Based on listening to some British speak, the alternative should be coherent.

Why has elegance found so little following? Elegance has the disadvantage that hard work is needed to achieve it and a good education to appreciate it. - Edsger Wybe Dijkstra

Can't get the link to work embedded, but I assure you this is one of the funniest things I've seen in ages. Mainly because it's pretty much what I'm like after a couple of brandies.

From Series three of the Fast Show, it's a re-watch for me after many years.

If the link isn't working properly, go to 23 minutes, 15 seconds.

EDIT: ref the post by Azdeus, hopefully this one will be funny even if you aren't a native English speaker.

I've been going through my ultimate fast show box again whenever I have some downtime, 'tis sheer brilliance.

You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that?

If it's the "ultimate" box, it doesn't come with the spinoffs, though it was supposed to, when I got it. Still don't have any of them, need to get it sorted (gripped! we're offroaders!).

Hey, to be fair, I wear my glasses in the shower. Otherwise I wouldn't be able to tell what's showergell, what's shampoo and what's something else..

Can't you see better when you're NOT wearing fogged up wet glasses?

Seriously, no. If I'm not wearing my glasses and you're more then about a foot and a half away from me, I wouldn't be able to recognise you. You'd basically be a [insert appropriate skin colour] blobby head on a body. Dealing with somewhat steamed up glasses and scatter of water across them is something a lot easier to deal with then complete lack of sight.

Something odd I've noticed today when I came back home for a bit of vacation between my Summer and Fall quarters of school.

The local El Pollo Loco at a strip mall was closed down to be replaced by a Starbucks. Thing was, there was already another Starbucks in the strip mall across the street, which was no more than a 2 minute walk away. And my town is a relatively podunk town to begin with.

I've frequently used hyperbole to describe the ubiquity of the damned things, now life begins to imitate art.

Quote
“Political philosophers have often pointed out that in wartime, the citizen, the male citizen at least, loses one of his most basic rights, his right to life; and this has been true ever since the French Revolution and the invention of conscription, now an almost universally accepted principle. But these same philosophers have rarely noted that the citizen in question simultaneously loses another right, one just as basic and perhaps even more vital for his conception of himself as a civilized human being: the right not to kill.”

-Jonathan Littell <<Les Bienveillantes>>
Quote

"The chancellor, the late chancellor, was only partly correct. He was obsolete. But so is the State, the entity he worshipped. Any state, entity, or ideology becomes obsolete when it stockpiles the wrong weapons: when it captures territories, but not minds; when it enslaves millions, but convinces nobody. When it is naked, yet puts on armor and calls it faith, while in the Eyes of God it has no faith at all. Any state, any entity, any ideology that fails to recognize the worth, the dignity, the rights of Man...that state is obsolete."

Do you ever refuse to take of your glasses when having sex so you avoid the feeling you're ****ing an expressionist painting?
