meh, piracy... piracy never changes. I don't consider anything related to it news anymore

That looks and sounds really interesting.  It will be interesting just how far the game will let you "break" it.

Yorua ssessment is silly. The vast majority of movies, tvs, books, etc. all involve people I have little in common with except being human.

To Kill A Mockingbird is a fantastic films whose characters - even the bad ones - are very well done - yet by your silliness I cna't relate to them since I've never lived in the south US and enver dealt with racism in that matter.

Also, while characters may be gay in BIO games they really aren't defined by their 'gayness'. Anders is defined by his desire for freedom from the Chantry not that he loves penises. Geez.

My last three computers put together didn't cost that much! I shudder to imagine how much a system capable of fully utilizing it would cost.

Too early to tell if Facebook buying Oculus Rift is good or bad.

I don't think there is a single scenario where you would need that much memory, except in a professional environment where you need it for rendering for which you would go with the quadro cards. This is literately only for bragging rights.

Bragging rights and especially overcompensation for losing the console supply bid and desktop GPU price-to-performance battle both in the same year, seems like.

All Stop. On Screen.

Hell, I'm rocking a 2GB 7850, and I'm all "yeah, it' crisper, but other than that, it's no better than my 6800".

Like Sarex, I can't imagine a single scenario where this card would be the ideal choice.

I imagine Nvidia figures there are people stupid and/or snobbish enough to buy the card.  They're probably correct.

I was at MAGFest five years ago. In the LAN Room, some dude was rocking a 30-inch monitor with four top-of-the-line GFX cards inside.

When was the last time you could honestly say, that Facebook buying something, was good news? :p

That said, it's still somewhat of a misleading figure - with multi-GPU setups, the frame buffer has to be duplicated for each GPU. 2x 6GB cards isn't a 12GB card, and that same logic applies here: you still only have 6GB effective memory to play with. Now, is 6GB overkill? Arguably yes, but on the other hand, real gains have been shown for AMD's 4GB rival compared to nV's 3GB versions, and due to the 384-bit memory bus, it locks* them into either doing either 3GB or 6GB - so the latter is the correct choice for a performance oriented product.

* Not strictly true, but it's suboptimal to run a mix-and-match combination to get an in-between figure.

Well, while I'm not thrilled about the Facebook buyout of Oculus, I'm not flipping out about it either.  I am, however, enjoying other people losing their **** over this.  Highly entertaining.

I don't really care about fb buying Oculus. They won't say "No! From now on you will only make it work for Farmville and nothing else!" ... So what's the big deal? In worst case, Oculus will have more money to spend, which can only be a good thing.

"only when you no-life you can exist forever, because what does not live cannot die."

The only change is that it will now have a Google-esque spy camera built into it, the only difference being that Facebook won't tell you it's there.

But why / what for? Should FB record what games I play in VR and how long?

What I read in the internet right now, it looks like people think you will now need to login on FB everytime you want to use the VR glasses, which I doubt will happen.

Um, it was a post made in jest, I know nothing about Oculus Rift bar that they're some VR thing, and not much about Facebook other than the usual repertoire of privacy jokes. But presumably the goal is twofold, to, a) show you advertisements, and b) show you to advertisers.

people saying VR in the form of OR is the future of gaming are delusional. OR is overrated. and FB bought OR for their Metaverse-something technology

also, Ron Gilbert, "Oculus was wise to sell. People look like idiots wearing one, there is no way it's going to be successful in a mass way. Sorry. Hate on me."

yeah, hate on us both :p
