my absolute faves. Kill the Messenger - 6/10. Starts off well and Renner does a good job, but eventually the "maligned hero journalist vs. evil big newspapers and government conspiracy" started to enter into Oliver Stone territory or something. Which had me looking up Gary Webb on the laptop while the movie was playing...which turned out to be more interesting. ;p “Things are as they are. Bartimaeus
God help me, I watched Frozen for the first time today. Worse, I moderately liked it. Whoever's in charge of making advertisements really needs to do a better job of it - every commercial I've ever seen of it has made it look pretty unbearable. I'll never forgive Disney for this. Quote How I have existed fills me with horror. For I have failed in everything - spelling, arithmetic, riding, tennis, golf; dancing, singing, acting; wife, mistress, whore, friend. Even cooking. Blarghagh
Disney's PR section has been doing extremely bad. The same thing happened with Tangled, it was a fairly straightforward story with a bit of adventure and heart but the ads made it look like just another lame CG fairytale parody like the Shrek sequels. Frozen's pretty good, though. Not so good to deserve the rabid fanbase it has but it's pretty good - I like how it subverts a lot of the traditional Disney movie tropes. Check out Big Hero 6, it's also quite good. Disney's CG department has been doing really well, in fact. Wreck-it Ralph was also good.
Bartimaeus
I've been out of the loop for a while. Haven't seen any of those (and probably more). Life happens. I agree with you in regards to it not really deserving the rabid fanbase. Though I liked the film well enough, it really felt like it needed to be longer and more fleshed out. I realize the movie was (probably?) primarily aimed at children, but characters seriously felt like they were undergoing major character revisions every fifteen minutes...without the movie actually showing them undergo those character revisions, or why they were doing so in a plausible manner. Also, this may sound stupid, but it kind of bugged me how...um...I guess...OP Elsa was. We go from her being able to do mostly minor tricks, some moderately powerful passive freezing...to a nuclear winter and constructing castles. A little sense of progression for her powers wouldn't have hurt. And...it kind of bugged me that everyone somehow knew to go to that one mountain. Did I miss something? How did a complete shut-in like Elsa know that having her ice fortress there would be the perfect fit, how did Anna know she was going there, and how did Hans know she was going there...and all of them doing this independently of each other? Overall, still a good watch. Just not...the ridiculous perfection that most everyone seems to have hyped it up to be (and thankfully, not garbage like all the commercials showed).
