I bought a necklace for the girlfriend. Figured if she puts up with zero gifts in the courting process and 2 months afterwards, (a) that's a keeper, (b) I'm treading on thin ice.

Swarovski is quite inexpensive for all the name value they have to your average pleb.

so apparently my xmas present from a couple of friends has already been sorted out

they're getting me a purple silk pirate shirt

i am amused

And now I have the Christmas gift sorted, too.

I made the entirety of Thanksgiving dinner with the exception of the cranberry sauce and all in all it turned out relatively well in my opinion. I brined the turkey which was probably the only saving grace for it since it took a hell of a lot quicker to cook than I anticipated. Just had left overs and it was pretty delicious. I'm afraid I might be a closet alcoholic though. I didn't sleep so well last night so I went to have a night cap with my meal and lately I've been going on this white wine jag with friends even though I haven't drank alcohol in probably 2 or more years but the white wine we had tasted like divine nectar so 1 night cap turned into like 3 in about 15 seconds flat. And while I was typing this post I thought I was going blind by the moonshine but in actuality it was just my light flickering until it burnt out. Very scary.

But regardless; sweet sweet delicious white wine, how have I lived without you? :'(

There was a time when I questioned the ability for the schizoid to ever experience genuine happiness, at the very least for a prolonged segment of time. I am no closer to finding the answer, however, it has become apparent that contentment is certainly a realizable goal. I find these results to be adequate, if not pleasing. Unfortunately, connection is another subject entirely. When one has sufficiently examined the mind and their emotional constructs, connection can be easily imitated. More data must be gleaned and further collated before a sufficient judgment can be reached.

I am still thinking of what to get my girlfriend for our third year being-a-couple anniversary. It is hard!

Hmm. If I may, let me impart a little of my experience to you here. I don't know how old you are, or where you live. But if you are in Europe, Austrailia, New Zealand, South America, or USA/Canada/Mexico and you are your girlfriend are over 18 and have been dating for three years, there is about a 95% chance she is going to have a conversation with you real soon. It's the "Where is the Relationship Going" conversation (translated into guy speak it's the "Why Haven't You Asked Me to Marry You Yet?" conversation). Now this conversation is usually unpleasant for the guy. This is of course by design, the girl is trying to jolt you into action and this is seldom accomplished without a little pain. It can be postponed if you are both in college, or if not it can be postponed for a short time by frequent and increasingly expensive gifts. But you are just treading water with that. Sooner or later you will have to either buy the ring and just do it, break up with her, or postpone and eventually endure the dreaded "Where is the Relationship Going". One additional thought, any proposal after the "Where is the Relationship Going" gains you far less credit than one made before the "Where is the Relationship Going". So as you are considering what to get her, if you are going to marry her anyway, suprise her with a diamond ring. After all there is nothing wrong with a long engagement.

Just my $.02

I have always managed to argue that a piece of paper doesn't change a relationship. It can't make one happen, and it can't hold one together. But then:

a) I'm single

b) I don't tend to date conventional women.

I think I mentioned last week that I tend to treat dating the way some Englishmen treat mountain climbing. It's a cool growth experience. But even mountain climbers don't live on mountains.

Bought a laptop. Immediately thereafter, my dad was rushed by ambulance to the ER. Life sucks.

Being Korean, I have enough anecdotal evidence of people who dated for 6-9 years before marrying... heh.

Some of my best friends lived together for 12 years before marrying. Talk about checking things out first :wowey:
