Malcador Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Need to find a nice way to walk a decent distance home each day. Sure won't be nice in this heat, although I guess I could slow down a bit and do it that way. Right now it's 4 miles from my house to work, thinking that'd be too much for me right now, heh. Summer's awful here, nice mix of heat, humidity and pollution (and a pervasive odour too..). Why has elegance found so little following? Elegance has the disadvantage that hard work is needed to achieve it and a good education to appreciate it. - Edsger Wybe Dijkstra
Hurlshort Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 That really doesn't look that bad mrkreku. You should be fine to run on it.
Nightshape Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 That's going to have to come off. Immediately. Get out your saw and strongest liquor. Trust me on this. I'm from the internet. mkreku Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 That really doesn't look that bad mrkreku. You should be fine to run on it. It was fine. Unfortunately, I've been using my foot as an excuse to not go out running for the last.. 9 weeks. My legs felt like spaghetti after the race and my time was lousy. On Friday I will start my new training regime!! Swedes, go to: Spel2, for the latest game reviews in swedish!

Blarghagh Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Reported my bike being stolen to the local police, ran every anti-virus/malware thing I know of to try and see why my e-mail account is being spoofed. Not a very good day for me so far.

Walsingham Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Decided I'm going to do everything in my power to study abroad for a semester of my Junior year of University. Definitely want to go to England. Considering London or Manchester at the moment. How badly will I be hated for being American? Not a lot I would imagine. But everyone knows English people smell, are hairy, have bad teeth, are pale, fat and receding. Compared to a handsome young foreigner like you, I "It wasn't lies. Nepenthe Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 The second and third scenes describe my day more than any words will The first one doesn't, since I've already decided to cut my losses and exit as fast as I can as soon as my dissertation is done. Which, considering I haven't done anything in two weeks, isn't getting any closer. Sigh. You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that? Reapercussions
Raithe Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Enjoyed two days of train travel.. got home with a nice splurge of headache kicking in. So that called for a fresh cup of tea, some digestives and a paracetamol. Pondering on going with the flat, round things for dinner tonight (otherwise known as Pizza). Hm, and now I've got what's basically a research paper to write over the next couple of weeks concerning the death of Pablo Escobar and the US State Departments reaction to it. But before I start "proper" research into it... Anyone here work for the State Department? Or a Columbian Drug Cartel? "Cuius testiculos habeas, habeas cardia et cerebellum."
Walsingham Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 I have a relative who is seeking funding for a PhD on the reproductive habits of a specific small amphibian. He is perplexed by a lack of funding. Too many people want to do pointless PhDs. Although IMO this is as much the fault of the scientific community as a whole. Walsingham Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 I just did 30 ascents of hillstamping. Not feeling too hot. Did half of them at jogging speed. Think main problem was had only eaten banana all day. Bought bread and eggs and coke on the way home. Feeling a bit better for the coke. In future will definitely eat first. Pretty impressed that I stuck it out though. Fingers crossed I keep improving! Not a very good day for me so far. Bummer about the bike TN, hopefully they can find it. Thanks Hurl. I doubt it though, bikes get stolen a lot around here. Weird thing is, I wasn't too bummed about it at first, but then when I was walking home I found the little plastic doodad that I had attached to my bike lying on the side of the road, and that just pissed me off to no end. I don't run the habit of ranking bad things, they're just... bad. Both were firsts for me, and I'm usually so careful. I shouldn't have stalled my bike at the train station, I always hear about bikes getting stolen there, and I think I've been swapping too many USB sticks and that got a 'creepycrawly' onto my computer. I feel a lot better now, those events couldn't keep my spirit down for long.

LadyCrimson Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 I think I shall start wearing thigh-high, thick leather boots whenever I go hiking anywhere that might possibly have snakes. Tired of cloudy skies. Go away. Power company finally came and chopped away the limbs of the tall tree that were starting to seriously hang over the power lines. A small limb must have pressed into/grown into one of the cables/wires or something, because there's now a large chunk of wood just "floating" 40ft in the air. They left it on the wire rather than try to pull it off I guess. It's kind of odd. Hubs rolled his eyes and said "they're the tree people. Now they'll send the wire people to deal with that, I bet." I hope so, because I picture the chunk falling during a windstorm, crashing through a window and killing someone. Hopefully not me. Ok, it's not likely at all, but still...it's disconcerting to look out kitchen window every day and see it. “Things are as they are. Raithe Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Hm, two days away from the pc.. I got home , found an nvidia driver update that needed installing.. and then noticed that my C drive was showing 205Gigs free space... When before I left on my travels it had been around 111 Gigs of free space... and I can't find a bleeding thing thats missing from it at the moment.. It's making me a little bit paranoid.... Still, the weather is pleasant so I shall see what the day brings.. "Cuius testiculos habeas, habeas cardia et cerebellum."
Enoch Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 I discovered to my shock and disappointment last night that 4 of the 6 members of the PnP gaming group I play with have never played Planescape: Torment. I have begun spamming the associated facebook group with links and testimonials.
Nepenthe Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Was out with a couple of school friends last night, sipped a bunch of nice single malts. Woke up feeling ok in the morning, discovered PSNstore was up, so grabbed the Naked City case I had the code for. (Was really good, and tied quite well into the story, so sucked not having it for the inital playthrough). Realised that the Rock Star Pass isn't up yet, so couldn't grab the other case, and as neither was the new DA2 patch, decided to go to work instead (national holiday). Now I'm sitting at the office, and got just hit by an epic delayed hang over. ****. You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that? Reapercussions
Malcador Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Second last day of being temporary manager, sure has been nice. Fighting the temptation to undo the change to our wiki that the super keen coworker did (apparently adding 20 and 18 is too much work to do in his head). Brilliant weather today, so going to be exciting and walk 3 miles home, woo. Why has elegance found so little following? Deraldin Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 (edited) I kinda wish I got my M.ASc Then I could run faster. City workers are taking their sweet time with our driveway as usual. We had a water pipe crack under our driveway twice in three months, thankfully both times it was on the city side so the repairs haven't cost us anything, but it's taking forever for them to fix the driveway. First time around they had to remove half our driveway, so they repaved the half they dug up rather than doing the whole thing and billing us for our portion like we asked them to. Second time around they dug up about a quarter of the driveway and an equal chunk of lawn. That was around the new year so they did a half assed job of filling in the hole. They just got around yesterday to dig a ditch for the curb in front of the driveway and the one side of the lawn so we have to park on the street. Today they came around to create a wooden form where the new curb will go, but they haven't done anything with it yet. Wonder what they'll do next. Edited June 2, 2011 by Deraldin
