Zoraptor Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 It probably wouldn't be hard to get permission either, if you were a real paranoid, since it's decent marketing for your guns, like YouTube. Not necessarily, a description like "this 9mm pistol manufactured by Zoraptorean Arms can perforate even the toughest paper bag, but not much else. Its poor construction means it also tends to jam frequently, and at the worst moment possible. In fact, you'd be a fool to bring this gun to a knife fight" might not be seen as good publicity. Due to the way non-realism oreintated games are constructed you're likely to end up with situations where guns that fire identical ammo do differing damage for simple gameplay reasons, implying one is inherently better than the others even when that is not necessarily so. If I make an Steyr AUG an entry level assault rifle whose effectiveness is equivalent to paintballing your enemy, and an m-16 an advanced model for gameplay reasons then that implies a quality difference which Steyr may not be happy with as, technically, they ought to do pretty much exactly the same damage as they fire the same ammo.
lord of flies Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 To be a spy for a state you pretty much can't be much of a socialist. Well I think anyways. Open to hearing other thoughts on the matter...It's called entryism, newbie. I'll remind you that the great american communist Lee Harvey Oswald was a former marine. He was a terrible communist, the USSR booted him out because he was a big whiner. He killed the President of the United States at least in part because of his "commitment to Marxism and communism."

Raithe Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 He killed the President of the United States at least in part because of his "commitment to Marxism and communism." You're on the Alpha Protocol boards and you want to invite the conspiracy theorists out now? After all.. he was just a patsy... "Cuius testiculos habeas, habeas cardia et cerebellum."
lord of flies Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 You're on the Alpha Protocol boards and you want to invite the conspiracy theorists out now? After all.. he was just a patsy... No. The CIA could not even pull off an invasion of the exiles in Operation Zapata, despite having pulled one off less than a decade prior with Operation PBSUCCESS. They are incompetent pieces of human trash whose rare success meets only the death of third- and second-worlders, not the end of the life of the Man Who Started Vietnam.

Hurlshort Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I'm still not sure how being a miserable guy who felt unappreciated and decided to take it out on the President = great communist.
Killian Kalthorne Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Exactly my point with my post. Talk about over one's head and between the knees. "Your Job is not to die for your country, but set a man on fire, and take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe."
lord of flies Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I'm still not sure how being a miserable guy who felt unappreciated and decided to take it out on the President = great communist. He killed the United States President who put the country in Vietnam. If he was "unappreciated" and "miserable," that does not change the fact that one of his primary motivations was Marxism. Emotional causes often lead to great men of action taking a stance; the death of Lenin's brother was a pivotal moment in his political life, for instance.
213374U Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I hope you're not implying that to be a successful communist one must be deranged! - When he is best, he is a little worse than a man, and when he is worst, he is little better than a beast.
Nepenthe Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I hope you're not implying that to be a successful communist one must be deranged! But it surely helps! You're a cheery wee bugger, Nep. Have I ever said that? Reapercussions
lord of flies Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I hope you're not implying that to be a successful communist one must be deranged!A certain exceptional mental character can certainly a positive characteristic for a good communist. To call such character "deranged" is obviously quite silly though.
213374U Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 "Madness" is just misunderstood genius. You are only deranged if you don't get to write history! - When he is best, he is a little worse than a man, and when he is worst, he is little better than a beast.

Hurlshort Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 The problem is Lee Harvey Oswald killing JFK didn't end the Vietnam war. In fact it might have prolonged it, given that LBJ inherited a situation he wasn't comfortable with and the fact that his staff (which changed little from JFK to LBJ) supported it fully. Since JFK entered us into Vietnam, who knows if he would have been more comfortable pulling the plug on it early? But that's the problem with political assassinations in general, they rarely solve problems and often stir up more trouble.
Wrath of Dagon Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 May be you should rephrase "The problem is", that's not the only problem. Btw, JFK never agreed to send American troops to Vietnam, I just heard that on the radio. "Moral indignation is a standard strategy for endowing the idiot with dignity." Marshall McLuhan

alanschu Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I remember hearing a story about Lyndon Johnson trying to intimidate Lester B. Pearson into joining the United States in the Vietnam War. Just hearsay though, I can't substantiate the claim.

Purkake Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 It's delayed, officially. Does it really matter why?
