New Game Ideas

Yeah, I sometimes get this feeling that tells me what kind of game, usually RPG, that I want to play but i do not own. I try finding it in the internet yet find that such a game does not exist, or the closest thing is nothing of what i want. It ticks me off.

Here you can give some ideas for games you would like to see on the shelves. I'll start.

My idea is for an X-Men based RPG. And I don't mean like X-Men Legends or some Wolverine game(Though Wolverine is bada$$) where you just level up to get new abilities of preexisting characters. I mean a game where you make your own character, their own powers from a preset choice selection, and at some point choose to join the X-Men, or the Brotherhood of Mutants.

You begin by making your character, choosing gender, race, hair eye and skin color, maybe morph the body, height and weight, and initial power. Then you start what seems like an average school day, but you soon discover your powers. Your two best friends decide to help you learn how to control you powers as the tutorial, one friend trying to tempt you to to bad things, the other trying to tell you to "do the right thing". The next day, as a sort of final "Test" you help foil a mugging or store robbery for good, or commit such acts for bad, while concealing your identity. You are soon then approached by a representer of the X-men and one from the Brotherhood, choosing one path doesn't mean you are of than alignment. You could join the Brotherhood and still be good, like a sort of conscious for the other members, or bad just like the rest of them. Or you could join the X-Men and be goodie-goodie two shoes like them, or be a rebel anti-hero. Your choice decides the kind of missions you take, the reactions of others, and training. regardless, later in the game the two will need to join forces to deal with a larger threat, maybe in the form of Apocalypse or maybe the Shadow King, or maybe of some other evil force. Through out the game you make choices in dialogue, combat, and other interactions with the people of the game world. Your choices affect how people view you, and in game news in between missions, and the development of your powers as you gain experience and level.

I envision this game to be like Fallout, Fable, Mass Effect or KotOR in game play, maybe like Alpha Protocol.

No matter how fast the Light is, upon reaching its destination it will find the Darkness already there, waiting for it.

Anything Fable-ish and star wars for PS2.

Anything specific you want in the game?

or how you'd like it to go?

I would love to see a Lexx crpg. Unfortunately, there is unlikely to be a market for it :p

Check with your doctor, it's probably schizophrenia.

I want a tactical RPG with awesome turn-based combat and a great story. Something like the Aliens RPG was supposed to be...

Low fantasy, in a non-Medievalist way. The classical Maya era (With appropriate magic and mythos, of course) would work perfectly, particularly the competitive city-state oriented world, ancient rumored civilizations, and a plethora of culture clashes would fit the genre perfectly.

Other than that, I can imagine a stat-based, non-linear platformer that's not Japanese. Being set in a bizarre, cartoon-ish world like The Neverhood would definitely help.

A sandbox-y sort of decaying dystopia setting would be perfect, especially if it's paired up with lots of transgressionalist themes, particularly if it's inspired by Fight Club. Having a Tyler Durden-esque NPC as your mentor would be surrealistic beyond belief.

A game where you play as a revolutionary in Latin America. Your goal is to undermine the current regime and build broad public support across the country, all the while dodging CIA agents and the corrupt dictatorship's secret police. If you're careful and lucky, you can lead a revolution with a broad base of support, collapse the nation's current, counter-revolutionary military and put yourself in power.

Alternatively, an adventure game where you play as an American journalist in Russia during the October Revolution. Your goal is to collect as much information as possible to write an objective, thoughtful analysis of the nation's development following the February Revolution up until the end of the Russian Civil War. The ending is that you go back home only to find that the government has been spying on you the whole time, your articles get your magazine closed down for sedition, you get arrested over and over, no one wants to listen to you that there should be no intervention in the RCW on the side of the whites, and then you go back to Russia and promptly die of typhus.

Cyberpunk game along the veins of Ghost in the Shell or Bungie's Oni.

An RPG that is clearly inspired by the Anime's "Hellsing" where you play as a member of special forces (Like SWAT) that is specialised in dealing with supernatural beings.

Cthulhu RPG game based in Victorian Era with perhaps famous fictional characters you may come across like Sherlock Holmes.

Dune RPG... possibilities are endless with such a huge, in-depth universe... play as Bene Gesserit, Tleilaxu face-dancer or Atreides/Harkonnen officer...
...jump out of sand and slit peoples' throats, get your vehicle eaten by giant worms, it's all there waiting for you. Edited by Oner

I also had an interesting idea for an Oblivion-style "open ended" RPG: a fantasy version of the East Indies. You play as a "european" colonial guard, something along the lines of the KNIL or the Indian Imperial Police. You can either fulfill your military duties, following orders diligently, even if that means burning down native villages, or you can desert. If you desert, there are a much larger number of things you can do: you can fight against your former comrades-in-arms to free the native populace, become a mercenary or other criminal element, or simply kill everyone you can find for no reason.

Here's another game I'd like to see made:

You know how in most first-person games, the player is human fighting aliens or monsters? Well, I'd like to see a game where you are an alien or monster and you have to fight both your kin and human soldiers. Like playing one of the other races in Mass Effect or from the Star Wars series, something like that.

No matter how fast the Light is, upon reaching its destination it will find the Darkness already there, waiting for it.
