Mamoulian War Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 So i read about the game today for the first time O.o, and from what i read i got very excited, finaly a game where your actions have real consequences in-game and should have different gameplay than anything else what is released today... Will it be the new wind in the gaming industry, or will it fail like the previewer predicts... http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2010/02...ned-to-fail.ars I am willing to risk it and give the game a chance, just to show that some gamers want different stuff to play... what about you? Oner Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Negative, the whole scene felt about as natural as the Care Bears. And after hearing about the second half of the story of Indigo Prophecy, who's to say Heavy Rain's won't be just as bad? Also, if you want choices, play Alpha Protocol when it comes out. Mamoulian War Posted February 2, 2010 Author Posted February 2, 2010 Also, if you want choices, play Alpha Protocol when it comes out. Morgoth Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Also, if you want choices, play Alpha Protocol when it comes out. That depends, if it will be Steam dependant It will, because that's what Sega now is doing with every PC release. Unless you buy the console version... Anyways... For those who missed out: Official homepage http://www.heavyrainps3.com/ There's also a demo coming out Feb. 11th. First reviews are very positive. Rain makes everything better.
Guest Slinky Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 http://www.gametrailers.com/video/exclusiv...eavy-rain/61346Trailer made me cringe. Same. The facial expressions looks horrible to me. And it seems the game ain't my cup of tea anyway. Still, nice that there are still studios who aren't afraid to try something new.
Purkake Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Great, we already have two threads about Heavy Rain.
Gorgon Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 On page 1294 Anyway, ever notice how when the textures get too good the characters start to look like cadavers or those realistic sex dolls. Na na na na na na ... greg358 from Darksouls 3 PVP is a CHEATER. That is all.
Purkake Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 That's just the uncanny valley raising it's ugly head.
HoonDing Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 (edited) The question is... will there be A.I.s? Edited February 2, 2010 by virumor The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.
Purkake Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 If the story ends up like Fahrenheit's, I will be laughing for days
Mera Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 The question is... will there be A.I.s? And Zombies too? I guess I will try the demo, but man this looks even worse than Fahrenheit. http://www.jeuxvideo.com/extraits-videos-j...t-au-lit-hd.htm
Rosbjerg Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 http://www.gametrailers.com/video/exclusiv...eavy-rain/61346Trailer made me cringe. That kid was a retard.. I don't think I would like that game, but I'm very interested in this whole "interactive films" approach some developers are taking.. when the technology gets better I think it'll be a cool genre. Fortune favors the bald.
Oner Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 That's just the uncanny valley raising it's ugly head.Too many textures, not enough polygons if you ask me. Not exactly UV, just plain fugly. Calax Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 The question is... will there be A.I.s? INCORRECT! That should be "will there be Crates?"! That said, I'm gonna get lucky and have a early preview of the game next week from our sony rep. As in he'll bring in 1/2 the game and start playing through it in front of an audience. Victor of the 5 year fan fic competition! Kevin Butler will awesome your face off.

Needs more bump mapping, rite? The question is... will there be A.I.s? INCORRECT! That should be "will there be Crates?"! Having it go all pants-on-head crazy would make it extra funny with an audience. Also you people have an unhealthy fascination with creates.
HoonDing Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 At least a shower scene is already confirmed. The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.
Diogo Ribeiro Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 You press buttons. Or you don't. Some things happen. Or they don't. You click to walk over to a car, to open the door, to sit down, to close the door, to put on the safety belt. And then don't actually drive the damn thing. Well yeah, "unique" is one way to put it. Farenheint was pretty "unique", too, if you know what I mean.
Purkake Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 (edited) You just described every video game, ever. Good job! Fahrenheit wasn't "unique" because of its gameplay. Edited February 2, 2010 by Purkake
HoonDing Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 Fahrenheit was good until the word "chroma" was mentioned. The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.
Purkake Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 (edited) Argh, the madness, coming back, story incomprehensible, AI, aliens... Edited February 2, 2010 by Purkake
HoonDing Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 At least it has a beginning and an ending. Unlike Dreamfall... The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.
Purkake Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 (edited) If by end you mean that the madness finally stopped and the main menu popped up again, then yes Dreamfall's "end" was an intelligent satire of video games which usually have a proper end. It was obviously an artistic choice. Edited February 2, 2010 by Purkake
