GreasyDogMeat Posted May 24, 2008 Share Posted May 24, 2008 I actually liked it. Its better to compare Fable to an adventure/exploration game like Zelda: Ocirina of Time. Part of the reason I like it though, is that I hadn't heard much of Fable, and Fable had apparently been hyped as god's gift to gaming. Its not perfect, but I liked the art direction, the graphics and some of the sand-box like features in the villages. You can also fart and burp in people's faces. Most hack and slash titles make you battle minions for hours before reaching the boss battles. Fable suffers from the opposite. The game is literally made up of like 7 boss fights. I heard the hype about Fable, but after Black & White (I believe my first experience with Molyneux), I was already thoroughly skeptical and decided to ignore all the hype (indeed, I had forgotten about it really). I played what might be called the first 'chapter' of the game, until you rescue your sister (i think). It was a pretty fun, if basic and transparent, game, but it basically played like an odd parody that's not really funny of CRPGs. Eventually, I realised there was nothing in this game that is actually unique, or enough of a 'hook' to make me come back to it. But then, I was never that fond of Zelda, either, only really liked Ocarina of Time. I did enjoy Hurlshots point though. Oerwinde Posted May 25, 2008 Share Posted May 25, 2008 I'd classify it as more of an action rpg than a full hack and slash, theres significantly more story and non-combat options than say Diablo, but not enough focus on non-combat options to call it a full RPG. Again, its a fun little romp, as long as you don't take it too seriously. So far with Fable 2 it looks like Molyneux is doing it right. Keeping tight lipped on the features until they're implemented so as to not overhype it. The area between the balls and the butt is a hotbed of terrorist activity. Just like I could tell Deus Ex and PS:T weren't my thang after playing them for 10 minutes, I guess. They're now both part of my top 5 games list. Still, I had a point somewhere.
