Diogo Ribeiro Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 I'm going to watch the directors cut of Payback later today. I loved the theatrical cut but apparently Mel Gibson thought the original was way too dark and had the director fired and reshot most of the end. So I'm looking forward to seeing this one. It was the damn Jews' fault.
Diogo Ribeiro Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 I watched Conan the Barbarian the other night. Horribly good. is a superior work of art, but unfortunately ignored.
astr0creep Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 What Dreams May Come Putting aside the amazing cinematography, this story is tearjerkingly touching, especially for a newlywed expecting a first child. http://entertainmentandbeyond.blogspot.com/
metadigital Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 I found it had quite a disturbing effect on some (female) people ... the fact that EVERYONE dies to progress the narrative sorta detracts from the general happy-happy-joy-joy feeling the film aspires to ... Kor Qel Droma Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 You can keep your Good Morning Vietnams and Patch Adams and stuff them in a forgotten drawer somewhere for all I give a ****. What Dreams May Come, to me, is Robin Williams defining moment as an actor. Aside from Death To Smoochy, of course. I still cry like a bitch when he discovers Cuba Gooding's identity . Jaguars4ever is still alive. No word of a lie.
metadigital Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 Watched Sunshine last night. I didn't mind the pedestrian pace of the plot, but I did mind that, when the film takes on its final form, Danny Boyle thought it clever to use optical obfuscation to further the film's tense mood, which had the opposite effect on me. Also, I'm getting bored of (science illiterate) writers equating SF with magic reasons why characters / the universe act in prescribed (and very silly) ways. At many points through the film I could have given the actors several different solutions to the current "only one way" dilemma. OBSCVRVM PER OBSCVRIVS ET IGNOTVM PER IGNOTIVS OPVS ARTIFICEM PROBAT

I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager. Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons. Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons. I'm going to to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"
Kelverin Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Seen some pretty bad to average movies lately - Reign Over Me, Sahara, Premonition, Edmond. Would not recommend any of them, although Don Cheadle was excellent in Reign Over Me. J1 Visa Southern California Cleaning
Pop Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 The first 6 episodes of this season of the Shield is up on the torrent sites (it's up to 4 on the tele) and things are speeding up and getting tighter. Riveting stuff. Join me, and we shall make Production Beards a reality!

LadyCrimson Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 The Lake House. If you're in the mood for the romance drama, it's not terrible. It had one of the fella's from Nip/Tuck in it in a small role, too. “Things are as they are. metadigital Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 Watched Close Encounters of the Third Kind for only about the second time since it came out. Actually it stands up pretty well: one can't help but compare the "sinister shadowy government men in orange coveralls" and the equally quaint and antiquated home appliances props in the houses ..! LadyCrimson Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 I finally saw Aliens vs. Predator. It was absolutely senseless and moronic - but since it made me laugh out loud several times, I can't say it's the worst film ever. And hey, I almost felt bad for the poor wibble Predator at the end ... “Things are as they are. Darth Drabek Posted April 30, 2007 Posted April 30, 2007 I borrowed The Illusionist from a friend and watched it this weekend. Very, very enjoyable. But then again, Edward Norton is always fun to watch. Giamatti and Jessica Biel were good too. baby, take off your beret everyone's a critic and most people are DJs
