The reason that launch's fantastic anime art thread with the supremely awesome pics of cartoon characters was locked was because people had started to discuss... err... anime. Actually, it was unjustly locked!!!

You know what Flatus... I think you may have a point there... I just thought it was spammed during my absence but people were only discussing anime...

The pic is beyond awesome, Zulu, I really like what you did with her hair. One protest though: how could you hide Mira's body under those massive jedi robes?

Great work, Zulu! Now, I have to know... what's the process in which you create your art? Is it a simple drawing, scanned into Photoshop, and coloured? Are you using a tablet? Another program? And, also, how long does a typical piece take to be completed?

 

To julianw: Maybe I'll start my own thread if the demand is high enough. Thanks for the suggestion and the comments! My only beef w/ that is I don't do a lot of SW art. Most of my work is for people who don't much care for SW art in their projects, and those take a long time. :angry: But, we'll see how it goes...

That and robes took less time to draw than her leather/armour combo.

Generally speaking, I always sketch and scan - but more recently I've been using vector tools like the Pen tool an awful lot and it really comes out well

I usually sketch to get a rough idea of what the pic will look like, but in some cases with the pen tool I can do that anyway and save a lot of time - not to mention adjust it very easily

In fact I almost feel like I don't need a tablet - it was something until recently I was considering very seriously about getting.

Pics like that will easily take several hours - I know some like to work over several days, but I usually like to drive through and get it done almost all at once.

Aaargh! My computer's broke, so I haven't been able to post for a while. It's still broke, but I'm getting it fixed. I won't be able to post much until it's fixed. Anyway, excellent artwork, everyone. I'm working on a pic of my own, and will have it up when my pc is fixed.
