Oh shut up you silly little fool. You can sit in your armchair all you want ranting about how sage you are and how everything is going wrong, but meanwhile actual history is unfolding before you and will inevitably do far more to show you up than my words can.
Hurr durr! Too many big words and subordinate sentences tax your already markedly limited wits overmuch, so you'll once again just settle for telling us how wonderful the Kool-Aid is, huh?

Well, I'd never have seen that coming!

Realpolitik, Old Chap. I can't believe anybody can get so hot under the collar about it. Metternich would have approved of the UN for it's opacity and hopelessness in the face of reality.

Metternich is an odd chap to refer to, Machiavelli would fit a whole lot better as he almost certainly would approve.

Actually he most likely would not.

From what we know of the man the prince was written to be an exercise in trolling the common people and a poison chalice to any ruler taking it seriously.

As irony would have it Machiavelli was not a Machiavellian.

The rebels in Libya are in the middle of a life or death civil war and Moammar Gadhafi is still in power and yet somehow the Libyan rebels have had enough time to establish a new Central Bank of Libya and form a new national oil company. Perhaps when this conflict is over those rebels can become time management consultants. They sure do get a lot done. What a skilled bunch of rebels - they can fight a war during the day and draw up a new central bank and a new national oil company at night without any outside help whatsoever.

Most people don't realize that the previous Central Bank of Libya was 100% state owned. The following is an excerpt from Wikipedia's article on the former Central Bank of Libya....

The Central Bank of Libya (CBL) is 100% state owned and represents the monetary authority in The Great Socialist People

Since Obyknven is clearly Lord of Flies' alt is it any wonder that he struggles to handle the concept that anyone other than the proletariat might revolt?

BTW, they ARE having outside help. I already posted that Qatar has agreed to act as their broker.

You keep saying this is Realpolitik but it's actually closer to Weltpolitik. Only it has a really cheap and amateurish feel about it.

Further, we know that Western spec ops forces are already operating on Libyan soil and it wouldn't be much of a stretch to assume that the rebels are also getting any kind of advice they may require, be it legal, financial or technical.

Oh, ho! And it turns out the US had contingencies in place for the eventuality that oil assets changed hands, and so sanctions no longer apply!

By 'western spec ops are operating' I assume you mean 'getting arrested'.

I like it when anti war people talk about peace and the poor people when they talk about allowing people like Ghadffi remain in power when he's about anything about peace - espciially when it comes to his own people. these are the type of people who won't intervere witha rape or murder they see because the victim and perpetator are from a 'different neighbourhood' or 'city' OR 'family'. LMAO

The same kind of people who would allow a parent to abuse their child because it's 'none of their business'. L0LZ

But back in reality what we are talking about is not a lone victim being attacked unprovoked but instead an uprising of armed people trying to overthrow their government for and realizing they bit off more than they can chew. As soon as they start getting their asses kicked they cry for help from the rest of the world. Not our problem.

Again, in YOUR OWN DAMN ARTICLES it says that the nationalisation threat was a cynical negotiation tactic.

State bureaucrats, however, rejected the idea because they feared for the loess of their cushy jobs and also feared the wrath of transnational oil corporations and the banks that own them.

So you don't deny that it makes no sense. yOu merely have some comments from Ghaddafi which suggest he supported the idea?

I suppose you're still ignoring your earlier post which analysed the statements by Ghaddafi as a cynical bargaining ploy? Do i really have to look them up or do you have an answer for that too?

Henry Kissinger said it already some 40 years ago: "Power is the ultimate aphrodisiac." Of course the best way to dwell in power is to play some a game of Realpolitik.

Let me make this clear: None of the leaders who support Gadaffi nor those who is against him cares about the wellbeing of the citizens in Libya. Humanitarian organizations do however, like doctors without borders or amnesty. But who cares about them? What divisions do they have? What strategic element do they bring to the geopolitic area? None! i tell you. None.
