Anyone who is keen on discussing about Bao-Dur's character. Likes and dislikes, what his character could have been, and what it could have been without.

i agree with Ender

the voice acting just made him sound incredibly bored, no matter what he was saying.

i liked the idea of the character though. it just didn't turn out very well...

He was usless. Even if you turned him into a Jedi, you still couldn't do much with him. He wasn't that great of a fighter, and he died to quickly. Most of the time he's back on the ship with that Remote. I useally take Visas and Disciple...

it depends when you jedify him. if you keep him at level 6, then hold levels until you can jedify him, he's pretty good.

it's kinda odd how he goes from a pitifully weak Tech Specialist to a big nasty Guardian

Give him just a few levels in Tech spec then hold. Now you have a Jedi Gaurdian with mad skillz!

I liked Bao Dur, he just needs more convo options you can use for more backstory. A nice cut-scene of you two blowing up the planet would have been nice...

Bao-Dur was wikkid awesum!

"I tried the most potent Noise Amplification spell once upon a time. Mavellous spell. I could hear the birds speaking to one another in trees over the horizon, I could hear the rustlings as the clouds rubbed against each other in the sky. I could hear the sound a rainbow makes as it arches it's back over the world. Then a dog barked behind me and I burst my left eardrum."

I agree. Bao-Dur was a great. His voice didn't bother me much, but I hated that he spoke SOOOO low. However, I see no reason for him not wearing robes.

At first I thought his backstory was going to be one of the more interesting ones, but it ended very quickly, and there wasn't much past the original conversation. More often than not, my only conversation option with him was "Never mind." That got really annoying. I also wanted a conversation option to tell him to speak up. That whispery voice of his really got on my nerves. It was like talking to a bellows.

On a couple of my runthroughs, he also had what may have been the most annoying glitch of all time. No matter how many lightsaber components I collected, he always said that I was missing a lens, and wouldn't let me build a lightsaber. I even used a savegame editor to give myself every lens in the game, but he still said I was missing one. Clearly then I used said savegame editor to give myself the lightsaber I should have been able to make, but that was just really annoying. Plus, his conversation options were stuck at asking if I had all the lightsaber parts and "Never mind" for the rest of the game.

In short, I thought that Bao-Dur's character had quite a bit of potential, but was underdeveloped in terms of backstory, and I ended up finding him annoying because of his voice. That glitch didn't help either.

It was his near whisper and the "never mind" that got to me

I agree. I liked his character in general and the concept of War Vet was good, but his story and personality really didn't give me that impression that he was a war vet, when i thought it should have. I thought he should have had at least a couple stories to tell, much like Canderous in K1, he wouldn't stop about the battles he fought and won, although Bao-dur does mention a lot before you jedify him about the regret he feels for going into war (IIRC). :(

He was quite great when you jedify him, makes a good Guardian, plus he has got the added extras of being a Tech Specialist, so that promoted him to being a constant member of my party. :x

The real big thing that let him down was his story after you jedify him. None. "Never mind" every time I tried to talk to him, which just frustrated me.

Bao-Dur was my favorite of all the party members. He was a Jedi killing machine if developed properly, and I felt he was the only character Exile could really trust. The shutting down of all his conversation was frustrating; I failed to see how anything that happened on Dxun helped with such deep-seated psychological trauma. He says he will talk about it later, but he doesn't. Ever. The unkindest cut of all  .

The VA was mild to the extreme for a reason, IMO. Sadly, I dont think there were enough 'real' conversations to make the point properly. Bao shut down much like Exile did, probably because he saw what he was capable of and hated it. His reaction was to deny himself all emotion; he just bottled it up along with all the anger and hate. The scene with Canderous is the best example: Candy was just blabbering in his way, unaware, but I really think he'd have lost this fight because he doesn't have any reason to expect what's coming.

I didn't like Bao-Dur. He was my least favorite character in KotOR 2. I didn't like his voice acting; I felt it was weak and a bit against his character. I also disagree with him having the ability to become a jedi, it just kind of pops up as an option rather then a gradual development, like with Atton or Mira. Every time I have to use his character (like on Telos) he dies on me. I'd rather use G0-T0 then Bao-Dur and I have in certain cases. Once I get passed Telos I don't use Bao-Dur again, he stays on the Hawk.

Errrmmmm.....that lightsaber lens, if you were trying to use the lenses you can buy or make you were doing it totally wrong. You should get the lens you need from quests on your first planet after Telos. I have never heard of anyone not getting a lightsaber.

I found him to be questionable. He seemed to be trying to be a grizzled war vet, but ended up coming across like a philopher. If they wanted a grizzled war vet they should have gotten sombody with a more forceful voice and made his character with a bit more spine.

His voice reminded me of christopher walken, thus, i loved him.

But as with pretty much everyone, "nevermind" seems to be the usual topic of conversation. I agree he's pretty useless, though my current playthrough i must have done something right because the guy is like a damn tank, customised his saber (using the USM mod) to had droid, electrical, and ion damage so he wipes out droids. I've never gotten though GOTO's yaught so quickley before! Shame theres not many places with droids in the game as now i have no use for him >_<

My main problem with him is the lack of conversation. Atton wants pazaak, Kriea repeats herself, Bao Dur "nevermind", visas had 4 repeated short stories, and mandalore bored me.

But i'm getting off topic... I think bao dur could have been better had he a few stories to tell, but he said "i dont like to think about the war" so i guess he wouldnt want to tell stories.

I still talk to him occasionaly for his voice though...

Bao-Dur's relation to the PC in the devastation of Malachor actually helped to fill in much of the story in the Mandalorian wars which was almost something that showed a side effect of the war that Revan had strategised. The thing missing from him was his Malachor lines in the Trayus academy. If there is any part of the story which shows some of this, it is when Bao-Dur and Mandalore have a go at each other about the effect of the war when on the Ebon Hawk.

You heard Christopher Walken in Bao-Bur's voice???....fair enough I gues, though I definately dont hear it myself.

Yeah, not walkens normal speaking voice, but when he whispers. For example in the prophecy or parts of his speech in pulp fiction (the watch).

The creepy whispering voice.

I never got past nevermind with Bao-Dur Either, what does he have to say and I never found out that Canderous was Mandalore. I think that it is wrong that you can only get influence with certain charactors if you have them with you at certain locations, it should be that certain events trigger new conversations, even if the charactor isn't with you at the time.
