Higher minimum requirements? I dunno, it's been too long since I played W3 to know differences. I suppose I might finally be getting around to doing 2nd playthrough at some point in the future. Also:

Fable reboot looks great

Regarding The Witcher increased system requirements, if the developers locked the new story DLC behind the new version, it is a rather user-unfriendly move. They are welcome to ship a new GPU, an SSD, and a few RAM sticks to all affected users, of course. Given how it went with previous "upgrade", I am somewhat sceptical of the performance.

For what it's worth, the developer left the pre-upgrade version available as a separate download on GOG (under the Extra panel) and as a beta branch on Steam, so that's something.

But I also somewhat dislike the series, despite playing it back to back, including the DLC, so neither purchasing nor replaying in any event.

Edit. Checked GOG, now there are 2 editions (Complete and not) and 2 editions (default and classic) under each. The not-Complete classic takes 10 files + separate DLC (3 files) to download. The Complete default takes 22 files. 1 file is up to 4GB.

Fortune's Run - Valve Removing Access - Steam News

Valve is removing my access from the game. I've made it 1$ and discounted it maximally. Goodbye everyone. -DZ

I hope that the developer will recover from it, providing that the information shared is accurate. Fortune's Run is definitely $1, though.

Discord has said that it has not yet been served a subpoena from Take-Two regarding Grand Theft Auto 6 leaks. On Friday, it was reported that the Rockstar parent company filed multiple subpoenas in a federal district court in order to obtain a wide range of user data from Discord and Microsoft relating to the leaks.

Some Discord users fear the scope of the subpoena is so broad it potentially affects all users of the Discord servers where the leaks circulated, which number in the hundreds of thousands.

Discord's marketing director, Ryan K. Rigney, has now responded, saying that the company has not yet received a subpoena from Take-Two, and that every request will be evaluated

"I can share an update on this: Discord has not yet been served with a subpoena from Take-Two," K. Rigney wrote on X on Monday. "When we do, we'll evaluate the validity and scope before responding."

It's worth noting that filing a subpoena is separate to actually serving a party with one, and that companies are not required to respond to a subpoena until they have been formally served it. The subpoena itself has been filed by Take-Two, and so it would seem Discord is simply yet to receive an actual formal service.

According to the filing, Take-Two is requesting data that includes registration emails, registration and last-login IP addresses, phone numbers, linked connections and associated device identifiers for "all user accounts that are/were members" of multiple Discord community servers, including Ødyssey.gg, "! Odyssey", and DarkViperAU from 1st June.

Well, here is to hope that Take-Two and its CEO will have the same privacy they wanted to "grant" to random Discord users.

Former Rockstar staff currently embroiled in a legal battle with the company over their firings last year have asked supporters not to boycott GTA 6, but instead to consider helping cover the costs of their fight against Rockstar by buying specially-designed union merchandise.

On a positive note, Well Dweller is releasing on 22 September.

The cat game, Fable, and the D&D action-adventure look quite nice as well.

Warlock game reminds me of Forspoken, but with far less dynamic gameplay.

Ravenloft (?) setting is a bit unfortunate, though.

Thou shalt not make a machine in the likeness of a human mind.

Hm. I did buy Witcher 3, years ago, via GoG (no dlc's). I never got past the first hour or three. It's one of those games where I might like the actual exploration/gameplay parts, further in, but I couldn't get into early Mr. Manly Gruff for some reason (I normally am fine with angry/snark/machismo etc chrs but I also prefer when they don't talk a lot), or all the cutscenes etc. If/when I get bored of my current 7 Days fixation, might download the enhanced version and see if years later I can "get into" it this time. Probably not, but eh, if it's free, doesn't hurt to look.

Btw, is anyone else tired of the male "super gruff/low" gargling cotton and stones voice cliche in so many media now? I mean I loved Dean and Castiel (his actors natural voice is so far removed from Castiels, lol) in SPN, but that's what I mean. Or Geralt. Or Kliff in more recent Crimson Desert. Low/deeper voice, fine, but it's getting a bit silly/extreme/way overused now.

I enjoyed Witcher books as a teen, so I am not objective here. Geralt is fantasy Clint Eastwood, and I think he makes for great protagonist for the game. Opinionated enough to be a character, removed from society and conflicted enough to support a light RPG. I love Geralt as a character - I find him snarky in a very relatable and adorable way. Then again, it is difficult for me when my adoration for the character from books ends and game's Geralt begins. CDPR take on the character certainly isn't 100% to my liking, but it is faithful enough for me to embrace him. I should also say that I always played Witcher with polish VO. To me polish actor's take on Geralt sounds a bit less artificial.

I honestly, loved all three games, but third one is the one I played only once so far. I replayed the first one countless times. 2nd just a few times. The third one - I think it is the best one, but it is also too big? I remember every bit of W1&2, both good and bad - Witcher3 is a bit of a blur.

I also struggle these days to get into games with little player agency. I had this issue with Cyberpunk. I can still enjoy those games, but need an adjustment period to be more passive and enjoy the ride. Back when my main diet was Bioware, Witcher was far easier to slip into.

just seen zero company need 32gb of ram and 3080 to play

guess it is not on the menu for most player

So, with 32GB of ram and 5070Ti the game still doesn’t run great. On high settings in 4k using balanced DLSS, I get very unstable 60FPS - bouncing between 50-80. And just the whole thing feels like it hitches every once in a while.

Didn’t get too far into it, just first couple tutorial encounters. Decided to refund it for now.

Can confirm that it hitches for me too, although it's not terrible. I get around 100 fps with auto frame generation and all settings on quality/ultra, with native 2k resolution. The frames do jump up and down, especially in scene transitions.

32gb with 5070ti, but an old 10 core cpu.

"because they filled mommy with enough mythic power to become a demi-god" - KP

^ Can't explain what about Geralt I didn't like, because I don't know myself. Just didn't click with me in those early moments. My comment re: super low/gruff voices wasn't aimed at him specifically, either. Just the cliche of such being used for male chrs. Akin to, say, Hollywood overusing the "supervillain has British accent - or at least a non-USA accent".

Developers have gotten lazy with their optimizations....

I feel like it's half that, and maybe half simply that dev's ran ahead with all the lighting/effects/whatever bling tech before they really knew how to optimize such. And maybe a little bit also is that all that new bling-tech isn't very optimizatiable to begin with - without losing a lot of the bling and draw distance and realistic moving lighting that they're aiming for (or some players want) etc.

I've been watching Crimson Desert, and they keep "optimizing" it, supposedly - and as often happens, the overall quality looks worse, unless one has high-end and max+Ray Reconstruction etc, and even then, from a lot of posts, clarity and view distance has been lost. Now, it doesn't bother me that much and I'm not saying it looks bad - but I can see clarity/draw distance is not the same as was on release, using the exact same settings I was before - in favor of (slightly) better performance (maybe, for some). So, y'know - just make it like that in the first place instead of over-doing it (so to speak) at first, then any visual upgrades will seem like a bonus, vs. having to dial it down and down later, feeling like a downgrade.

Yeah, with framegen I was able to get 100-120FPS, and I thought that will make the game feel great, but I still found it janky. It might be UX rather then just performance itself, but I must say I just didn't enjoy interacting with the game.

Though, to be fair, I endured far worse with XCOM2. I think the main issue for me is, that from what I understand X-COM3 it is not. I picked up the game more of fondness of some of the dev's team previous work, then my own interest in ZC, but opening mission made me regret spending £40. I still have Jagged Allience3 in my library that I haven't touched and Phoenix Point to return to, and those to seem far more up my alley.

How did I missed this? Inhave noticed this for the first time today, and I am hyped more, than during any other release last few years. Seems like Mamoo’s GOTY 2026… Released day one on GOG as well 🫠

https://www.pcgamer.com/games/grand-theft-auto/gta-6-map-is-apparently-3-times-larger-than-red-dead-redemption-2-twice-as-large-as-gta-5/

The GTA6 map is 3x larger than RDR2 and 2x as large than GTA5 🥳

I spent 300 hours on the SP game of RDR2 exploring that massive world, its hard to think of a map being 3 times bigger than that epic game but large parts of RDR2 were intentionally empty of people because its a Western theme. So GTA6 will be different because its a modern state and city

I also have been thinking of playing GTA5 again because of the wait for the PC version of GTA6 is going to take time. But this time I will use mods. There are hundreds of mods now and some of them look incredible

I will only use mods that improve on the current mechanics like advanced hunting and more bank robberies and additional crime options. I wont  install mods that dont make sense to the original design like playing a superhero character even though they exist

After the Netflix update here are 150 confirmed features we know about  the GTA6

Some of them are arbitrary but it is still relevant

Im interested in things like

  1. Every region will feel distinct, with its buildings, residents, and overall atmosphere reflecting the local culture.

  2. Players who venture away from the main campaign may discover optional content that does not appear as a standard objective on the map.

  3. Unexpected situations and interactions can naturally appear while traveling across Leonida.

  4. GTA 6 will reportedly feature the largest collection of radio and television commercials in the franchise’s history.

  5. According to another preview estimate, Leonida may have nearly 11 times more populated space than GTA 5.

Its going to be epic, its really time to get excited dancing
