especially hungary was a beast back in the days. their golden era in the 1950s was almost unbeatable.

It would be fun if the Germans somehow lost in the finals after this match.

 

I think Germany-Algeria was the most entertaining match to watch (it really felt like the Algerians were fighting tooth and nail to win), although I must say I missed most of the games before the elimination rounds.

Klose got his record by scoring a million times against Saudi Arabia. Kind of lame. I don't think Brazil ever played against such crap countries on a WC.

Brazil only barely deserved to be in the semis in the first place, and are justifiably out. I'm more impressed by how good the Germans were, though - on most other days you would dominate a game like that but only be 1 or 2 goals up. They were able to kill the game in 6 minutes. I called them to win the Cup before the tournament and it looks like they'll now have a good bout of confidence for it.

Australia, Japan, Costa Rica, Scotland, and Norway are not even close to being as bad as Saudi Arabia.

 

I'm going to miss Mark Van Bommel tomorrow, the oranje are just not the same without him.

New Zealand and China certainly are, and on the whole there's no taking away from Klose's remarkable record, even if I never rated him too much for the fact that he was rarely that lethal for club football. 

What's funny is that Brazil won by a mere 2-1 vs North Korea, who then went on to lose 7-0 against Portugal.

 

NZ and China didn't perform that badly at WC either.

Finally got around to watching the match.

Totally worth the effort.

 

Poor Brazilians. They really expected to win it with such a mediocre at best team.

Apparently hundreds of Brazilians were waiting for the German players when they arrived at the hotel. To applaud and sing for them, in recognition of their awesome display.

 

Very sporting from the Brazilians, my hat off to them.
