ShadowPaladin V1.0 Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 Pikachu I choose you :D I have to agree with Volourn. Bioware is pretty much dead now. Deals like this kills development studios. 478327
Dark_Raven Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 The Chosen One is so yesterday. Can we not think of a newer better hero type? Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.
Dark_Raven Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 Hmm, so Gollum was the Chosen One. I see. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He just wanted the ring back. I'm sure falling into lava and saving the world didnt enter into his head. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> His so purpose was greed, selfishness. It was his precious and no one else's. Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.
Judge Hades Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 I hate being the chosen one but it seems more plausible than what Bioware places in their games.
alanschu Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 (edited) What? Seems like the contradictory statement of the decade. Or are you referring to the different style of chosen one, rather than just the chosen one idea? Edited April 26, 2006 by alanschu
Judge Hades Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 The style in which that the chosen one is... well... chosen.
Dark_Raven Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 I am the savior of the world. I am destined for greatness. Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.
Judge Hades Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 The world can **** itself inside Elminster's pointy hat.
alanschu Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 I am the savior of the world. I am destined for greatness. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Didn't you just say you were against the Chosen One archetype?
Llyranor Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 Yeah, but no one wants to choose her. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)

I am destined for greatness. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Didn't you just say you were against the Chosen One archetype? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It was a Chosen One type statement. I am not against it, I just grow tired of the same thing being repeated. Hades was the life of the party. RIP You'll be missed.
metadigital Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 How LotR should have went: <{POST_SNAPBACK}> OBSCVRVM PER OBSCVRIVS ET IGNOTVM PER IGNOTIVS OPVS ARTIFICEM PROBAT
Diogo Ribeiro Posted April 26, 2006 Posted April 26, 2006 Yeah, but no one wants to choose her. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh snap.
Nick_i_am Posted April 27, 2006 Posted April 27, 2006 Yeah, but no one wants to choose her. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You're just jelous. (Approved by Fio, so feel free to use it)

Blank Posted April 27, 2006 Posted April 27, 2006 (edited) Well, think of it as a metagamer for a second. Playing as the chosen one is better because it is more exciting than not playing as the chosen one... I think? How about becoming the chosen one after you do some junk and get good at junk? I thought i read some review about the early NWN2 and how it was supposed to start you out as unimportant? Did i read about a different game? or did they change that? BTW, I would choose her too  Edited April 27, 2006 by Blank

In NWN your chosen to go defend the creatures at the start. Not because your special, but because you are alive. In Jade Empire the whole plot revolves around who you are. No one else can fill that role. You can become important without having to be some sort of chosen hero. I have to agree with Volourn. Bioware is pretty much dead now. JE sounds good, if we judged games as good if they don't include the "chosen" factor. Edited April 27, 2006 by Blank
Volourn Posted April 27, 2006 Author Posted April 27, 2006 Yup. And, NWN2's stated story fits in the JE camp - though not the same degree; but much closer to that than to NWN OC where you are just some adventurer. DWARVES IN PROJECT ETERNITY = VOLOURN HAS PLEDGED $250.
ShadowPaladin V1.0 Posted April 27, 2006 Posted April 27, 2006 But doesn't being alive when others are not define you as chosen? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not really otherwise every game with a protagonist would have a chosen one by default. Being alive defines you as lucky/skillful nothing more. I have to agree with Volourn. Bioware is pretty much dead now. Deals like this kills development studios. 478327

If it's just a matter of digging out the shard. I have to agree with Volourn. Bioware is pretty much dead now. Deals like this kills development studios. 478327
