Hell Kitty
There are explosions going on, but it seems everything and everyone is waiting on YOU and only YOU to proceed and do your thing in order for the world to keep moving. It doesn't a great great job of maintaining the illusion of a big war going on around you, but that's just judging from a 5-10min demo. Sounds a bit like CoD games, where nothing happens, or enemies keep respawning, until Player Character moves forward. Moatilliatta
Let's talk about the PS3 then! I'm still waiting for it to be worthwhile in its amount of games. Do you people have any potential recomendations outside of the well known?

Pop
Depends on your model. If you've got an old one, then yes. Backwards compatible PS3s were produced at one time but they've been phased out. Krookie
Really? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard, PS3 is getting worse as time goes on.
Llyranor
Also, if your older models die on you, there's a chance that Sony might actually send you back a newer unit without PS2 backwards-compatibility/ All PS3's have PS1 BC, though. WILL THE ALMIGHTY
I think the PS3's that cost more have PS2 compatibility. "Alright, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade - make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager. Llyranor
Well, actually, there isn't a single PS3 currently being manufactured with PS2-BC. The older models had them. The latest one, IIRC, that had it was the 80gig MGS4 bundle. The current 40 and 80 gig PS3s being sold don't have it. I think the MGS4 bundle was designed to get rid of the last of the "old model" PS3's. Honestly it's probably more cost effective to pick up a PS2 right now. Victor of the 5 year fan fic competition! That's what I've been thinking of doing for a long time, now. I would probably connect it to my PC screen. So many PS2 games I'd like to give a try and can't. Pope
I need a game to play with my girl. Any suggestions? PS3 desperately needs a Worms game. Preferably in oldskool 2d.

kirottu
Did I understand something wrong? I thought only first PS3s had PS2 "chip" or whatever in them and all the rest play PS2 games via software emulation. So all of the PS3s are backwards compatible. Firsts ones are just slightly better at it. Edited March 4, 2009 by kirottu This post is not to be enjoyed, discussed, or referenced on company time. Gfted1
According to this site you can, sorta. The 20Gb and 60GB can with direct PS2 hardware, although the 60GB has been discontinued. The 80GB model does it through emulation. I dont know how accurate or old that article is.
