Musopticon?
N is fun, so is NotPorn and all the clones. Though I might have a very different idea of what makes a fun internet game than some. I got that Dungeon Siege 2 finished. Cullen was a dual-wielding Knight at level 42 when I finally killed Valdis the Impostor. Had Evangeline as a melee backup with a bladed fighter staff and constant Whirling Strike spam, left the back row of the party to Amren who was glad enough to use the overkill unique crossbow that the seventh to last enemy in the game dropped and finally Taar took care off all buffing and healing ever since I dropped Deru off the party because a secondary healer felt nonsensical in the first chapter. Final boss fight was pretty cool, though I liked the Archmage fight a lot more. Had a lot to do with atmosphere I guess. Valdis' saving grace was the spot-on voice acting. When he drops the tough guy facade to yell after the broken sword and the gray eminence(lol twist) just tells him to go buy the farm, I felt pretty rewarded for all the clicking I had to bear before finally getting to the final sanctum. The dialogue was mostly tied to convention of course, but the delivery was great. The end cinematic itself was balls though. Sure, looked fine, but I was hoping for something more personal ever after the Aman'lu enounter with Drevin's sister. That kind of actual characterization for the main character was something completely out of the blue for me. In a hack'n'slash game of all things! All in all, best bargain bin game ever. Works like a charm on almost any 'puter and is brilliant fare to kill the hacking need before Diablo 3 comes to clean the table and everyone forgets what happened before in the genre. kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. tripleRRR
You should try the DS2 expansion. The classes it introduces are somewhat subpar but it still has lots more good stuff. Using a gamepad to control an FPS is like trying to fight evil through maple syrup.
Moatilliatta
@Muso N? I do remember the NotPorn and NotPron (or something like that) games and they were quite fun until you had to hunt othere forums for the answer to clues because it became unreasonable. Musopticon?
I will, though that thing seems to be fairly rare. To be honest, I'm full of epic magic fests right now. If anyone can recommend me something down the earth, I'll be thankful. Moat: N was the physics-based ninja flash game, released as N+ into Xbox Live Arcade. And NotPron has been solved by about a dozen people last I looked. Don't worry, I suck at the thing as well. Edited August 29, 2008 by Musopticon? kirottu said: I was raised by polar bears. Musopticon?
Well, I liked Mafia well enough. Jagged Alliance 2 was also pretty cool back in the day. Moatilliatta
Well, I liked Mafia well enough. Jagged Alliance 2 was also pretty cool back in the day. How's that for starters? Bad? One of them is in a genre with three series so the chance of missing a game is close to nil. The other is effectively dead. [insert crying baby jesus.] Are you one of the people around here that haven't played Company of Heroes yet? Mount and Blade has zero magic, so I guess that could be of use. WILL THE ALMIGHTY
I've decided I'm going to buy a bunch of Xbox Games at the same time. Mostly for single-player. Bioshock (I need my daily dose of steampunk) Orange Box (I wasn't gonna buy it, because frankly it doesn't interest me, but apparently Half-Life is a good game) Assassin's Creed (maybe) and... ? I might wait for FarCry 2 and Dead Space though. They release on the same day I think. "Alright, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade - make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager. Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons. Do you know who I am? Gorth
Great game. Too easy to win the infantry battles though. And I never found out how to win a sea battle consistently, not to mention the chariot racing “He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. Roskva
Am currently poking my way around Jade Empire, Prince of Perisa: Warrior Within and Ninja Gaiden again. Thinking about checking out Beyond Good and Evil and Eternal Darkness, since they both sound really interesting and different from mainstream games that are pumped out. Assassin's Creed (maybe) A rental might be better, since Assassin's Creed can be unforgivingly repetitive and that the combat system is pretty easy to master after your first or second mission. It felt like a long chore to play after the first thirty minutes of gameplay to me, but you might like it. Still recommend that you rent it first to see if the gameplay appeals. If there is one thing I can comment positively on though, it's got to be the climbing and free roaming. Oh, and assassinating people at random. The other two games though are definitely something you should check out. They're pretty fun, especially Portal. mkreku
I had a lot of fun with Assassin's Creed, just going around town, looking for flags and templars and assassinating guards whenever I got the chance.. until I realized that the towns didn't have a set number of guards to waste, but a never-ending spawn of guard clones that poured out of the walls, no matter how many I took care of. Then I lost all interest in assassinating and combat and just breezed through the main missions. I still think it was a good game, but a wasted opportunity for a classic. So close! WILL THE ALMIGHTY
Heavenly Sword You know, surprisingly, this is the best voice acting and facial animations I have ever seen in a video game. SteveThaiBinh
Just finished Trial By Fire (remake). That has to be the best ending sequence of any game ever. Seriously, who doesn't want to sit in front of a screen for ten minutes while every NPC you've met in the entire game tells you how wonderful you are? The remake as a whole is excellent, seems very stable. Some of the VGA screens perhaps as pretty as professionals might have managed - AGD have updated the screens to higher resolution and 256 colours, but haven't really used the new resolution to its full potential. That said, the combat is much improved (if you like that sort of thing) - I even had to turn the difficulty slider down for my final battle with Khaveen (in the original, the problem was remembering to let him get a hit in before I killed him, otherwise the 'yield' dialogue didn't trigger). Not a huge amount was added to the game for the fighter path, though I never figured out what to do with the snowglobe. So obviously now I'm playing QfG3. We're going all the way to Silmaria, we are!
