Purkake Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 So how fast is your internet? Go to www.speedtest.net, choose the closest server and start the speed test. When you get the results there's a button on to "copy forum link", press that and paste it here. Here's mine:

213374U Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Couldn't be a pirate even if I wanted to... - When he is best, he is a little worse than a man, and when he is worst, he is little better than a beast.
theslug Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Yous guyz's upload is pretty bad. Btw dogmeat pretty windy out today. There was a time when I questioned the ability for the schizoid to ever experience genuine happiness, at the very least for a prolonged segment of time. I am no closer to finding the answer, however, it has become apparent that contentment is certainly a realizable goal. I find these results to be adequate, if not pleasing. Unfortunately, connection is another subject entirely. When one has sufficiently examined the mind and their emotional constructs, connection can be easily imitated. More data must be gleaned and further collated before a sufficient judgment can be reached.

Kor Qel Droma Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 (edited) Couldn't be a pirate even if I wanted to... Whoops, the first test I took was about the same as yours, El Numbero, but the second had a little better results. Edited August 7, 2009 by Kor Qel Droma Jaguars4ever is still alive. No word of a lie.
Hurlshort Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Actually, considering I have to cover 1350 miles every time I do something, I guess it's rather quick.
WILL THE ALMIGHTY Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 "Alright, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade - make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager. Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons. Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons. I'm going to to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"
Deraldin Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 (edited) All the major ISPs around here suck. Faster would be nice, but I'd hate to give any of them more of our money. Edit: Except for Hurlshot's Wildblue, my Sympatico is tied with Kor's Telus for lowest ISP rating at 2.6. Woo! Go us! Edited August 7, 2009 by Deraldin
kirottu Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 I don This post is not to be enjoyed, discussed, or referenced on company time.
Dragula Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 (edited) I'm stumped by the amount of suckage all your ISPs seems to have. Edited August 7, 2009 by Dragula
Gorgon Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 I didn't know my up was so crappy. Still, 10 mps is plenty. Na na na na na na ... greg358 from Darksouls 3 PVP is a CHEATER. That is all.
Gorgon Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Ugh what the, don't you live in the city, and didn't Al Gore personally dig down cables for the information super highway internets. Na na na na na na ... greg358 from Darksouls 3 PVP is a CHEATER. That is all.
mkreku Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 I blame my lousy speed on my university's lame speed throttling. Sunet is evil, but at least it's free. Swedes, go to: Spel2, for the latest game reviews in swedish!
LadyCrimson Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 (edited) I want to know what the star rating means. User ratings of service co? Edit: I did it again just to see how different it'd be moment to moment: Edited August 7, 2009 by LadyCrimson “Things are as they are. Looking out into the universe at night, we make no comparisons between right and wrong stars, nor between well and badly arranged constellations.” – Alan Watts
LadyCrimson Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 (edited) Btw, don't feel too impressed. That's just local. Anything near W. coast isn't bad/stays above 20-25, but you test from a server on the East coast and it sinks like a stone. It doesn't matter what your rated speed is vs:worldwide surfing...too many other factors. Edited August 7, 2009 by LadyCrimson “Things are as they are. Purkake Posted August 7, 2009 Author Posted August 7, 2009 I want to know what the star rating means. User ratings of service co? It's the rating that people have given to their ISPs. Obviously this doesn't show real-world performance very accurately, but it does matter for downloading stuff off Steam etc.
LadyCrimson Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Makes sense, I figured. And in that case, I'm surprised users didn't rate Comcast, business account version or not, a bit lower. It is, after all, still Comcast. I wish upload speeds were at least twice as fast, it's frustrating....tho I can maybe understand why companies don't want to do that. Is downloading from Steam always local-ish to you, or something? “Things are as they are. But even downloading from Fileshack's US server I get up to their server limit 750KB/s. Edited August 7, 2009 by Purkake

I moved out to the country a few months ago. Peaceful, but the internet options stink. I will try something different next year, I'm locked into a contract for now.
