Holy ****! I had Heard of the D
but I hadn't even bothered to look for
as I thought what could they make of such a broad story... That
does look real nice to burn some free time. I'm suprised

It is a horrible abomination that only Uwe Boll's twisted mind could create. Here's an overview.

The movie has an amazing cast, actually. I don't know how Boll manages to do that... Bloodrayne had Michael Madsen in it, for cryin' out loud.

The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.

So theres wardogs, what else. Your basic D&D bestiary ?

There are the various types of darkspawn - genlocks, herlocks, shriekers, and ambassadors.

The demons - pride, hunger, desire, and abominations

We also know there are werewolves, dryads, and giant spiders.

And dragons, both normal ones and archdemons.

And the blue ogre.

I would like everyone to read this preview done by Gamebanshee:

Warning: Mild spoilers abundance.

http://www.gamebanshee.com/previews/dragonageorigins2-1.php

In this very fine preview you see just how your actions and consequences will turn out - at least for two of the presented options to you.

You will also learn that whatever you choose might come back to haunt you during the game - often very literally :ermm:

To me, this doesn't spell anything other than a return to the good old dialogue of Baldur's Gate, now with even more choice, consequence and seeing the results of your actions.

edit 1:

Here's a more specifik article on the whole thing: (please be advised spoilers abound)

http://www.tentonhammer.com/node/72908

As for dwarves, there seems to be a lot of political backstabbing going on in the dwarfen community underground - at least that's what I read somewhere? Maybe in the German preview of the game from GamesCon? Or some other place... edit 2: found it:

http://pc.ign.com/articles/101/1014618p1.html

If you go here: (again, spoilers abound)

http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/dragonage/n...p;mode=previews

you will learn about the mage origin from a human perspective. Very nice, I find :)

Oh, and there will be NO DRM for this game, (unless you buy a digital copy of course). PLease see this thread:

http://daforums.bioware.com/viewtopic.html...6&forum=135

And yes, there will be a pause feature, meaning you will get to pause the game in combat - and give orders to your team mates...

As for cohones; for my money, Bioware is showing a lot of cohones, especially with the Origin stories whose outcome will ripple thorugh the story of the game.

And these Origin stories clearly proves that DA: Origins isn't just a hack/slash game or a game where only Blood and Violence abound...

Not completely new - sufficiently new. Exactly what the previous games weren't.

Yeah I understand. Food doesn't change to something else if you give it a new name. I don't understand people who buy a new NHL game every year, it's the same damn game no matter what year it has in it's name.

I like new things just as much as you but I don't mind if a game recycles ideas from past if it is done well. And so far it looks like Dragon Age does just that.

You know, everytime I see a trailer like that, I think "nobody is going to pay to see crap like that" and then the movie goes straight to number one everywhere. Last time that was Twilight. I guess I'm a bad movie critic :ermm:

Archdemon dragons? Are they like half-fiend dragons? Surely they can't be demons and dragons at the same time.

Why not, it sounds so cool? :ermm:

Why not? Because DnD says otherwise? If Bio says that in Ferelden they're a subspecies, then they are.

I agree with dracolich being cooler though.

Dracoliches are way cooler, but I guess demon-dragons are OK too.

It was sarcasm :ermm:

I wasn't replying to you.

The demon-dragon sounds like a bunch of dudes got together and were like "we already have dragons and demons, but we need something MORE awesome. I know, dragons possessed by demons! Awesome".

Dragons in Ferelden were once revered as the Old Gods. Then Andraste came, and the Chantry. The Chantry still teaches that 'it was the hybris of men that lead to their downfall', and the dragons fled into the underground, into the deep ground underneath Ferelden.

Then the Blight came. Whenever the darkspawn reaches one of the old slumbering Dragons, they corrupt it, and it becomes an Archdemon, possesed by the darkspawn's demonic power by - yes - a demon.

Archdemons in Ferelden are NOT a subspecies, they are very rare as there only seems to be seven or nine of the Old Dragons slumbering in the ground underneath Ferelden.

Why did the dragons flee? Aren't they supposed to be 'uber' creatures being able to lay waste to entire armies? Oh, and are they sentient?

The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.

No idea. They are very powerful but not invincible. They are not sentient, they are pretty much just animals. Except the archdemons. They are probably sentient.

If the dragons really are non-sapient(that's the word, sentient means you are aware of your surrondings), it's pretty much a cop-out. In Shadowrun dragons are are CEOs of the megacorps and always meddle in politics etc. same with DnD, just having them be dumb monsters for slaughter is just sad.

That sounds really stupid in my opinion.

I think that it's a good choice to keep them just animals. At least that clich

In science fiction, sentience is "personhood": the essential quality that separates humankind from machines or lower animals. Sentience is used in the study of consciousness to describe the ability to have sensations or experiences, known to some Western academic philosophers as "qualia".

Also from wiki:

Sapience is often defined as wisdom, or the ability of an organism or entity to act with appropriate judgment. Judgment is a mental faculty which is a component of intelligence or alternatively may be considered an additional faculty, apart from intelligence, with its own properties.

Wisdom != self awareness
