Built a fanless HTPC.

CPU: Intel i3 4330

MoBo: ASUS H87M-PRO

RAM: Kingston HyperX 2x2GB 1.6GHz CL9 (I had spare from upgrading my desktop)

Case: Streacom FC5 OD(+150w PSU, +IR reciever)

SSD: Samsung 840 120GB

HDD: Hitachi 300GB 2.5"

I have a Hitachi USB2 1TB HDD and USB3 500GB externals for storage for now. I'm running Windows 7 because I'm running Steam on it, I have partitioned the SSD so I can dual boot with something if I want. I'm using XBMC Frodo at the moment, really like Yatse the android remote app for XBMC, running very few add-ons because I find them buggy and unstable. I'll probably put Plex on there too.

Bought a 4930k new for $200. Don't have much to do with it, though, to be honest...amazing CPU, but I don't really need the performance, (evidence of that fact being that I'm still running along just fine on an old Phenom II x4...), nor do I really want to build another PC...

Nice piece of hardware, even if stupidly named for an Ivy Bridge :) If you don't intend to build any computer from it, just sell it again, it's bound to be a good investment with about a 200% ROI in no time xD

Yeah, guess that's what I'm planning on doing. Might have to buy a new video card soon, (my 4 year old 5770 is going bad, :(), so I guess it will probably be helping fund it...:p

Hi, good catch :)

and i was not looking too close to what the tool produced. the tool i used: http://www.alexnolan.net/software/sysspec.htm to find all the specs.

the card is a single card, with (as written on the box) support for four concurrent displays. (two dual link DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort 1.2)

the screen (funny... generic) iiyama ProLite E2607WS

2x SSD Vertex 2 (120 Gb) in raid 1 (mobo didn't work with vertex 3, sadly)

Mousepad MadCatz G.L.I.D.E. XL (gel based)

The time capsule of seeing what my pc specs were even in the not-huge-past year of 2006 makes me giggle, now. :)

Added another 4tb HDD, this time from HGST. Seems to be much more modern than last year's 4tb drive i got (5400 rpm) with the new drive spinning at 7200 RPM. Currently at 12TB storage now. More room for games and movies!

I finally got myself cornered by a failing harddrive and got one more bullet to hit a SSD as my replacement. I still use 'sleep' a lot, but it's kinda not that needed anymore, because my system is pretty much just as fast to start from a cold boot.. It's just that I got all those programs running that makes me continue using sleep.

  • Aerocool VS-9 (Swiss cheese tower)
  • Chieftech CFT 650 14CS (Modular)
  • ASUS Sabertooth X58
  • i7-960
  • 12 GB DDR3 1600MHz Tripple-channel kit.
  • PowerColour AMD HD 6930 1GB (Special Russian/Chinese edition) with Arctic Accelero Twin Turbo.
  • Plextor M5S SSD 256 GB
  • Seagate Momentus XT 500 GB (failing boot, using the rest as storage)

Games fare much better on the SSD with less stuttering in games.

I think Dell only have the one model? So assuming the ridiculously wide 21:9 (should just say 7:3 :p) ratio U2913WM. Hopefully won't run into too many compatibility issues with that.

Two windows side by side, that's what a lot of people do when working. Also for gaming and video, width is way more important than height for immersion.

I disagree with the latter half of your post, but whatever. Personal preference, I guess. I've always felt like 16:10 is much more aesthetically pleasing than 16:9, having used both...I can't imagine what I'd think of using 21:9.
