WHAT ARE YOU EATING RIGHT NOW?!

I suppose I'll lose TOMBS points for this, but there is such a thing as the Quaker Steak and Lube, and they do serve food there. It used to be good food, too, that Ohio residents would drive across the border for, but that changed some time between my senior year of high school and my freshman year of college.

We used to put up with a million high school kids to get wings on AYCE wing night, but then the wings started to suck, so there was no longer a reason to go there.

So, at least this time, Mothman was NOT at a gay bar.

(not that there's anything wrong with that)

Anyway, I'm eating one of those enormous Subway party subs, purchased in honor of my last day at this job of mine.

I like their wings. Though I definitely wouldn't call them the best in the USA, which they so proudly claim, I think they have some great flavors. Just out of curiosity Darth Drabek, did you ever try an atomic wing? From what I hear they don't taste good at all. People just eat them so they can say they ate one.

Yes. I was cruelly tricked into eating one. While I was up either getting more wings or hitting the john, my "friends" dropped one into my nest of medium or BBQ wings.

You can feel the heat coming off that chicken wing as you raise it to your mouth. They're too spicy to be good, IMO.

Sounds like something I might like...or at least try. :D Depends on what they use for the 'hot' tho...ie, I don't like chili powder based stuff too much.

Grape Nerds

People laugh when I say that I think a jellyfish is one of the most beautiful things in the world. What they don't understand is, I mean a jellyfish with long, blond hair.

Are there places in the States where you can have a cheap meal that is not fast food?

And why does everyone seem to eat Doritos like they're covered in orgasmic powder?

Yes, just not quite as cheap as "fast food" generally. They, for those of us in the food industry, are generally called "quick service resturants". Basically, it costs a bit more, takes a bit longer and are generally more sit-down & to-go oriented then "drive-thru" oriented. The quality is generally much better tho.

Example: http://www.bajafresh.com/jump.jsp?itemID=0...mType=HOME_PAGE

Then there are your solo/mom&pop places.

As for doritos, I havn't had one in years (I'm willing to bet I'm the "healthist" eater on these here boards), but they are effectively crack.

How about a restaurant that is not a franchise business of some sort?

You know, a place that serves home made food.

but yeah, they do exist. Like, for example. my friends family owns a Mexican restaurant and his grandmother hand makes all the tamales and 24 kinds of amazing salsas.

Tho, outside the cultural norms (BBQ, Italian, Mexican, etc..), you would have to be around an ethic neighborhood to find a specific food type in a mom and pop style generally. Medium to Upscale ethnic is easier to find. I have a Brazilian steak house, Sushi,/Japanese, Thai, British (Kidding!), French, etc etc all close to me. Downtown (Chicago) it's obviously much more diverse and easier to find M&P places all over in various ethic varities.

Not right now, but hubby wanted Taco Bell on the way home and for once I said "ok I'll get the nachos" instead of just "ugh no way".

Big mistake.
