Saw that on the BBC front page yesterday... it would've been funny if it wasn't so sad

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-65071989

My first thought was, it sort of makes sense. Somebody somewhere must have given birth to The Florida Man, right?

I like to think Florida Man was birthed fully formed from our collective nightmares, but more realistically you're right. Though Barney Bishop III sounds like a supervillain or a evil rich guy name and something parents would only inflict upon a child they loathed.

Looks like it's not just the IDF that is against Netanyahu, the defence minister now also rings the alarm bells, predicting a bad end to these attempts at taking direct control of the judicial system (to avoid prosecution)

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-65076682

"In a brief televised statement, Mr Gallant described the reform plan as a "clear, immediate and tangible danger to the security of the State".

He said members of the Israeli Defence Forces were angry and disappointed, with an intensity he had never encountered before."

Prominent Texas Republican helped cover up child sexual abuse by a judge/Baptist leader.

I'd make a joke here but honestly I'm too disgusted to muster anything but searing rage. The sooner these vermin get their ticket to hell the better the world will be.

You know, like I posted about before, back when Iron Sky came out, the film was - anecdotally, perhaps, based on IMBD votes - not very well received in the US. Republicans did not like being made fun of, particularily with the Sarah Palin stand-in as president in the film, while Democrats thought it was ridiculous and that Sarah Palin would never become president (well, she did not, so that part came true), and both sides agreed that American politics would never degenerate to the level shown in the film.

When I watched it at the theater, I laughed really hard. I recently rewatched it, it really stopped being funny in 2016, for some strange reason. Can't quite put my orange on it why. Ah, well, what a tangerine I went on here.

They likely wouldn't give a crap since it isn't illegal to have that name. The issue is that children are **** and they will bully that child without mercy.

I think our current reality is adhering to dystopian fiction in the dumbest way possible in a way that feels very darkly funny. Banks are collapsing because 69 pixel monkey jpgs and internet funny money seemed like a great idea to galaxy brain financial types. The world's (previously) richest man torched enough money to solve world hunger and publicly humiliates himself daily because his wife left him. President demands people work for two more years while wearing a watch that costs more than the average person would make on a year. US client state goes mask off fascism because former PM can't let go of power. Canadian grifter convinces hundreds she is royalty and causes them to lose everything.

All of this stuff and more would be absurdist moments in films from a decade ago but they're just reality now. We are in the stupidest dystopian timeline.

Real talk, the biggest defense we have against mass right wing movements is that they're all grifters who can't help running scams on each other.

But surly right wingers, they not against bank profits ? Telling people they don't need to pay mortgages, surly you must agree that sounds like socialism and BLM. :teehee:

No real "real talk" reply I can come up with.
