kramz Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 (edited) Has anyone gotten to run the patched game on WinXP Pro, 32-bit? I am eager to start playing the game for the first time, but hesitant to install the patch due to the problems I hear about. I have a UK version of the game if that matters. Hassat Hunter Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 That would be my setup and I get the same result as everyone else. APGame.exe has stopped working. Although I could revert to my old .exe without any issues, all savegames intact and the menu sounds as they should be. Seriously, though, SEGA dissalowed OE to work on several patches for one mega-patch... and... THIS is it? Are you kidding me? This is even worse than 1.0b for KOTOR2, and that was a ****ing disgrace. ^ I agree that that is such a stupid idiotic pathetic garbage hateful retarded scumbag evil satanic nazi like term ever created. At least top 5. TSLRCM Official Forum || TSLRCM Moddb || My other KOTOR2 mods || TSLRCM (English version) on Steam || [M4-78EP on Steam Formerly known as BattleWookiee/BattleCookiee

Flouride Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 What? Link please. Source prolly was Gamebanshee interview with Feargus at E3. Cba to look for the link though Hate the living, love the dead.
Morgoth Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Good that I finished the vanilla game twice already, so I don't really care about the patch. Rain makes everything better.
kirottu Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 GB: So have you been talking with Sega about doing a patch? Is there a chance of that? Feargus: Yes. We talked with them about doing patches, and it This post is not to be enjoyed, discussed, or referenced on company time.
Starwars Posted September 15, 2010 Author Posted September 15, 2010 I also get the start-up error when trying to use the patched version. I'm using a STEAM copy bought in the EU. So yep, looks like it might be a problem for non-US users then? Listen to my home-made recordings (some original songs, some not): http://www.youtube.c...low=grid&view=0

Purkake Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Waiting for Steam to auto-patch it seems like a valid option.
cpuwhiz11 Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Do people think this will be the only patch or will there be more patches.
Oner Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Not even the first patch was released yet. /sarcasm Giveaway list: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DgyQFpOJvyNASt8A12ipyV_iwpLXg_yltGG5mffvSwo/edit?usp=sharing What is glass but tortured sand?Never forget! '12.01.13.
Hoot Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 This sucks... With the patch I can't start the game anymore... Without the patch I have to replace the apgame.exe everytime
Sannom Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 French version of AP installed in English on top of a French Windows 7 32-bits : it doesn't work, the game isn't launched at all.
Tigranes Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 OK, at least it works for about 1% of people out there, right? I suppose back up your .exe, use, and roll back if it does horrible things - yeah, it's not a patch, it's a lottery, but at least you can win if you're damn lucky. I can also confirm that the "Reload Last Checkpoint" feature is fixed; enemies always spawn correctly now. That's pretty cool, I guess if the patch works for you you're going to get a pretty nice set of technical fixes (which are always more urgent than gameplay ones). Hopefully we can narrow down the set of conditions where the patch is going to work, but somehow I don't suspect that will be the case. Let's Play: Icewind Dale Ironman (Complete) Let's Play: Icewind Dale II Ironman (Complete) Let's Play: Divinity II (Complete) Let's Play: Baldur's Gate Trilogy Ironman - BG1 (Complete) Let's Play: Baldur's Gate Trilogy Ironman - BG2 (In Progress)

Purkake Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Official patch instructions v1.2: Back up your saves, lock your doors and shutter your windows, write your will and then try the patch.
Tale Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Wait, enemy spawns on loading a save are fixed? Is this available for 360? "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."
fkldnhlsdngsfnhlsndlg Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Worked fine for me. Running US version I believe (or North American, or whatever), so it seems the problems may be limited to non-North American users.
Zack Fair Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Official patch instructions v1.2: Back up your saves, lock your doors and shutter your windows, write your will and then try the patch. This was hilarious. XD I'm installing the game now. I'm curious if it will work or not. J_C from Codexia
MysterD Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 It'd be nice if someone from Sega or Obsidian could let us know what's up w/ the patch. Let us know what versions this patch works with AND give us some Patch Notes on fixes, changes, and additions to the game. I'm hoping it'd be quite soon...
Zack Fair Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 Installed the patch, but the game does not even launch after that. Using Windows 7 64bit. The game is EU version. I don't know whose fault is this, but I'm dissapointed in Sega and Obsidian. Releasing a not working "patch" just hurts their reputation. J_C from Codexia
Zoraptor Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 The fault is Sega's, almost certainly, though there's certainly room for other parties (could be a uniloc/drm problem as it asks me for the disk which it ain't supposed to, also WUNE's grunt problem is DRM related). Sega are meant to handle patch releases and testing and it appears that the problem is specifically with its compatibility being broken rather than it being outright broken. I'm actually at the stage of wondering whether some tech guy at Sega just got sick of it and stuck an interim patch up. The weird structure, lack of publicity, lack of localisation testing and everything else about it is so far out of usual operating procedure it really looks like something odd has happened.

I agree, it's pretty strange. Why this wasn't officially announced anywhere is suspect - you'd think that a patch to fix up some of the game's issues would increase interest in the game and, if enough effort was put in, could even spur a few more sales. This sounds to me like some sort of weird unofficial effort done by one of the QA guys in his spare time.
MysterD Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 (edited) I find it strange there was NOT even a ZIP file w/ a Readme.TXT file of some kind with both the patch notes and instructions on how to install the patch. All that was given was a EXE file to replace the old one... Edited September 15, 2010 by MysterD
