What's on the idiot box... Part 2

Ok I've watched several episodes of Intelligence. The leads are fine, but overall the show kinda has that irritating habit of the CSI trend  - all tech flash and little substance. It's all about the guy's flashy memory-GUI/inner 3D recreation bits, which starts to feel too gimmicky. Probably won't watch anymore.

Yeah me too, it was nicely plotted, tied in with the MCU, 'introduced' a comic book character, had recurring non-main characters making it feel more connected, developed some characters and surprised me a couple of times. I think I've sortof made my peace with this show being more "Chuck" in style than it is "The Avengers" despite being interconnected, now that I've done that I enjoy it for the cheesy entertainment it is.

I am watching the latest season of Justified and I have to say its now been elevated to my number 1 TV series. Honestly if you haven't watched this series you have to see it, you can thank me later :dancing:

For some reason whenever I see how the people in Kentucky live I always think of GD...I'm don't know why

They've introduced at least 4 comic book characters that I know of (Franklin "Graviton" Hall, Donnie "Blizzard" Gill, SHIELD Agent Victoria Hand and now a version of Deathlok) in the series.

I enjoyed this episode, but then I've enjoyed the series general - with some quibbles - so far.

I didn't say they didn't introduce comic book characters before. Due to Quinn's involvement, I was actually expecting Gravitron to be in that hyperbaric chamber instead of Deathlok.

EDIT: Yes, within alloted edit time! Personally, I'm thinking the Gail Simone//UDON variant of Taskmaster would fit in this show extremely well. Someone send Joss Whedon a memo!

Ah I mis-read your sentence.

And yeah Taskmaster would work in this show.

They should put in Misty Knight.

I imagine Misty Knight and Colleen Wing would be more likely to be supporting characters in the Netflix Daredevil/Jessica Jones/Iron Fist/Luke Cage/The Defenders series.

I would love to see Taskmaster pop up somewhere. Could work as a rogue SHIELD agent.

I don't know if this will work well, IMO Preacher would work better on a premium network so they could get away with more stuff.

"Tulip O'Hare, Jesse's beer guzzling vampire ex-girlfriend..."

And this show is a non-starter. You can't combine Tulip and Cassidy, not when their interactions are so important to the story.

Artistic license? Someone like me who doesn't know the original story wouldn't know any different so it could still be excellent

I think that's a mistake. Because on the below link, it says:

http://www.slashfilm.com/preacher-development-confirmed-seth-rogen-and-evan-goldberg-scripting-pilot/

First, a Preacher primer in the form of AMC’s official description of the show:

Preacher follows Reverend Jesse Custer, a tough Texas preacher who has lost his faith, has learned that God has left Heaven and abandoned His responsibilities. He finds himself the only person capable of tracking God down, demanding answers, and making Him answer for His dereliction of duty. Accompanying Jesse on his journey is his former girlfriend and a friendly vampire who seems to prefer a pint in the pub to the blood of the innocent. On his tail is one of the most iconic bad guys in print – an immortal, unstoppable killing machine named the Saint of Killers – a western lone gunman archetype whose sole purpose is to hunt and kill Jesse

So it looks like Tulip and Cassidy are both in.

Its like adapting Spider-Man and merging Mary Jane and Harry Osbourne into a single character.

Oh well if that's the case that wouldn't quite work ;(

Homeland - end of 3rd season.

:verymad: :verymad: Well...that's it for me re: that show. No reason to watch anymore. Not that what happened maybe wasn't needed/necessary, but nothing about the show has shown me that my interest would survive beyond that they did at end of Ssn. 3.

If Preacher is anything like AMC did to The Walking Dead, then they should stop now. How you could take good characters like Andrea from the comic and turn her into one of the most hated on the show takes a lot of talent. There was a lot of missed opportunities with TWD and no need to change the story so much from the comic.

Seth Rogen

Preacher

Cue Seth Rogen casting himself as the Saint of Killers.

AMC

Cue the Sheriff not literally ****ing himself in the ass.

And no Herr Starr's faucet-****.

Yes, those are my greatest concerns, that antagonists' phalli remain intact for the duration.

"Tulip O'Hare, Jesse's beer guzzling vampire ex-girlfriend..."

I just threw up in my mouth a little. This is more nauseating than even the most grotesque scenes of sexual violence in Preacher.

He could cast himself as Cassidy's serial killer friend or one of the coke snorting casino angels and I would be ok with that, but yeah...

Caught first episode of Black Sails, I thought it would be a series rooted in history in the line of Vikings, but it turned out a more gritty version of Treasure island/Pirates of the Carribean.

Will continue watching for more female pirate action.

The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.

Tried to watch the first episode of Bates Motel. Seemed like it might be all right...I wasn't disliking it or anything. But couldn't focus on it so I turned it off for the moment. The woman playing the mother seems pretty good...the guy playing Norman felt a touch too twitchy, but otoh, appropriately weird and wimpy? wussy? repressed mamma's boy?
