LadyCrimson
I like Amnesia so far. It's not as shock-scary as System Shock2 was (yet), but it definitely gives you that tension filled sense of dread as you're stomping along through dark hallways and rooms. I'd say "sneaking" along, but Daniel's footsteps are so loud I'm not sure you could call it sneaking. The use of darkness and light (candles, your oil lamp) is a much better example of such than the flashlight in Doom3. Much much better. “Things are as they are. Rosbjerg
can't decide if its something wrong with me, or that there are just no recent releases worth playing for more than a few minutes Take a long break - you've probably played too much the months prior? or you have some other priorities that are taking up your mind. Gaming is about having fun, if you aren't then don't play. Fortune favors the bald.

Gaming is about having fun, if you aren't then don't play. This is a very good suggestion, but maybe some people get their jollies from bitching about the games instead of playing them? Seems that way, for sure... You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that? Reapercussions
Malcador
Nah don't do that. Some people flounce when you do that. Should get another adventure game, maybe I'll give Gray Matter a try. While I search for that, busying myself with some Caesar IV. Edited May 9, 2011 by Malcador Why has elegance found so little following? Oner
Dear Riot: Thanks for finally giving me a squishy ranged carry that's actually worth using. Suddenly my stats are a lot better. LadyCrimson
I'm having a difficult time feeling like I'm really doing anything in Amnesia. It's a tense/suspenseful march around, looking for keys or whatnot, but actual motivation to keep on progressing is a little light, for me. The scripted flashbacks & such are a bit immersion breaking too. But I'm still enjoying it for the "scares" and fun of wondering what's around the corner. “Things are as they are. Tale
Anyone here play the new release of Hydrophobia? Reception seems mixed, from very bad to surprisingly good for its price. HoonDing
I picked up the First Templar in the weekend. It's a fun little game so far. Templars almost always get the short end of the stick in practically every media, it's a brilliant idea to turn the tables for once. The ending of the words is ALMSIVI. I watched a gameplay video and it seemed already dated before release. Don't really mind graphics being dated, but the camera really sucked and the gameplay looked pretty.. boring and dull? Glad to know you're enjoying it, though.

Templars are like Nazis. Easy bad guys to use. Potential zeolotry + conspiracy overtones = instant bad guy. We just haven't seen Zombie Templars yet... Glad to know you're enjoying it, though. I'm pleasantly surprised, actually. The game must be a blast to play in co-op, which it is meant to, yet single-player is pretty fun as well. There's only two characters to manage, so unlike Demon Stone, it is still manageable. The game also has excellent art design and great level design... this game has the best use of trap levels since Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. So it's certainly not all hack 'n slash, there are even some stealth parts. Even the voice-over is pretty good, at least on par with the Witcher (one of the characters even sounds eerily familiar to Geralt). Then again, I'm a sucker for (quirky) Eastern European developed games, so I may be a tad biased. The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.
Hell Kitty
Finishing up my playthrough of ME2, then I'll start on The Witcher. Next week I'll have The Witcher 2 and L.A. Noire. Preordered the PS3 version of L.A. Noire on account of the fact it's only on one disc.
Nepenthe
PS3 for LA Noire here, as well. It's also supposed to have one extra case (probably due to originally having been a PS3 exclusive game... which is another reason why it might be one of the 1-2 multiplatform titles that are actually better on ps3). Of course, I'm sure that PSN being out is going to f it up somehow... You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that? Tale
I was going to order it for 360, because it just reminds me so much of RDR. But if it has an extra case... Time to see if I can still get release day shipping. Edit: I can. PS3 ordered, 360 cancelled. Edited May 11, 2011 by Tale "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater." Raithe
Hm.. yeah.. for just Red Dead Redemption and LA Noire.. it's still not worthwhile picking up a console. "Cuius testiculos habeas, habeas cardia et cerebellum."
entrerix
i have to be one of the few people who think la noire looks mediocre/bad. i LOVE film noir, and this game just doesn't strike me the way red dead did (with respect to my love of sergio leone). hopefully im wrong though and the game is amaaaazing. Killing is kind of like playin' a basketball game. I am there. and the other player is there. and it's just the two of us. and I put the other player's body in my van. and I am the winner. - Nice Pete. Deraldin
New BGTutu+BG2 run after I had to abort the last one due to BG Trilogy introducing huge lag. Made a Fighter/Druid shadowkeep'd to the Avenger kit, the usual assortment of mods centred around SCS AI/encounter upgrades, also modded NPCs' kits & proficiencies to mix it up a bit. 1. What mods are you using for BG1? Last time I went through it (first full completion woo!) I think the extent of my mod usage was a banter pack and widescreen patch. 2. I hate you. I've tried to avoid it for the past couple weeks since you mentioned going through with SCS, but dammit, it's still installed and it'll keep gnawing away at me until I give it a proper play through. GhostofAnakin
While I wait for Dungeon Siege III to be released, I decided to give the Fable series a go. Fable 2 is dirt cheap right now, so I picked it up (not going back to original Fable for the XBox), and I have to say I feel kind of dirty. It's like I'm playing a kid's game. I didn't think the characters would be *this* kid-oriented. While some of the themes are mature (so to speak) like marriage, sex, and what not, the characters and the overall story seem like something out of a young adults novel. It's not bad for what it is, and I'll likely finish it since there's nothing else for me to play right now, but why the heck did it get such rave reviews? Fable 2 is a great entry level game, a game for none gamers... In that respect its genius, but is it stupid... Hell yeah, but it does seem to appeal to some women that I've met who wouldn't think themselves gamers. The first dungeon siege is another example of what I like to refer to as an "entry" level game. I came up with Crate 3.0 technology. Crate 4.0 - we shall just have to wait and see.Down and out on the Solomani RimNow the Spinward Marches don't look so GRIM! You can also chop people's heads off in Fable, among other things if you make your character evil. A lot of games do that and it can be irritating. They can't seem to decide what age group they are aiming at and end up with dialogue that sounds like its from a kid's Saturday morning cartoon but Ultra Violence. Or some other odd combination of mature rating content and kid's stuff.
Nepenthe
Hm.. yeah.. for just Red Dead Redemption and LA Noire.. it's still not worthwhile picking up a console. Well, I still own only three games for the x360, and I've found it to be very worthwhile. PS3, bless Sony's security deficient souls, originally came into the house as a blu-ray player, the gaming has mostly been a bonus... You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that? Hell Kitty
I bought a PS3 just for MGS4. Owning a blu-ray player and a handful of other games is just a bonus. I also bought a Gamecube just for the Resident Evil series, but that system cost me only a little more than the games.
