CopingMarlinsFan Posted June 7 Posted June 7 Binge watching 2 Broke Girls. Perfect chemistry between the 2 leads but mid jokes overall, I can see the appeal my dad had for it
rjshae Posted June 11 Posted June 11 I finished watching the Andor series; overall it was really good, probably the best star wars sequence I've seen, even counting the original trilogy. The curious thing is that watching Rogue One at the end only made that movie seem rushed. There was much less character development compared to Andor, and the result was the ending didn't feel that tragic. I wonder what it would have been like if Rogue One was season 3 of Andor? That would never happen, of course, because it was an expensive series. But then I also wondered what made it so expensive? Was it all the expansive sets they built? It was well done and felt very organic to the setting. I don't think I saw any half measures. "It has just been discovered that research causes cancer in rats."
Amentep Posted June 12 Posted June 12 Watched the last episode of Sherlock & Daughter. Fun series, overall. Hope it gets a second season; they wrapped the plot up that Holmes and Daughter had to unravel (and the murder that starts the story in motion is solved and the villain hoisted by their own petard (with a little help), but left enough lingering elements to fuel further stories. I ended up growing to like Dougray Scott's Moriarty as well, as the character's later appearance moved a bit away from his intro which felt a little to broad to me. Like the character was an actor and not a university professor. I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? LadyCrimson Posted June 14 Author Posted June 14 Hm. Shady agency/group/research folk. Young unaware teens likely held against their will and creepy vibes location. Typical S. King elements. Trailer isn't exciting but maybe --- WAIT. IS THAT JULIAN RICHINGS? I'm in. Ok ok probably a small role, but I'll still check it out. “Things are as they are. Gfted1 Posted Sunday at 02:21 PM Posted Sunday at 02:21 PM Echo Valley Meh, there 1h44m I wish I had back. Pros: Sweeney plays a great junkie. You really hate those bastages by the end. Cons: Everything else. http://www.sloganizer.net/en/image,Gfted1,black,red.png
rjshae Posted Sunday at 03:38 PM Posted Sunday at 03:38 PM I actually enjoy watching How It's Made. It's very calming; must be the predictability of its presentation and how everything progresses logically. "It has just been discovered that research causes cancer in rats."

It's funny how the fall of cable and the rise of streaming services have actually made many more niche shows way more inaccessible than they used to be. 1 Quote Against stupidity we have no defense. Neither protests nor force can touch it. Reasoning is of no use. Facts that contradict personal prejudices can simply be disbelieved - indeed, the fool can counter by criticizing them, and if they are undeniable, they can just be pushed aside as trivial exceptions. So the fool, as distinct from the scoundrel, is completely self-satisfied. In fact, they can easily become dangerous, as it does not take much to make them aggressive. For that reason, greater caution is called for than with a malicious one. Never again will we try to persuade the stupid person with reasons, for it is senseless and dangerous.

Sarex Posted Monday at 01:06 PM Posted Monday at 01:06 PM Watched Dept.Q on netflix. Good show, kind of like a British version of True Detective, gives me that vibe. "because they filled mommy with enough mythic power to become a demi-god" - KP

I hear ya. Recently I started switching between (Roku-accessible) streaming services every few months, just to watch different shows. I'm expecting that there will be more and more consolidation over time. "It has just been discovered that research causes cancer in rats."

ShadySands Posted Wednesday at 04:22 PM Posted Wednesday at 04:22 PM I'm curious if they have another celebrity playing an exaggerated version of themselves in season 3 since they had Sting for season 1 and Amy Schumer for season 2. I guess I'll find out soon enough. Free games updated 3/4/21
rjshae Posted Wednesday at 10:36 PM Posted Wednesday at 10:36 PM Streaming surpasses broadcast and cable TV viewing in US for first time Quote Streaming services, which have been steadily gaining in popularity, have finally dethroned broadcast and cable television in the U.S., winning more viewers in May than broadcast and cable combined, audience measurement firm Nielsen reported on Tuesday. Streaming captures 44.8% of TV usage; broadcast accounts for 20% of viewership, cable for 24% I looks like the viewership battle is all but over, at least in the USA. Maedhros Posted 21 hours ago Posted 21 hours ago Finally got around to watching Andor. It was almost as good as the hype said. I especially liked season 1. Season 2 I felt was a bit uneven, but still great. Hope the showrunner/writer does more Star Wars stuff. 1

Well, in May, new shows are done on both broadcast, and to some extent cable as well. It's exactly the time when people turn to streaming to "catch up" on their shows. Streaming would need to beat broadcast and cable at their prime timepoints in the year, which is not May.
