kanisatha Posted Friday at 02:51 PM Posted Friday at 02:51 PM I'm on the fence about playing as Ciri, but the trailer looks good to me. I agree that story-wise, how do they square the ending of TW3 with this?

People growing attached to things is the most normal thing ever. You are not alone on this. The algorithms are really terrible at offering decent content. You have to search for good content yourself, and even after that you are offered trash content. The best example from me would be Dragon Age: Veilguard. I am “progressive”, but for the very same reasons, as Zorraptor mentioned few posts above, to not be trapped into my own bubble, I am following 2 or 3 “conservative” youtubers, which I consider to be as objective as possible from the perspective of my worldview. So on the date of the release of the Veilguard, I have of course watched a video made by one of the. Up until today, Youtube algorithm offers me probably the worst “incel” **** about games… And I can’t get rid of it as well. And after that episode, it almost never offers me “woke” content, in which I was and still am interested Sent from my Stone Tablet, using Chisel-a-Talk 2000BC. Hurlshort Posted Friday at 07:36 PM Posted Friday at 07:36 PM I appreciated Ciri a lot more after the Netflix show. One of the biggest entry level hurdles when getting into the Witcher 3 -- even if you played prior games. It's only in the books that she was much of a character until that point. And then the entire base game narrative depends on chasing her. Every time you think you're close, well you aren't. If they hadn't introduced the perspective changes (you playing Ciri briefly), that would have been an even tougher sell. It's a bit like Super Mario Bros: "Sorry Geralt, but your princess is in another castle." Except probably even Mario had more characterization at the start to get you into the "mood" of actually chasing that pretty princess -- like two lines in the manual dedicated to her Peachness. And Mario also didn't need to chase her for dozens of hours. He could even use warp zones to make the process even shorter. Mario had it good. We had it good. If only we knew back then. I kinda lost interest when I noticed it was 3 player coop. roguelike, designed to played in endless iteration with randomized loot. No PVP, all PVE. It's a multiplayer forever game, only missing the micro transactions. Sony will probably insist on those soon enough.

Zoraptor Posted Saturday at 01:25 AM Posted Saturday at 01:25 AM At least they were better than the equivalents in TW2. Having to play some random dude with a claymore and no skills/ powers for a bit was not exactly the single greatest idea mankind has ever had.

Also, 12gb VRAM for 4k, possibly even for lower resolutions depending on settings, who bloody knows. It's not about RT - theory from some is need a gpu that will support DX12-Ultimate mesh shaders and other other features. https://fullcleared.com/news/here-are-the-pc-requirements-for-final-fantasy-vii-rebirth/ ...it's just that time where gpu tech/game dev tech standards is finally changing over. Had that long period of "my gpu/pc is 8-10+ years old and still does everything!" - but that's going, going, gone. Well, outside of indie games. And eventually that'll go to, for more graphic indies/A/AA, I would bet on it. At least the vram req. part. My 2080ti purchase, for time period I bought it, looks better all the time. If only I could hold out for the 60xx/whatever period.... Edit: at least that Arc B580 looks like a good budget 1080p card. Maybe Intel really will light a little fire under Nvidia's butt ... probably not. Nvidia obviously doesn't care about low budget gpu's. Maybe Intel really will light a little fire under Nvidia's butt ... probably not. Nvidia obviously doesn't care about low budget gpu's. AMD actually aren't that much better, funnily enough. At least over here, the 7600 XT is currently priced too high for what it is (basically a slightly improved RX 7600, just with more VRAM... an alternative RX 7600 /12GB would have been a way better option). And the only reason that older cards fall in that price range is because they're selling them off cheap... the 6750XT, if still available, goes for like half the price of which it started. Which was well over 600 Euro -- just a good two years ago! Computerbase.de ran an analysis on Nvidia a while ago: between the GTX 1060 and RTX 2060 there was still a big jump in performance. After that, it was but ~20% on average in between generations. What's more, the RTX 3060 until Arc was the only and first entry level card with 12GB -- oddly enough, given Nvidia's reputation to cheap out on VRAM. AMD didn't make any big jumps between 5600/XT / 6600 / 7600 either anymore. Meanwhile, the performance levels in the higher end are through the roof. It's a GPU class war truly now -- and Intel have arrived to throw the beggars some coin. Edited Saturday at 05:59 AM by Sven_
