Fionavar Posted February 19, 2004 Posted February 19, 2004 You know I am surprised this has not actually been done yet. In fact, I would say it is only a matter of time. Karzak is right, almost every other medium uses this manner of promotional revenue generation. Though it might not occur in more dedicated houses, I must say that I am surprised MS or larger game houses do not do this - the Sims must have done this though? I never played it, but I would suspect this might be one game for sure that would de able to capitalise on the blurring line. Monte Carlo Posted February 19, 2004 Posted February 19, 2004 Many CRPGs have raised the general awareness of the following brands... Heckler & Koch Glock Walther Barratt Colt Mattel (yes, that Mattell, original manufacturers of the M-16 rifle due to their advanced plastics/ mouldings techniques) etc. Cheers MC
neriana Posted February 20, 2004 Posted February 20, 2004 Oh joy, I get to pay $50 to be advertised at. No, bad idea. Very bad idea. Very very very... you get my drift. We get enough brain invasion just driving to work.
Chris Avellone Posted February 20, 2004 Posted February 20, 2004 "Run Like Hell" had some product placement with the Ballz caffeine drink, I think.* Interplay got crates of the stuff for months afterward. * It's true, but feel free to let the comments fly.
Hell Kitty Posted February 20, 2004 Posted February 20, 2004 Oh joy, I get to pay $50 to be advertised at. No, you pay $50 for the game. The advertising is free.

Beerfish Posted February 20, 2004 Posted February 20, 2004 After playing Descent to Undermountain I great urges to start smoking Camel cigarettes. Subliminal advertising no doubt.
Phoenix Posted February 20, 2004 Posted February 20, 2004 No, i dislike the spread of advertisements into other things especially games. Haven't we seen enough advertisements on internet (pop-up, pop-under, etc), when driving (roadside boards), inside super/hypermart (posters), watching TV (advertisement every 10/15 minutes), on buildings (banner), sky (flying ballons), email/mail box (endless spams). My senses were numbed to these garbage already. What next?, a speakers blaring out advertiserments when you taking a dump in toilet?...

Sargallath Abraxium Posted February 20, 2004 Posted February 20, 2004 What next?, a speakers blaring out advertiserments when you taking a dump in toilet?... ...da sad thing be that those ads 'prolly git changed more often than da "Urinal Mint"... ...WHO LUVS YA, BABY!!... 1 A long, long time ago, but I can still remember, How the Trolling used to make me smile. And I knew if I had my chance, I could egg on a few Trolls to "dance", And maybe we'd be happy for a while. But then Krackhead left and so did Klown; Volo and Turnip were banned, Mystake got run out o' town. Bad news on the Front Page, BIOweenia said goodbye in a heated rage. I can't remember if I cried When I heard that TORN was recently fried, But sadness touched me deep inside, The day...Black Isle died. For tarna, Visc, an' the rest o' the ol' Islanders that fell along the way
