Fire Emblem: Awakening is fantastic.  You're in for a treat, Labadal.

It is very good, but not as good as PoR. I have to fault FEA for some pretty big balance issues(counter and galeforce).

So far I have really been into the Tales franchise, because they have been consistently great games. Lunar Silver Star Harmony is great (too bad they got rid of the "over world" in the remake) Popolo Crois is pretty good, it kinda plays like Chrono Trigger and a tactics game. xenoblade is alright for what it is, the same goes for xenosaga. FFIX has hit a soft spot for me as well, it's probably the most Final Fantasy-esque game a Final Fantasy game can get. Star Ocean is ok... it always feels like it's trying too hard to be like Tales. the first and second games especially taking A LOT of cues from Tales of Phantasia, of which I feel took a lot of story cues from Chrono Trigger. The Yakuza games are pretty different by combining the brawler type gameplay from the likes of Streets of Rage, some RPG elements, all set in the red light district of Tokyo. If you like Sleeping Dogs, Shenmue, or Metal Gear Solid (you will know what I mean should you decide to play the game) I think you may have a soft spot for Yakuza. I think Eternal Sonata is a solid JRPG, it can feel more like a history lesson at times because in between each game chapter you get a history lesson on the life of Fredric Chopin, who served as inspiration for the game.

The games I cen think of.

Final Fantasy XIII: Lightning Returns (not interested)

Tales of Xillia (hope to get it in the mail any day now)

Tales of Symphonia Unisont Pack or whatever it's called (will buy)

Tales of Xillia 2 (will buy)

Other than that, the 3DS is getting a lot of love.

Well, not the typical JRPG, going to give Dragon's crown a whirl.  More of a side scroller, but I hear it has some RPG elements, ala the D&D side scrolling games they had in the late 90s or early 00s (can't ever recall exactly when those were released).  Actually I hear they are weightier in the RPG elements that that, more a Diablo lite style.

Its got skills and skill advancement when you level up and a diablo-esque loot system combined with a side scrolling beat 'em up gameplay.

I'm enjoying it pretty well.

Haven't played JRPGs in so long.

I can't seem to take them seriously if they have that anime art style. I feel shallow and sad. I'm sure I'm missing out. Though one of my favorite rpgs to this day is FF6. I still play it from time to time.

Hmmmn, don't know how I feel about that.

Japanese SEGA games which have been localized and released in the west are actually not bad... Think Yakuza, Binary Domain, Resonance of Fate, etc etc...

They still need to better manage their western developed releases though... Colonial Marines speak enough for all these games...

The only problem I see now, is that it is possible that even less japanese games will be localized after this buyout :( Which would be big shame and disappointment, if that will be the case...

I wouldn't be surprise especially since there is a small market for japanese game on the west and japanese developers seem completely unaware of pc as a platform.

I'd say the answer to that question is kind of like the answer to "who's the sucker in this poker game?"*

Looks like not yet

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/126587-Report-Sega-Interested-in-Buying-Atlus

Newest news are from 5th August

20 buyers interested. 203 million USD highest bid.

I was very satisfied with all japanese games published by SEGA last few years. I do not care about multiplatform western developed shiets like Colonial Marines, so for me, SEGA would be among the best possible buyers of Atlus.

Maybe Atlus guys would then finally localize Yakuza 1-2 HD and Yakuza 5 for the west.

Wait SEGA buying Atlus is a done deal? I hope not.

Besides their refusal to release some Japanese games in other countries, I think Sega is one of the best 3rd party developers out there.  Not to mention Sega cares a lot about the PC community, so we could actually see more Atlus games on the PC.

If they buy Atlus, then Atlus USA could translate some of Sega's Japanese games (while I think Atlus USA is it own company, they are still a sister company to the Japanese Atlus).

I like Sega games. If we speak of this generation only, Valkyria Chronicles and Yakuza 3 & 4 were great. I have Binary Domain in my backlog, demo was great. I'm just not sure about them localizing all the interesting games. Yakuza 5 and Valkyria Chronicles 3, not to mention Yakuza: Kenzan got no localizations. They've also had to cut down and close down studios. Ideally, they'd buy Atlus and localize most of their games, but this is Sega, which means nothing can be predicted.

My biggest issue with Sega is they don't seem to know how to manage their own IPs (Shining series, Sonic, Phantasy Star); I'm worried that they could be very negative to Atlus' IPs (Megaten & Persona particularly)
