"I killed the Exchange guy on Nar Shadda to help the refugees... And he then comes back to life to trouble me in the bar..."

-------------------------------------------

Well, I believe that is because the refugee camp overseer and the Exchange sub-boss are two different characters (though of the same species).

Some further Bugs:

-When Mira fights against the Kath hounds in the pit, she doesn't take any damage from them! I could simply stand there and comfortably slice the critters into pieces!

-When talking to the Jedi Master on Nar Shadaa (after Goto's ship), at least one line of dialogue is repeated twice (in direct succession and in one single reply)

The same thing has happened with Kreia, though I don't know exactly when.

-It is impossible to complete the "Couple reunion" quest on NaSh without getting DS points, at least when your persuasion skill is to high. There should be a way of commanding the thugs to let the woman pass.

- It seems to be impossible to complete the "Fuel source" quest. I talked to Vogga after dealing with the Goto problem, but he's still ranting about the ambushes.

(If I made a mistake here, I would apreciate a hint)

Is it just me or have we all been turned in to beta testers.

Did they know this would happen, that to help ourselves we'd list all the problems we'd encountered and therefore they could sit back and wait for us to play it, found the errors, and then they can release the patch, thereby bypassing the need for Obsidian to spending money on testing this game?

Just wondering...

Funny, I was just thinking about the same thing.

Some of these errors are so obvious that one really has to wonder how they could have passed even the most superficial test imaginable.

If I wasn't so intrigued by the story, I would put the game on the shelf until some major patchwork has been finished.

First thing with Mira, I had the same. But I figured it was because I had her dexterity set so high that they couldn't hit her.

Also had the repeat in dialog

I completed both the "Couple reunion" and "Fuel Source" quests succesfully, and got LS from the first one. Just had to kill every Exchange person down below then tell her to go to her Husband, and I got the other group to leave the Refugees alone via a Force Persuade. Fuel Source I just spoke to Vogga after fixing the dock power problems + Refugee job and transit quests, and he gave me the Creds. - I then went to Telos to see if Luet. Grenn would say thanks, but no one even acknowledged I did anything...(like how the Cult Ithor Leader didn't either after going to the surface).

One thing about the Quarren being the same guy, they thought it was as I did because he says "I'm the one in charge of the Refugee Sector" and in the Refugee Sector you see this Exchange guy who is the same species and says He's the one in charge of the Sector. I didn't check the name though on either of these to know, but it does seem to make you think they are the same... though this may not be a bug or anything of any consequence and just that they are different I suppose, but it's what makes you think there is an issue there.

The problem is that I DIDN'T kill the oversser and therefore remained on "friendly terms" with the Exchange guards. I couldn't get the thugs at the entrance to attack me, because my intimidation attempts were too succesful - they simply backed away and left me in peace. The only way to kill them (in this particular scenario) is to attack after they have already surrendered - an this leads to DS points. You can neither use your influence to order the guards to let the woman pass nor can you get the overseer to do so. Additionally, I couldn't provoke and kill the oversser anymore (which -apparently- will make all the guards attack you) - the only dialogue-options left were "How can I improve my standing with the Exchange?" and "Why do you hate humans?" (or something like that).

Concerning the Solleco(?) gang: I couldn't reason with THEM, either. I had entered their terrain BEFORE I got Hussef's mission, and used Force Persuasion on the guards. After that, all I could do was suggest attack plans to the gangleader, who then decided to attack ME instead.

Out of curiousity Cerebus, what version do you have? Only the international versions were patched so I'm kind of curious.

pjp

I play the British version, since German translations (and dubbing) usually suck.

By the way: Is it true that the patch only fixes the manuals? I read this somewhere, but a friend of mine told me that the program also manipulates the main exe and one other important file.

I heard that as well Cerebres, though I can't be sure. It probably does do something though to the game, though I think its just fixing some language text issues.

Ya, I didn't bother Intimidating the guards, just talked to them and they left me alone. Then I went over to the Sorocco camp after speaking to everyone in the Refugee Area, used Force Persuade on the guard at the enterance and entered the camp. I saved just before I spoke to the Sorocco Leader, and told him to attack the North and he attacked me instead. So I reloaded from before that point and just told him instead with a Force Persuade to 'Give the Refugees Some Room' or something like that - that worked perfectly.

Then I went and raided the Exchange with my Stealth Gear, and spoke to the Refugees again. Then I went up to the Exchange boss and told him with Intimidate to leave the Refugees alone and he decided to attack me then - I got some LS points though from that Intimidation dialog though, then I just killed my way out of there and all was well.

You lacking the options in dialog though really screws it. Its like when talking to Vogga and not being able to dance for him again. They remove the options too soon and too much in the game.

One more bug to the list:

After seeing the message that was hidden on T3's memory, the hologram of Bastila won't leave the Ebon Hawk! It stays right at the ship's loading ramp and can even help you fight some enemies that may enter the Ebon Hawk

I have to correct myself: The "Fuel for Telos" Quest is definitely solvable and therefore only slightly bugged.

The problem that Vogga wouldn't acknowledge the end of the embargo only arose when I talked to him immediately after waking him. Once the Hutt was awake, I talked to him again and managed to resolve the whole Goto business.

Still, the end of the "Fuel" quest was VERY strange and unsatisfactory. I guess that's what you get when you make designer's stop working before their work is finished. Thanks LA.

Two other (potential) bugs:

- Kreia's skill-lecture didn't work (- or so I believe). Neither my best nor my worst skill was improved after she had finished her sermon on the usefulness of having a hobby to divert oneself from the ordeals of life.

- Isn't the efficiency of dissembling items supposed to depend on the repair skill?

In my game, all characters get the same when they vent their urge to deconstruct things: One component. The same goes for constructing items: Everybody pays the same cost. This COULD mean that only the main character's skill is checked (Zero in my case). But why, then, does the range of available items change, depending on which character uses the workbench? I'm confused. Either the Main character's or one of the other party members' skills should be checked - not a mixture of both.

Correction: Some items do yield more components, but the amount still always stays the same, regardless of the crafting character's repair skill.

Just a comment, yep Cerebus I had that same skills thing. I thought I mentioned it before but maybe not.

Otherwise I'm mostly posting now on the LA Tech Support forum there, got a 'List of Bugs' post started that seems to be going strong. Hopefully they will see at least one of these posts and correct these errors....

General comments and more bugs as I get further into the game (sad that I have to come here since I can't just overlook them).

-Scripting is really messed up in this game. I know it is the pre-patched version of the KOTOR engine, but geez.

I went to Korriban after Dantooine and faced Darth Scion(sp?) for the first time. It is obvious you aren't supposed to defeat him yet... But instead of the in game-cut scene playing that shows you running away after you bring him down to a low-level of health... Visas just kept fighting him while he just stood there!

I had Atton and myslef (Lightside Male) in the party as well. I (we) just stood there and watched Visas hack and slash away at Scion with her saber while absolutely nothing was happening. I also had the dilaogue icon for Scion and thought that maybe I am supposed to speak to him in between the fighting like you did Bastila in KOTOR, so I clicked on it and finally, it played the cut scene of Scion falling to his knees and my party making a mad dash for the exit.

Talk about sloppy coding or scripting.

-I mentioned this before, but this game is serverely imbalanced.

Some say it is too easy, but I have a feeling a lot are just saying that and actually haven't played the game since...

Major battles like Khoonda are cake walks... Yet small skirmishes with thugs and level-up monsters are like fighting Malak in KOTOR I... Mostly because you PC and the NPCs MISS a good 85-95% of the time when using melee weapons (blades and lightsabers). The enemey NPCs DON'T miss and hit you and your party with almost EVERY turn...

And yes, before all the "leet gaming gods" start saying I and others who have this problem must "suck" and therefore it is our fault we can't hit anything...

I have points and attributes invested in things like Charisma and Dexterity and Strenth that is supposed to put hitting your opponent more in favor of you and your party as well as using feats like improved flurry, one-handed fighting, duel mastering, etc. It makes no difference.

What I and others *think* may be what is throwing melee combat off is the "Unarmed Specialist" feat that makes using your bare hands more lethal than if you are armed. It is "confusing" the engine and rendering (mathematically) melee weapons less lethal than if you are armed.

I find these kinds of errors and gameplay issues pretty appauling... But not surprising given the sad state that PC Gaming is in if we are going to be blunt.

Here are some specific bugs ive found

1) during cutscenes atton seems to always have really bad graphical glitches. Its like his body has a pole stickin out of him, doesnt affect gameplay but its just wierd looking, sometimes he will also disappear but you can hear him talking.

2)Characters will walk through doors in cutscenes but they wont actually go all the way through until you walk through the door.

3) Dantooine will all of the sudden become lag city. After leaving the ebon hawk all of the sudden the character will run in circles, not move, not respond to movement.Even after rebooting and restarting the game it still happens in the same exact spot. This one is a gameplay killer as i can not advance beyond this point now

Going to try another planet in the meantime.

4) A few issues of characters saying somethign different then what is written in cutscene.

Just wanted to say I find the game way too easy. The only part that was tough for me was the Hidden Tomb on Korriban, because I went there before any other planets (specifically the battle at the start, after that I can't die anyway). In that case I was both alone and weak being still new to the game. Otherwise I really can't die...

Of course I do all the quests, break every door, lockbox and safe and so on as I go along - ppl with less XP would have problems.

I'd say the first planet you visit after Telos will be somewhat difficult, next planet will be So-So and after that its just simplicty itself.

The enemies do get harder I think...they really should, but thats the problem with playing with options - it isn't coded to change the difficulty based on the # of planets you've already done so it has to have the same entry level difficulty.

Some of the unarmed combat against the Mandalorians can be a bit tough, but if you put on your force powers and shields before the match its simple. Of course I say that because I always use force powers a lot, if I just wanted to hack and slash there are a million games I could play - but shooting some lightening or invisible waves of energy at people while holding a glowstick - now thats what we only get from Star Wars : ).

Of course I haven't finished the game yet, I'm just about to save the last Jedi Master on Onderon then go on to the Ending (finished Peragus, Telos, Dxun, Onderon I, Korriban, Dantoonie completely).

I didn't read every post exactly but I didnt see anyone mention this weird bug.

When creating and upgrading weapons that my NCPs use they sometimes get copied.

Example: I upgrade a lightsaber or any weapon they wield. Then there is a copy of it in the inventory. This happens rarely and I dont know the cause.

Even weirder is the fact that sometimes the copy disappears again or just the upgrades in the copy disappears. Strange but is doesnt harm me in any way.

Summary: Sometimes I get an extra weapon with/without upgrades while upgrading.

I just want to add that this happens to me as well.

In fact, I think others have said they also LOSE weapons that have been upgraded (or lose the upgrades once they construct them) and I've lost a couple of good upgrades and have to redo them every time I get to a work bench just so my NPCs can use them.

---

I know I said it before, but I must bring it up again because I think it is a very major bug that is effecting the very foundation of the entire game:

--Scripting is majory pooched in this game.

More Choas on Korriban:

When you are in the tomb and facing your "trials"... When you get to the one where you have to decide whether or not to defend Kriea or side with your friends... I sided with my friends (got the Dark Side shift?!) and then went to see Revan.

The second time I played through it (having saved right before I entered the room), I chose to defend Kriea, got the LS shift, but after the "battle" was over -- everyone just kind of disappeared mid battle except for Kriea -- I talked to Kriea and the whole thing started over again asking me to choose. It was like a scripting LOOP.

The problem with identifying bugs like these that have to do with scripting is a lot of us don't know if certain things are supposed to be "messed up" for dramatic effect... Maybe it is supposed to loop as a kind of foresight to allow me to chose another path... Or because the game is just screwed up and desperately needs a patch ;)

I have two bugs that have been somewhat annoying.

1. After playing for a few hours, the sound vanishes for some dialogs and cutscenes. It seems a bit random, so you might get sound for some lines but not others. Restarting brings back the sound, though. Could be memory-related, so I'll see if it vanishes after I get some more.

2. After I got the patch installed, my normal mouse pointer became invisible. :) I can stlll see where it is, since it highlights buttons underneath, and if I place it over something that switches to another symbol like the talk or security icon, I can see it. It also shows up if I press the mouse button.

None of these are critical, so I'm still playing  Would be nice if they were fixed though.

I have an Athlon 1400+, 256 MB, GeForce Ti4200 and Win98SE, running UK version.

I just wanted to make sure that the particular glitch I was experiencing was accounted for... I made it through most of the Nar Shadda storyline. I had just made it into the Jek'Jek'Tar and through the poisonous tunnels. Hanharr had let me in to the underground compound. I made it all the way to the arena, where a cut-scene ensues. Well, after the cut-scene finishes, right after Kreia tells Hanharr he owes a life-debt, the game freezes on a screen where the Exile is entering the vent control room and then crashes out to the desktop. I have reloaded to previous saves as far back as the fight between Atton and the Twin Suns, to no avail. Unfortunately, I have no saves from before the slavers take-over the Ebon Hawk, which I have heard can fix issues such as this one. As to be expected, I have an ATI 9800 PRO 128, which is probably the cause of the problem. Hopefully this gets ironed out in the upcoming patch.

Dunno if this one's been mentioned already, so here goes:

In the Sith Temple at Dxun, there are 2 ancient terminals. One has a riddle in which you have to solve a mathematical problem.

The correct answer(s) is:

(6 * 2) - 8 + 9 * 1 = 13

or

(6 * 2) - 8 + 9 / 1 = 13

However, neither one works for me, so I can't open the box next to it. It isn't a gamestopping plotbreaking bug, but since the other terminal had a nice lightsaber crystal, I'm assuming I'll miss a great item.

Also, I can't win ANY swooprace, since the guy in charge (on Telos, Onderon etc) keeps saying I have to finish the race. And I did finish, with the fastest time. So it's quite frustrating, because the rewards for swoopracing disappear like snow before the sun :-

Level-Up Bugs:

1st time through:- occasionally when I levelled up it would show all my stats as 8 (so I'd get less skills!). This could be solved by exiting to the main menu and reloading. Fine.

This time:- I'm at the start of Goto's Yacht where you can only take 2 NPCs. Whoever I pick first doesn't have the option of levelling up (or show enough XP to level-up on the character screen. The 2nd person gets to gain 2 levels!!!

It doesn't matter who I choose, what order- it's the same every time. And everyone should be able to get those 2 levels. I don't know if it'll fix itself a bit later or if everyone's going to stuck on level 15 ?!?!

I've tried loading a save (after quitting to desktop) from before you get to choose who goes but no joy.....

Posted

In my first two games I had virtually no bugs, but in my third game, every twenty minutes I lose my menus and map and simply get a frozen screen. Either that or a crash. It alternates, you see.

Posted

I have this problem is that my character and I need to get to Peragus Hanger Deck to reach Ebon Hawk from Fuel Depot. After I defeated the droids there that is standing in the way of the entrance to the hanger deck and suddenly it goes to main game page where you see new game or load game etc. I thought it was my first character problem until I did a new character face and still gets the same problem. I really need help in this to fix the problem.

Some further Bugs:

-When Mira fights against  the Kath hounds in the pit, she doesn't take any damage from them! I could simply stand there and comfortably slice the critters into pieces!

Mira isn't a bug, check her armor she has damage immunity. If a critical is landed or damage over 'so much' it will hit.

Didn't happen to me. The kath hounds kept slaughtering me unless I ran quick.
