Meh, I can have fun with it. You just have to be careful in the game. Getting a flank and mowing down 4 people is very satisfying :(

To be fair I didn't play it much online, but I can see it's appeal.

I'd just like to stop in to lol at IW. Modders have hacked in dedicated server function and lean. You know why it was so easy for them? Because the engine already had those capabilities from CoD4. MW2 PC is the new definition of backwards game design.

Hackers have their uses and that is why I love them. :)

"Alright, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade - make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager. Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons. Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons. I'm going to to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"

Played some of it at a friend's place. The first mission felt like an elaborate ad for the US Army, the second mission was like something out of James Bond. The airport thing didn't really do anything for me and it was pretty ridiculous to boot. The Brazil level was pretty interesting and then it went all Tom Clancy/World In Conflict on my and I stopped.

The game design is good and having all the billion different weapons was fun, but it is pretty pants-on-head crazy. Feels like the military got a bunch of money to make the bestest ad ever and gave it all to Infinity Ward.

EDIT: The levels feel like Infinity Ward got a thousand developers and had each of them do the coolest thing they could think of, picked the best ~20 and tied them together with a "story". Was it really necessary to put ice climbing in the game? WTF?

It's best to think these games as (semi)interactive versions of Michael Bay movies. Sure he makes movies but he could be scene creator rahter then director. Nor do his movies have to make sense and still millions of people want to see 'em.

You should feel ashamed. Go take a long shower and think about what you just said.

It was a fun movie at a time when there were still fun movies, a better time.

Compared to Tranformers, at least

The Bruce Willis Armageddon? Directed by Bay?

This explains some things. Or maybe not.

Can't wait till they start making bad movies out of Tom Clancy's crap.

The sum of all fears?

Also, uncanny valley CGI scenes should be in Matrix-like movies. For instance, the protagonist hallucinates and the real/CGI scenes are used to tell apart when he's seeing things and when not.

I always thought they'd make Rainbow Six. With John Leguizamo as Ding, Vin Diesel as Clark, Statham as Price, etc. That'd be epic.

Patriot Games and Hunt For Red October were two excellent Tom Clancy-based movies.

but iirc both have much more than 10 years, at that time there was lot of excellent movies made :shifty:

and this would be more likely the cast of the movies today :)

I don't generally feel that the overall quality of movies has changed much since then. Maybe a bit on the decline, if only because there's so much more out there. Nostalgia will start to prop up both of the movies I mentioned more and more too.

excellent movies are made nowadays aswell, but not in such a number like decade or 2 ago... but as anything else, it's just my subjective feeling... i can say at least that 10 years ago, when i run into DVD renting place, i found anything good for watch in less then 5 minutes, nowadays i have to browse the DVD for 10-20 minutes to see something good... not to mention TV, which i watch like 4 hours a month nowadays... so much crap pouring out of every channel everyday, that i would definately sell my TV if i would not have any console... not worth the money...

You have got to be joking. If you want a game that DOESN'T portray the US army as the be all end all good guys its Modern Warfare. The sequel, especially, is like a liberal America-hating fantasy.

American soldier goes undercover as a Russian terrorist and massacres civilians to keep his cover, American General acting to start WWIII with the Russians, lighting British allies on fire etc. to hide his plans? If anything about the army is being advertised its the spiffy weaponry and equipment. Everything else is American screw ups and terrorism, which made no sense whatsoever. '30,000 of my men were killed 5 years ago and the world did nothing! Boo hoo! So I'm going to get the Russians to attack us and kill MORE Americans! Its brilliant!'

Stupid story aside, the game is as they say, a roller-coaster ride.

I caved in and bought this one. I blame EA Scandinavia for misplacing the PS3 DAO Collector's Editions, my girlfriend for having one of those 'running cold' days and myself for rather buying this overpriced game over the half-as-expensive Killzone 2 which I didn't really want. :ermm:

You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that?
