I'd have preferred a Dune RPG, but this is almost as good.

The only other WOT game was a pretty decent FPS, IIRC.

The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.

I have no feelings on this one way or the other.

The only things I know about Wheel of Time are A. The series is incredibly bloated and never ends and B. The covers have a run-of-the-mill high fantasy aesthetic.

I would much rather see Aliens. But no use complaining. Hopefully they can make a game worth playing. Maybe all that bloat means that Obsidz has free reign of the setting.

I assume this is what Feargus is heading up. What a nerd.

Read Eagle is the publisher and has all the source material, while Obsidian is developing it. EA is the distributor.

Not the case. Via the link:

I would also like to make one additional clarification. We are not licensing our WOT development rights and stepping back from the process of building these video games. Quite to the contrary, Red Eagle Games will have an internal development team of its own. However, rather than staffing up a 200 person studio from scratch, we decided some time ago that for our first games it would be far more prudent to hire a small in-house team (e.g. positions such as Art Director, Game Designer, Story Writer, Software Architect, Quality Assurance Director, etc.) and rely on a third party developer to provide the majority of developers and their associated overhead and infrastructure. In this way, we will be providing technical and creative direction to our external developer.

Sounds like a mercenary gig.

^ Sounds like a nightmare arrangement. Vanity developers hire pros to Make Their Dreams Come True?

What could possibly go wrong?

I realy hope this is not the deal, else we get some retarded gangrape of the original IP with overhilarious marketing, ridiculous antisecondhand sales features and NPCs asking for your creditcard numbers selling the newest DLC with special nut armor for your hero...

Distributor, that means they handle all the Disc/case/manual production and shipping.

They can't mess with the developers.

Also, I hope we get the forums opened here, not somewhere else.

Interesting that they also mention games (plural). So is this gonna be a long-time deal, where we're gonna see a trilogy of some sort? I really hope the Obsidian devs are die-hard fans of that setting, otherwise the series may become stale.

Hey now, my mother is huge and don't you forget it. The drunk can't even get off the couch to make herself a vodka drenched sandwich. Octopus suck.

Similar arrangement as with Brutal Legend etc, I assume. And I'm assured the "artistic intent" of that game was completely intact. :nuke:

You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that?

Not sure about that, the marketing did helped DA for sure, but ME2 in it's 1st week is far behind the sales numbers of ME1 afaik... We'll see how good/bad Dante's Inferno will fare and how many DA owners actualy buy the expansion...

The only numbers I'm seeing is 200 000 units for mass effect 1 and 2 000 000 units for mass effect 2. :nuke:

So, yeah. 95,3 % of statistics is made up on the spot?

Edit: more official data. ME1 had sold ~1 million units after the first three weeks. http://nexgenwars.com/gaming-news/general/...-3-at-5-million

So... Yeah!

This is... very weird. The arrangement, that is. The exact form of arrangement is going to be crucial, because right now it sounds like Red Eagle is taking all the higher-level positions and give direction on story and overarching design policies, while Obsidian provides the infra, manpower and expertise necessary to make it happen. Not as extreme as being outsourced, but you wonder how 'Obsidian' the game will be.

Feargus seems to be going for some wacky deals for the company, from KOTOR2/NWN2 to New Vegas to this - I can't tell whether this is an effort to keep the cashflow and Slam Dunk flow going, or being innovative and accelerating company development... I guess the end result will judge.

Wheel of Time books are indeed bloated, but as far as high fantasy settings go it is thus very very well developed and has quite a bit of potential. I'm actually excited about what Obsid writers could do with quests and dialogue in this world.

I dunno man. It seems to be very heavy handed on the creative control over the game. It made it sound as though its not an Obsidian's game at all but rather as a form of outsourcing personnels that Red Eagle Games currently do not have the expertise at the present.

In short, Obsidian apparently seemed to have far fewer creative control in this Wheel of Time game than New Vegas. Hence its really hard for me to get excited at all.
