What you did today

It was most recent version which had a) finally translated into finnish b) if sources are right it's been around since 27th day of this month.

Goddamn this. And I just had finished my humongous download process for HD Quality Gurren Lagann :ermm:

Anyway I deleted it from C (strangely it wasn't in System32 or in whole Windows folder at all) and ran Norton which found it and named it as "system32.spybot.worm", well I "succesfully" deleted with it and program told me I should restart my computer for deleting yadda yadda to be finalized. Well, I did that and after I got back bang there it was again.

Now I've lost my interface though that might be because I started to shut down suspicious looking processes. What's command so I can get it back via CTRL ALT DEL? If it doesn't get back it is that viruses work (though it should be mere spambot)

Anyway it slowed, ****ed etc. bla bla my computer.

I won't formate my C Drive under any circumstances but my search for help has been more than quite confusing with threads etc. ranging from 2007 to this day full with ideas that are said to work and not to. I haven't found any "magic words" for it yet :(

Only sure "cure" is formating though that would be pyrrhic victory

Advice is more than welcome

I went to the doctor yesterday. Actual doctor consultation lasted approximately 2 minutes and 23 seconds, which still included the physical examination (heart, breathe, etc). He told me to go see an optometrist, which I did this morning. He said my eyes were in good working order, some slight prescription problem but not enough to get glasses. So I suppose the slug will have endure, until the brain tumor/meningitis/blood test proof diabetes kill me. I mean seriosuly how are they going to put me off like that. At least the last doctor I had actually had some sort of interest in treating his patient and made me get blood/urine tests. Headache and fever virtually daily and other stuff. I'll miss you guys when I start convulsing to death while watching The Wire and my cats feast upon my flesh until someone finds my dead corpse. Freakin doctors, I hate em. :'(

There was a time when I questioned the ability for the schizoid to ever experience genuine happiness, at the very least for a prolonged segment of time. I am no closer to finding the answer, however, it has become apparent that contentment is certainly a realizable goal. I find these results to be adequate, if not pleasing. Unfortunately, connection is another subject entirely. When one has sufficiently examined the mind and their emotional constructs, connection can be easily imitated. More data must be gleaned and further collated before a sufficient judgment can be reached.

How about turning off automatic system restoration, get a tool specific against this virus (Symantec and Kaspersky etc. offer those), run it and hope for the best?

I have Symantec and of course that was first thing I did

The bastard "deleted" it. Now it happily finds it but can't do **** (nor can I through it). Same with other programs.

One of my friends who caught it too managed to get rid of it by deleting messenger and then getting it back. Well, I uninstalled it and downloaded new one. Can't install it due to "critical error".

Now I got program that security proferssionals use, "HijackThis" which is destined to kill and crush all opposition. :)

Problem is you must not use it under any circumstances without professional help unless you want to screw your computer bad

Tomorrow is my last day in my current job. It's been a heck of a ride these last 6 years.

find something new then GD?

today i had an EGD - esophagogastroduodenoscopy. basically, they tried to knock me out then stuck a tube down my throat to look at my esophagus, stomach and duodenum. i have a mucosal abnormality in and around my duodenum. in other words, it looks like an ulcer. he's testing for h. pylori but i won't find out for 7-10 days. grrrr.

btw, they "tried" to knock me out with versed (like valium). apparently i took twice the dosage as most patients (9 mg instead of 5 mg) as well as 100 mcg of fentanyl (pain killer, normally only 50 mcg is given) but managed to stay awake for the majority of the procedure. it was weird. very weird. either way, versed is a really, really, really killer drug. too bad it acts/wears off so fast and knocks you out for the most part. the after-buzz was great, however.

Yep, I accepted a new position as the Tower Structural Engineer for the Southern Region. More money, no more RF channel planning. Plus I'm moving to Memphis and out of S. Florida forever so it's all good. The best of all is when I told my ex-wife. The only thing I'm dreading is when I move the dogs. But thats a few months away yet. I am still shopping for builders for the new house.

Hell, I was wondering why you didn't come online anymore. That worm is a bastard, I got the subversion message from at least 4 people during the last 5 hours, luckily I saw that thing was an "exe" before I downloaded the supposed "image file".

good luck, btw, GD. we think our phase II prototype development will be funded now which is a big load off of my mind. of course, we've already spent most of that funding in IR&D over the last 6 months.

I slept a lot. My hubby slept a lot. We woke up and puttered around the house. In the evening we had an expensive dinner and then watched CSI:LV until our eyes bled - I bought season's 1,2,3 and 7, which were ones I didn't already have, and so we've been re-watching 'em all week.

It's been a pleasant, lazy Saturday.

Did full day's training, then established that odd pain in chest from yesterday is probably broken rib. Feeling consequently extremely macho.

Broken ribs are fun. Did you cough up some blood? Because it only counts if your lung was hit by it :)

Got back from a weekend spent on the river in Wimberley. We rented a pretty swank house on a cliff above the river and got drunk and sunburned and we all learned that we all have stardust inside us and the best way to get it out is with a spoon. Oh, that delicious stardust.

This caught my eye:

There is no way to programmatically determine that two regular expressions are equivalent. The best you can do is write a lot of test cases to make sure they behave the same way on all relevant inputs. You'll talk more about writing test cases later in this book.

So basically the only way to determine if two regexps are equivalent is proof by exhaustion? So would that make this an NP problem? Hmm. Interesting - I've done a bit of work on finite state automata and Kleene algebras, and it was a bit of a head spin. I wish I'd taken that course on formal methods in programming now.

It is possible to write an algorithm which for two given regular expressions decides whether the described languages are essentially equal, reduces each expression to a minimal deterministic finite state machine, and determines whether they are isomorphic (equivalent).

Wait, which is it?

Hmm, yeah, they're equivalent to finite state automata, aren't they?

Edit: Screw this. I'm just going to make a program instead and learn along the way. That's so much easier. It will strip everything from file except image tags - of the <img> (and corresponding XHTML) kind. This will be fun!

Nuts. I didn't puncture a lung, but it is starting to hurt more now. Probably because I can't stop poking it. I'm at a client's today, and they think I'm bonkers.
